This is a novelette length work (a prequel to book 2 in the Dangerously Dimpled series, Plus None) is no longer available for purchase.
Limping her way through a high society birthday bash, Charlie would like nothing more than to trade in her high heels for a pair of old cowboy boots. But when she finds herself tail over tits in the hydrangea, and Alex Ramirez appears to lend a helping hand, four-inch stilettos seem like the least of her worries. What's a country girl to do when her knight in shining armor turns out to be a rich boy with a mysterious agenda, and a pair of panty-dropping dimples? Two star-crossed lovers, one night, and a really naughty leather belt. Maybe Charlie should get out of Harlow County more often…
Free again for 9/30-10/1! In honor of Alex and Charlie's full length novel, PLUS NONE, release on 9/29.
This steamy little Novelette is FREE on Kindle starting today! (Free August 25-27)
Hurry and pick it up but be prepared, you will want more of Charlie and Alex (and more is one the way!) This novelette is the prequel to Emily's upcoming novel Plus None.
It's a tall order to tell such a sexy story in the length of a novelette and Emily Hemmer delivers 100 percent. But where she shines is the sense of humor she gives her characters. It's not everyday you find a romance that is not only steamy but hilarious. It's a fun, fun ride! I really can't wait to hear more from these two.
And to add to the awesomeness, Emily's debut novel The Break-Up Psychic is on sale (till August 31) for .99! Dimples and all.
I received an ARC of this novelette from the author for an honest review.
I was one of the lucky first few to read this prelude to Ms. Hemmer's next book PLUS NONE. If you liked THE BREAK-UP PSYCHIC, this is just as edible with a lot more heat!!! Charlie is a good ole' country girl, easy to connect with, and Alex is a HAWT city boy from the opposite side of the tracks. When their chemistry ignites you'll want to break out the ice cube tray... and then the next book! This is just the beginning, folks!
After reading The Break-Up Psychic, I knew I was a die-hard Hemmerian (Not sure that's a word...but I'm going with it). When I had an opportunity to read an advanced copy of Just One (prequel to Plus None...coming soon!) I jumped at it. Not only did I fall in love with another one of Hemmer's characters, I fell in love with the entire tone/theme. Charlie is my favorite kind of female lead--sharp as a tack, quick-witted and full of flaws. Plus, she has a sexy side that I love.
And Alex freaking Ramirez. HOLY SHIT. I'm not kidding when I tell you I had to put the book down I was swooning so hard. Those damn dimples get me every time (kind of like Charlie).
If you've read The Break-Up Psychic, be prepared for an even sexier, funnier romp. And If you haven't read The Break-Up Psychic yet...what the hell are you waiting for? Buy yourself a copy, devour it and move onto this freebie so you'll be caught up for Plus None.
Hemmer's done it again.... and I'm a proud Hemmerian :)
Review: This book will get you to fall out of your chair by laughing so much.
I laughed so much that I had to pick myself off the floor four times, change my pants due to peeing myself, and I refuse to eat and read ever again due to this book. It was a very bad mistake, chocking involved.
I can not express how much I love this book! I was trying to picture all the funny sayings that were in this book. I would share them, but they are in the wrong language for me to add them to my review and they are almost like adding spoilers to the review.
You will have to read the book just to get the funny.
Just One is exactly what I hoped for from Ms. Hemmer. The author packs a punch with this novella. You can feel the tension and heat from the top of your head through the tips of your toes. And did I mention funny? Seriously, one thing I love about this author is that she has such a fresh bout of humor in her work. Not only is it well written, romantic, and dare I say...hot, she makes it funny too. Incredible read. Looking forward to the sequel Plus None!
The author warns us that this is just a novelette. What she neglects to inform us is that it doesn't suck. I didn't mind buying a novelette for a quick read, but then I discovered characters who were so realistic that I didn't want to let them go. Charlie has her insecurities, but she's a strong female lead. The rich boy with dimples concept should have been trite and even bordering on pathetically overdone, and yet Emily Hemmer writes a character who has depth, charm, and delicious passion. I was peeved that I purchased this, but only because it's not September 30, yet, and I have to wait three more days to buy the rest of this. If the book is written in similar style to this prequel, then you will love this. The storyline is unique with the Texan flavor sprinkled throughout and the romance scenes got a bit steamy - it was really well written. No typos, no grammatical mistakes, no typical issues that a book of only $0.99 would have. This is the first I've read of this author and I was impressed. (Note: I am not often impressed and even more rarely impressed enough to write a review and admit it). I recommend this book.
In the words of the illustrious George Takei, OH MYYYYYY!
Phew! I’m gonna get my own southern girl on and sit a right spell with my glass of sweet tea…this book is HAWT. *fans self *
Just One is a novella that introduces us to the characters of Charlie (Charlotte) and Alex. Charlie is a small town girl from a trailer park who works out in the oil fields alongside her father. She doesn’t ask much of others, for she is the glue that has kept her family together after the death of her mother when she was a pre-teen. On the other hand, there is Paige, her younger sister that is pretty much the exact opposite of Charlie. Paige was a sorority girl in college and has managed to snag a young rich beau, her ticket out of small town Harlow County. While not necessarily embarrassed by her upbringing, she is certainly not proud.
It is at the swanky party for Paige’s 23rd birthday that Charlie meets the mysterious Alex Ramirez. What begins as a wild night of unbridled passion turns into something much deeper. But Alex has a big secret and Charlie ran the next morning, this certainly isn’t shaping up for a happily ever after!
I absolutely adore the chemistry between Charlie and Alex; I just wish Alex might grow a little bigger cajones in order to deal with some of his snooty friends that look down their noses at Charlie. Ms. Hemmer has painted Charlie as an endearing, passionate, beautiful woman who often puts the needs of others before her own. Seeing all of the crap that Charlie has to deal with at the hands of those who deem themselves better than her, I am rooting for her, big time.
Five stars hands down for this one, although I have to admit, I was ready to strip all of the stars way as I got to the end. I was at 99% finished and I had a huge fear that we wouldn’t see any resolution, only to see that Charlie and Alex are going to get their own full-length novel, Plus None. You don’t realize how happy that makes me; I know I’m looking forward to spending several more hours with Alex Ramirez!
Charlotte(Charlie) is a simple southern girl from a trailer park, Alex an attorney who happens to be her sisters boyfriends best friend. Her sister is a sorority sister, high glam friends, country club, the whole nine yards. Simple living suits Charlie and shes happy with it.
Enter Alex. Alex saves her from falling and they spend some time together only to be interrupted by one of the snootier sorority sisters whos more than happy to snidely put Charlies trailer park existence down
Later that night Alex shows up......
This book gets downright dirty, nice an hottttt!!
Quick read novella to introduce the Dangerously Dimpled series.

Take heed of the warning peeps-this is a short story designed to be a prequel for Plus None. While this may be short in length it is certainly not short on humor and sexiness. The tension between Alex and Charlie is strung tight so certainly a little sex will help that. ;) Ms. Hemmer had me laughing during almost the entire sex scene. She really is a natural at writing comedy. This story definitely left me hanging and I can't wait to read what's up next!
Emily totally sucked me in!! Dark hair, dark eyes, dimples and a to die for body... sign me up! And how cute is Charlie??! Loved her quirkiness and ability to make fun of herself. Cant wait to read Plus None and find out what the heck the deal is between Alex and this Cadence wench... he better make this up to Charlie or I'm gonna be irritated. Now I'm off to buy the first book in the series The Break-Up Psychic and wait impatiently for Sept 30th to get here!
Short story but, it was a good one. I love how Charlie thinks and talks. She really had me cracking up! The chemistry between her and Alex is instant and the author wrote it in such a way that it really can be felt. I was sad that Charlie left when she did without hearing what Alex had to say about things, seemed like the "relationship" could have gone a long way. I guess we'll see what happens next!!!
Witty, Funny, Sexy little read. This is a preview for more fun and I am excited to read more! Loved that it was Free. Let's some lucky ones get a taste of Emily Hemmer's funny and entertaining writing. Looking forward to more story of Charlie and Alex. Great sexual chemistry with those two!
Author has a good voice and the main character was very witty. Why only two stars? At the start of the book I thought I was going to enjoy a lighthearted romance but the tone of the author's voice for the sex scene seemed a bit incongruous.
Oh my goodness I did not realize this book was just so short but I really liked it. A one night stand very hot and steamy, descriptive writing and great characters. I had to order Plus None right away and keep reading on about Charlie and Alex.
This didn't have the same characters as #1 in the series, whom I really liked, but Hemmer's writing style is enjoyable, flows and makes me laugh out loud! But, um, this one made me blush ;) I wonder if I can get through #2?
Oh wow! What an awesome, hot, quick read! I really like Charlie, and Alex is one sexy mystery man! So happy I have the next book to continue straight away!
