Jeff and Patrick have been looking for a third to add to their relationship for some time, but are on the verge of giving up. A quick camping trip to regroup might be the answer. Taylor is reaching his limits in his job as assistant restaurant manager and needs a mini-break to get back to nature. Things get off to a rough start when his reaction to Patrick and Jeff camping nearby goes badly, but Jeff decides they should befriend Taylor and he's invited over to share their campfire and s'mores. After realizing Taylor is gay and attracted to them, the two men decide to pursue him back in the city. Initially suspicious of their motives, once Taylor realizes they are serious about a permanent relationship, he has to come clean with his own secrets. He's a bobcat shifter and he's not sure the two men will be able to accept this real him, but the truth has to come out.

Dear Author, The 2 men kneeling knew someone was missing in their relationship. They were looking for a third to complete them.
Photo Description: Two men kneeling at the feet of a third, performing oral sex.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
I'm a single mom to a great adult daughter, and I have a full-time job as well. I started reading m/m romancein 2008, then went to reviewing and then writing.
Some dares and prompting of friends led me to the role of author and they've always been my biggest cheerleaders.
Believe it or not, not one but two of my lovely GR friends pointed this story out to me and said : Mandy a ménage and shifter story in one, it's like it was made for you. ( *looks pointedly at Ami and Anke*) Ok, well the ladies do know me, so as soon as I was able to hide away from my children and settle in to read this really good addition to the wonderful LHNB stories,
Jeff and Patrick are lovers and very happy with each other but feel like a third would make what they have perfect. They have been looking high and low ( mostly low or so it feels to them) and are about to give up. They run into Taylor and decide he might be the one. Jeff is definitely the driving force in this story, his personality is very vibrant and charming, the other two are nice too, but didn't stick out to me as much as Jeff did. The paranormal / shifter aspect was nice, I like shifters and I like ones that aren't your run-of-the-mill , I thought him being disgruntled about the size of his tail was cute. The paranormal part was very minimal though, so shouldn't stop non-shifter lovers from reading it. Being me, means I always want more, and I would love a more expanded story about these three. What's Jeff's issues with his family? And obviously Taylor has some mommy/brother issues...and well, it would just be nice to see how they continue on together.
Jeff and Patrick are in a relationship since a while, but decided to start looking for a third permanent partner. After a few frustrating meetings with a number of men, who were apparently just looking for sex, they go for a camping trip in order to pass some quality time together. Just a few feet away, Taylor has set up his camping spot. He is a bob cat shifter and is feeling lonely since quite some time. Jeff and Patrick invite him over, but he is too shy to do anything more than drink a beer. However, Jeff and Patrick don’t give up and set to seduce Taylor when back in town.
I’m not really into shifter stories, but this one was just fine. The ménage aspect of the story felt credible, but unfortunately Patrick felt always a bit apart. I didn’t get to know much about him.
This may be menage but it's all about love (with some steamy sex thrown in!).
Jeff and Patrick have been together for a couple of years but don't feel complete. They feel that they are missing the person they need for the perfect relationship.
They have been searching for that elusive special someone but only meet guys after one-night stands and kinky sex.
Taylor is different. They feel drawn to him and him to them. There's just one or two minor problems. Firstly convincing Taylor that he is wanted and secondly Jeff and Patrick accepting Taylor for who he really is."Why would they want him? He was nothing special and there was that whole shifter thing."
This short story really isn't about world building, more focused on the relationship with a strong them of acceptance. I really liked the message about not judging people for things that are part of them, things they cannot change.
3.5 stars for this cute short story
I now publish all my m/m reviews on my blog so if you want to see all my m/m reviews in one place come visit at Because Two Men Are Better Than One!
Really super good fun. Jeff was particularly adorable, although something about Patrick's steadiness and silences spoke to me too. Taylor's blushes and interest are depicted well, and to be honest I found the shifter thing a bit superfluous. The narrative and characters were strong enough without that element.
I found Jeff to be the shining star of this story. He was just so full of energy, so bright, so adorable, he made impression just from the get go. Patrick was nice but he couldn't outshine his lover here *lol*. Taylor was lovely too -- I liked that he didn't understand his own appeal, that it took Patrick and Jeff to make him realize it.
It was an angst-free story and perfect for quick read. I wasn't really sure if the shifter element did something to the story, though. It did give a 'tension' of Taylor having to tell his secrets to the two guys, but I don't see this being a 'lesser' story without it as well.
A fun threesome short story with a sprinkling of shifter elements. I very much enjoyed the sparkling, big-hearted personality that is Jeff and the cautious but caring Patrick. Shy Taylor was a lovely addition to their relationship and this story really showcased that.
The shifter aspect added a much needed challenge to the happy-go-lucky progression of their relationship. However, due to the limitations that most short stories have, the shifter aspect of the story was downplayed.
Overall, I liked the story and the characters in it were very positive and heartwarming. I like that in characters.
Three is definitely not a crowd when it comes to m/m/m romance – I love all the ways that three boys can get hot, bothered and tangled up! I also love shifter stories, so the combination of these two elements in this story was an extra special treat for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this contribution to the LHNB m/m romance event. Wonderful story!!!
Enjoyable read all in all, but for some reason didn’t have me jumping out of my chair in excitement. I liked everybody involved, but it may just be that because this was a short I didn’t get as much time to get attached to the three of them as a triad.
Patrick and Jeff have always felt that there was something missing from their relationship. They decided that what they really needed was a third to complete the balance of everything. They’ve tried everything to find their third, clubs, want ads, services, they’ve put themselves out there, but everyone they’ve met seems to be in it for the wrong reasons. Both Patrick and Jeff want someone to be a committed, equal third, not just a night of kinky sex. After one more awful meeting Patrick can tell it’s all getting Jeff down, he decides what they need is some quality time together out of town camping.
Taylor loves his job managing a restaurant, but sometimes all the craziness gets to be too much and he needs to get out of town. He’s really starting to feel lonely with no one in his life to care for either. Plus his inner cat is itching to get out and do a little running and hunting. A mid week trip out of town camping is just what he needs. He’s picked a location away from any other campers and he’s ready to relax and regroup. Seeing two hot guys going at it a couple lots down well that’s just unfair temptation.
Ok Jeff is so adorably twinky. He just bounces. He and Patrick seemed to really work as a couple. I guess I never really understood why they felt they needed a third other than they said so. I did feel for Taylor’s loneliness and I appreciated that Patrick took some time to really come to grips with Taylor’s reveal. As I said I liked the story. The just never seemed to have too much impact. We never see how any one else really reacts to their relationship or anything. Plus the shifter aspect is really only an after thought and we don’t really get to see how it relates to the world or get enough backstory to really understand how Taylor’s whole history/family works. I would be curious to read more from the author though. 3.5 Stars all in all.
This is the very first shifter menage I have ever come across, and I just completely adored it.
All three men were fantastically well-drawn, especially for a novella-length story. Jeff was a lovable, bouncy, energetic bottom; Patrick a big-hearted but cautious caretaker; and Taylor the adorable, shy bobcat-shifter that they were missing to complete their relationship.
The relationship between Jeff and Patrick was lovely and shown very well, while still making their desire to add a third believable. And the way the "mates" trope was adapted to include both Jeff and Patrick was lovely. I was left honestly believing that they are better off as 3... which isn't always the case at the end of menage stories for me.
I only wish we could have spent more time together with the three of them at the end. It felt like there'd been such lovely building-up of the relationship, and that made the end feel somewhat abrupt. I'd love to read more about these men!
LHNB Story released 3.7.13 Just over 3 stars It's hard to describe this story, a semi-paranormal shifter menage maybe? Jeff and Patrick are in an established relationship but feel as though something is missing, but have almost given up on looking for a third partner. Taylor, who they meet when camping, turns out to be their missing third, only Taylor has his own secret - namely that he's a bob-cat shifter. I liked the menage aspect of this story but felt the whole shifter/fated mates was significantly underplayed to the point of being unnecessary. Enjoyable story nonetheless.
Up until the end it never felt like Taylor would ever share the love Jeff and Patrick share with each other. He seemed just like a distraction to me. The shifter thing was part of the prompt but kind of "unnecessary" for this story, did not bring anything really critical into the story. Unfortunately Mainly Jeff's character deteriorate to the end to some kind of childish guy, all the time pouting, bouncing around in excitement or near a temper tantrum.
3.5 stars rounded up because it's a freebie from LHNB.
I thought Jeff was adorable and Patrick a nice solid presence and I loved how strong their relationship was and how well they handled finding their third. Taylor was a bit of a confusion at first, but I think that was the point. This is a short story but there is a lot in it and it's not all just PWP or instalove. Sure it's kind of quick and light but there was thought behind it.
I've felt that this short story tried to cover too many bases and failed. There's not enough plot or characterization to be a decent romance; there's not enough sex to be erotica. The shifter thing was just a plot device rather than organic part of the story, like a bizarre sex toy thrown in to spice things up. The story required more volume and substance in order to be satisfactory on any account.
Hmm the characters are cute, I'm not clear why a third was needed and found it uncomfortable the way they plied Taylor with wine before making a move. The shifter aspect seemed unnecessary.
Eeeeee! I just loved this! I adored Jeff and his bouncy ways and really loved how Taylor was a perfect match for Jeff and Patrick together. And a shifter too! Just what I love...a threesome where all 3 are equals in the relationship, and a paranormal element to it. This was incredibly hot, funny, and very enjoyable. I know I would love to read more about these three guys and see what's next for them! Thanks for a great story!
If you're into menage then this may well be your sort of thing, but it didn't work for me. I'm not opposed to m-m-m, but I need to understand why there has to be 3. In this case, presumably to keep the story short we were just told that Jeff and Patric needed a third. I also felt that Taylor jumped in a bit fast - I'd have liked to see the relationships develop more.
It is a shifter book, but that part felt unnecessary, it would have work well (maybe better?) if it had just been contemporary.
First of HOLY HELL that picture prompt was absolutely hot!!! I don't normally like ménage stories (I'm to jealous and always feel bad for one person) but this one was too cute to pass up. It was loving and playful and that made it good.
