I liked the way that this book was written. It seemed overly simplistic at first, but I think that's just because I've conditioned myself to think that eating healthy and becoming/remaining fit is a difficult thing to do. Tony Arreola breaks it down and drums it into your head that taking care of yourself is something that everyone can do and you can start, RIGHT NOW.
He clearly outlines the path to success with a narrative involving a girl named Aubrey who meets him (his avatar in the story) and says "Get me skinny!". She learns the proper way to eat, move, and retrain her inner voice for success... not just today but for the rest of her life.
If the reader didn't pick it up through the story, Tony conveniently outlines all of the important points of his plan, coping mechanisms, exercise ideas, water/food intake information at the back of his book so that you don't have to reread everything if you forget a point or two.
I wish that Tony had included more about his own personal background story and his motivation for getting into fitness- I feel that would be extra motivational for folks reading his book. A brief summary of it is included in "About the Author" in the back of the book and there is a short interlude in the story where Mr. Skinny talks about what drove him to a lifetime of health and fitness. More of that would be great- he has a lot of heart and the experiences that made him into what he is are really interesting.
Overall, this is an excellent resource for someone looking to make a major change in their life. I would recommend it for anyone who has tried and failed at diets, exercise programs, or just wants the motivation to do better. Tony/Mr. Skinny will take you to your goals and beyond.
The 2nd Edition of Get Me Skinny capitalizes on the amazing success of the original book. With over 2,500 copies sold, and thousands of pounds lost, the book gives you simple weight loss strategies in a fun story. Enjoy, but most importantly...learn.

This is a captivating story that addresses the issue of self-perception and the search for happiness through weight loss. The book immerses us in the life of Aubrey, a woman who has gone through a painful divorce and struggles to regain her self-esteem and confidence.

Arreola's prose is fluid and friendly, making reading enjoyable and engaging. The author successfully balances the technical aspects of weight loss with emotional storytelling, resulting in a story that resonates with the reader and inspires them to consider their own relationship with body image.
In short, it's an encouraging book that goes beyond the typical weight loss story. Tony Arreola demonstrates that true change begins within and invites us to consider the importance of embracing and appreciating ourselves at any stage of life.
Get Me Skinny by Tony Arreola Starts with table of contents then the story. Aubrey is on the chunky side and is surrounded by skinny girls and wants to know the secret. She learns from the trainer that she has a long road and she starts. Love the idea of the journal and makes so much sense to write everything down. We had gone to a nutritionist but she never emphasized the importance of calorie intake. As long as we were eating 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables a day they were called free food, eat as much as we wanted. It's just been recently my spouse started making that portion of his daily intake of food a bit smaller as we are both gaining a bit of weight now... She has days that don't go so well and falls back to her old habits til she starts to see a difference. I can see where the information would 100% help anybody. Love movement program in summary and exercise vs food ratios. Testimonials are included along with about the author. Connect with the author links and other information about fitness seminars and how to make a booking with him.

This fitness book is unique in that it is written as a fictional story about Aubrey who is very overweight and the other protagonist, “Mr. Skinny”, her personal fitness trainer. Most books on weight loss and fitness training give you regimes to follow and diets to adhere to. I am truly inspired by this book which relates these things in a practical manner while conveying them by means of a fun story. The author points out that having and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is meant to and indeed can be fun when approached in the right way. I find the information at the end of the book priceless. I had no idea that eating two slices of cake means that you have to cycle for about one and a half hours to burn off the calories. This book is life-changing.
“Get Me Skinny: A Surprisingly Simple, Slimming Story" was written by Tony Arreola, who is a fitness professional, author and entrepreneur. He has written books on health, fitness and weight loss, and he is known for promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing guidance to those looking to improve their physical well-being. With those kinds of credentials, I knew I was going to love this book.
One of the positive sides of this book is the fact that the author uses fiction in a very clever way to educate us readers, about weight loss and having a healthy life style.
This book has definitely changed my life for the better, as it is filled with incredible advice on how to get the body of my dreams. I definitely recommend reading it!
Get Me Skinny: A Surprisingly Simple, Slimming Story is the first book in a fantastic collection that talks about the best-known diets and commonly used methods to lose weight and the problems faced by a person trying to lose weight. We know that the stress of daily life or problems can bring us different disorders, among them a very common one is obesity. A person who needs to lose weight for health and aesthetics goes through many ups and downs, commonly known diets may not be supported by anyone, in addition to this, there are also particularities at the level of health and lifestyles. That is why this book takes a particular case and develops theories and practices of how a diet has to be 100% adjusted to the person. I recommend it!
Aubrey and Mr skinny guy (the trainer) along with a full complement of supporting characters, give life to the work by Mr. Tony Arreola. This is a fictional story that highlights the dos and don't of anyone's weightloss journey. Teaching mindfulness, calorie deficit, and more this book is a self help guide cleverly disguised in order to keep your attention. What I didn't like was that Audrey's character was often acting very childlike. Throwing fits and wallowing in bad behavior. As she is supposed to be a grown woman, this was off-putting. I also thought the author could use a good editor to help smooth out some rough areas in the writing. Other than that, it was a good book.
I can say is a unique and refreshing approach to losing weight. The author who is a fitness expert smoothly weaves a fictional story with real life application, tips and techniques. Aubrey’s journey was so relatable that I saw myself trying to look for a Mister Skinny in my own gym. The author covers topics such as exercise routines, nutrition tips and even mental well-being strategies, which ensures the readers that they fully understand what it takes to get fit, skinny and to have a healthy lifestyle. If you are tired of the hammering approach of fitness books this is your way out, as it secretly encourages you on an emotional level in making the transformation as Aubrey has. It is very empowering and it will engage with every flip of a page just like you are listening to a friend.
Get Me Skinny: A Surprisingly Simple, Slimming Story is the first book of the Fictional Stories Delivering Proven Results series written by Tony Arreola. It offers a different perspective through a fictional story about weight loss, diets, exercise and fitness ambitions. When I started reading it, I didn't know what to expect because weight loss can be a dedicated topic but I think the author has done a good job writing about it. "Being slim" is not the unique right way but for those who want to be, this book has good tips and I liked that it emphasizes healthy habits. It will certainly be a great read for many people.
This book is super original. Author Tony Arreola has done a great job blending fiction with what actually happens in real life with yo-yo diets and how people who are on them feel and perceive their bodies and their realities. The author aims at empowering readers to break free, that is what I thought as soon as I started reading this book. His meticulous research is evident. The narrative is thought-provoking since it delves into the complex world of yo-yo diets.
One of the book’s strengths lies in its balanced approach. The information is well-structured and the entire vibe of the book is inviting readers to enjoy insightful texts. I have enjoyed this book a lot.
This book is kind of quirky. It is fiction but the woman wanting to lose weight could be any of us who have tried to lose weight. She's desperate and has had many false starts and failures. When I first stumbled onto this book I kind of scoffed at it but then decided to at least read a few pages. The author is not Stephen King or Michael Connelly but he does get his point across. Once I finished I had actually learned from this story. Now I find this is the first book in a series and I have to read the other books to see what happens to Aubrey and learn some more for my own weight battles.
Get Me Skinny: A Surprisingly Simple, Slimming Story is the first volume out of four in the Fictional Stories Delivering Proven Results by author Tony Arreola. In this book we find a story and information and knowledge too. I liked this mix which I haven’t encountered before. Tony Arreola shared his knowledge about weight loss within a tale that makes the reading more engaging from the start. I liked the book because its message was totally useful for me and because it is not long, which made me read it in two days only. I would totally recommend reading Get Me Skinny.
I like Tony's approach to delivering information through a story (genius idea!) which made it much more interesting to read. While I was somewhat distracted by its need of editing and proper punctuation, I felt compelled to keep reading to learn more about fitness and weight loss. I have been doing it wrong all along, like Aubrey. Love this approach and will implement what I have learned through this story.
"The author succeeds in engaging the reader where most other fitness books fail. Through the experiences of the main character, Aubrey, we meet key characters that add to the richness and entertainment of the concepts. Through an easy to understand storyline, the trainer, Mr. Skinny, helps us understand tricks to conquer social pressures and stay on course. We often say, "It's more difficult for me than others." By first embracing the right mindset, everyone can start their journey and be successful in having the body they dream of, but failed at one time or another in their quest to get there. Aubrey meets various characters. Each character helps introduce a new component of what makes a solid, well planned, fitness mindset. Instead of reading difficult or boring scientific principles, the author breaks it down into simple concepts that are easy to implement. We understand why we often fail at eating healthy and learn simple steps to get through the times we are weakest. This easy to read, yet powerful book is a must read for anyone who wants to stop failing at eating healthy!" - Ryan Alduenda
"This was such a refreshing departure from the typical diet books and alike. The author has done a magnificent job of breaking down basic, yet misunderstood, fitness principles through a lighthearted story (you cannot help but fall in love with these characters). You relate to Aubry (the main character), we all have 'Aubrys' in our lives, either by looking in the mirror or among our family, friends or co-workers. There are many analogies that are used in this book that beautifully ingrain in your mind pure simple health/fitness principles to live by. Although this is a fitness/health book, these simple rules seem to be universal and easily applicable to life's little challenges. The last few pages of the book do an amazing job of summarizing all these principles and providing a quick reminder/workbook." - Laily Boutaleb

This book was interesting in the beginning and I thought it was an interesting change of pace. But by the time I was halfway through the book I had my fill of Mr. Skinny and his characters. I really just could not finish the book. Maybe I am like the main character in the book and can't stay on task or maybe the book is simply boring and monotonous after a while, you can be the judge. Either way, I give it a couple of stars for the beginning of the book grabbing my attention and pointing out some flaws of my own.
This book is motivational and gives some great advice for people who have tried and failed. It gives a very simplistic approach to being healthy. Both men and women can relate to the main character Aubrey.
