This is one of Nancy's best! I really love Echoes. Paige and Jon have been friends for 2 years and neither one of them is willing to admit in their hearts what they feel. Then Jon wakes up from a surgery to find out his tumor is benign - and that none of the people surrounding him look familiar - including Paige.

When she realizes that Jon could die and that he has no idea of who she is and the past they have shared, Paige finally admits to herself how she really feels about Jon. But Jon remembers nothing. As they travel to Georgia in search of an antique vase for one of her clients, Paige works to help Jon remember. Jon opens up as he seeks for answers to his past. But one night he finds himself in an alley with a dead body, only to turn the man over and discover he has a twin. And then things really start to get interesting...

Love Campbell's books! Her books just get better and better. This is one of her earlier books and they should be read in order. Cause it introduces the next character in each book.

My least favorite of the series. I really don't like the plot and the love story is rather lame. Nancy Campbell Allen has some great books, but I find that she doesn't know how to end a series. It's like she has to because it's part of what she envisioned, but she's out of ideas and has a hard time pulling everything together in a believable way.

Also, not only was it a lame series ending, but the ending of this individual book was rushed and not very convincing. But maybe that's just me. If I'd gone through the heartbreak and broken trust Paige went through it would take more than a five-minute conversation to restore my faith in a relationship.

This real mystery based novel had me glued to its pages. Nancy did a great job of making old time Italy and present day USA flow swiftly alongside each other. The characters are as likable as a real person with a real life would be. I enjoyed the way the suspense keeps you guessing in every chapter.
The story is that of a young man, Jon, who has known nothing but hard life since age 3, when he walked away from a fire and was stopped by a woman. His mother had sent him to wait downstairs so she could help her maid escape the fire. It was the last time he saw her. A female stranger talked to him and held his hand for a long time, but his mother never came for him. The woman, by the name of Ruby Kiersey, didn’t have the child’s best interest in mind. She knew the building was a high scale apartment complex and the boy’s parents would paid handsomely.
However, the time passed and Jon learned a lot from the woman he thought was his mother. These learnings were things like drugs, boyfriends, beatings and a lonely life. Soon, at twelve, the meanest kid at school, who offered him a job, approached him. After that his life changed for the worse. He spent more than a year in jail as a minor and when he went back to his “mother” he remembered why he didn’t like her. He left and never looked back. He spent since his fourteenth year of age with prostitutes and drugs. Then at eighteen, a man, Bump, found him half dead in an alley.
It is an excellent book to teach young adults about the dangers of life on the streets. Later is coupled with the heartache of keeping it all behind. Very clean book recommended to readers over twelve.

It had been a long time since I read this book and I was somewhat surprised when I started reading because I didn’t remember Jon’s story all that well. Poor Jon has had a very hard life and it doesn’t get better when he finds out he has a tumor. When he wakes up from surgery the tumor has been removed and he has lost his memory. This was an interesting aspect to the story. It really gave Jon the chance to look at his life with a little perspective and no guilt. He soon stumbles upon his true heritage and the true situation behind his childhood. I really enjoyed this novel. Paige is very likable; I could really feel her frustration with Jon and was hoping they would be able to figure a way to be together. It was good that they really had to work for what they had and I think it made them appreciate each other a whole lot more. This is the last book in the series, although each book could probably be read on its own. I recommend reading them in order though because certain characters do overlap throughout the books.

I have always been curious about the title of this one. The first three books all have “time” worked into their titles, this one does not. I sometimes like to think of it as “Echoes in Time” just for fun. =)

There is just SO much going on this entire book. The plot keeps moving and is ever changing. You can’t give a brief synopsis of this book because there’s just so much going on the entire time. It kept my attention well enough, but it was a bit confusing with many questions answered too late. The journal excepts at the beginning of each chapter are confusing in the beginning, but eventually readers understand that the journal writer is the main character’s great grandma.

Heroin and needles and drug use mentioned
Non-descriptive child physical and verbal abuse mentioned a couple times
Majorly deals with trying to let go of past mistakes and move on and accepting one’s self and forgiving one’s self.
LDS religious references
Light romantic attraction/touching

I can't figure out what genre I'd place this book. It has a drawn-out mystery, an unexciting romance, and rising from ashes. Though it was interesting to read, things seemed to take forever (to get the romance moving, to figure out the mystery, to decide what to do about things, etc.) And to throw in stuff about church membership, without discussing some of the essential parts of a member's reason for living the way they do and day to day life seemed odd. But, as in other books out lately, I can't understand why the end result is always getting more money than you know what to do with.

I hadn't realized this was a continuation of the series I read earlier this year. It was fun to go back to those characters. What I didn't like is the "I'm not worthy of you" talk. Maybe it's a hard concept for me to understand not having a "past" but it wore a little thin. The mystery was ok but pretty predictable.

I really loved this book. I couldn't put it down. From some of the other books, I already knew the character Jon. I had always been intrigued by him. I also enjoyed discovering depth in Paige. Just enough mystery, thrill, and adventure. And of course romance.

Content: murder and attempted murder, drugs (in past)

This was the first time I've read this author. I didn't realize she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The book is clean, and enjoyable. A bit predictable, but I still liked it.

I just finished this book, and I REALLY liked it! The storyline is a BIT convoluted (kidnapping, mistaken identities, trips to Italy) and also kind of... convenient... (Jon happens to be EXACTLY in the right place (of anywhere on the PLANET) and EXACTLY the right time? I mean, it's conveniently LDS fiction, so you can just say it was the Spirit, but still... It just seemed too easy.)

That being said, I'm a sucker for a well-done amnesia story, and I quite liked this one! The love story was so sweet and innocent (since his memory is kaput)... Paige and Jon are so cute together! Jon's sense of "chivalry" is bound to be a problem, of course. I've read a few books where the hero thinks he's WAAAAY not good enough for the heroine. That must be a guy thing. Or maybe I'm just selfish? I can't realistically put myself in those shoes.

Anyway, I liked Aunt Maggie. I liked the trips to Italy. I thought the riddle was a lot more straight-forward than they were making it out to be. I would have had to Villa in 2 days, max. *shrugs* But whatever. It all turned out all right in the end, though it got a bit rocky there for a while! :)

When a 3-year-old boy escapes from a burning building in Chicago, he's taken in by Ruby Kiersey who thinks she can collect a ransom on him. No one ever looks for him though, so she allows him to be abused by boyfriends and neglects him. "Jon" becomes a drug addict and dealer. Eventually he's rescued by Bump who takes him home to Seattle, gets him clean and offers a new start to him. He joins the LDS church and becomes very close to Bumps' sister-in-law Paige. When Jon has to have surgery to remove a brain tumor, he wakes up with no memories. Paige stays with him and persuades him to go with her to Savannah, GA to look for an antique for a client. As Jon is out running one night, he discovers a body - of his unknown twin "John", dead of an overdose.

This connects him to his weird biological family, his aunt being the only normal one. She persuades him to pretend to be "John" to uncover the clues of his Gr-grandmother Maria Vinci from Tuscany. The 3 go to Tuscany to solve the riddle, more attempts are made on Jon's life and his memory comes back, after he's proposed to Paige. Part mystery, romance - well done (listened to audio)

great book to go with her other books that have the same charcters. Jon Kiersey had a brain tumor removed and lose his memory temporarily. He forgets his haunting past and the people that befriended him and helped him overcome his lifestyle on the streets of Chicago. Paige O'Brian has been his friend through the whole process of drug rehab and finding and accepting the gospel and they have become "good friends." But they both discover their is more. When in search of a valuable antique vase they find the answers to Jon's past. the past he didn't even know about in Savanah Georgia and then again in Tuscany Italy. As Jon remembers his past life choices he pulls away from Paige because he feels unworthy of her goodness. Will he forgive himself?

I liked this book up until the end when the conclusion to the conspiracy made absolutely no sense to me and was thrown in there with almost no explanation. The rest of the story was fairly well-paced and well done. Paige and Aunt Maggie are both good characters, and I liked the Italy part of the book, even though I really didn't think it was necessary. Like most people she makes a number of references to her other books that I thought this could do without, but it's a light-hearted 'thriller' good enough to kill a couple of hours.

Can a young man raised by a women doing drugs and living on the streets of Chicago raise above his pasted and make a wonderful life with the person he loves. Only if he can find a way to forgive the past. This is a tale of how one man slowly moved from a life of drugs to find his way to a better life. However, before he could move to the better life he must except that Christ can forgive all things. Because only through Christ love can we love and forgive ourselves.

This is a fast-paced, quick-read mystery/romance. I think it's the fourth in the series, although the author doesn't really say the books are a series. And I wish she would. Then I could have read them in order.

It's about Jon who is suffering from amnesia, and we find out about his mysterious past.

I got kind of tired of the "Do I love him/her or not?" parts, and I was confused by the ending. I think it needed more explanation of "why." But it was an enjoyable read.

Fun story! Life would not be easy if you woke up from surgery with no memory of what happened, and no recollection of your life prior to the surgery. You don't even know what the surgery was for.
Thus begins the tale of Jon Kiersey. He must figure out who he is, what his connection to the people in his life are, and where he is going with his future. While discovering who he is, he learns enough about his past to put his future in jeopardy.

This was a pretty good suspense/ thriller book, but had some rather unbelievable circumstances much like a soap opera. The whole stumbling upon your identical twin thing was too tough to swallow, but I loved the amnesia stuff. The characters were great and I love the way they evolved, and the story moved swiftly.

This was an enjoyable book but didn't move along as much as I would have liked. I kept waiting for more suspence, but it was really tame. Had I known that, I probably would have enjoyed it more. The two stars means I did like it, just not as exciting as I prefer. Definitely one to read if you're looking for an enjoyable book with only minimal suspence.

A great story of a man that is trying to remember his past. In the process he remembers things that happened to him as a child that he didn't remember even before the amnesia. Although a difficult process of discovery, he was able to come to terms with how his life evolved and was more at peace with himself.

A good ending to a four book series!
This one has a sweet ending. The author introduces us to a though kind of guy who comes from nothing and ends up being the richest man around having Page's love:)

This book was so fun to read. I think that the author does a good job in helping you relate to how Jon feels about his past life as well as helping you relate to how Paige feels toward Jon. Inheriting that much money is a fairytale, but it is fun to imagine.

This was another .25 library pick. I turns out this is the third book in a series that I've already read so it was fun to pick up the story line. The book moved quickly and kept my attention. Very enjoyable.
