Dr. Asano Katsuya is a US trained psychiatrist who has been recruited by the Tokyo Police Department to profile a serial killer via the victims' data. Based on Asano's profile and recommendations, a suspect has at last been caught! Now, after three years and twelve victims, Shinohara Keiji is in police custody and has promised a thorough confession, provided that Asano is the one to receive it. But Dr. Asano is soon plagued by disturbing nightmares as soon as he's given the case...
In Chapter 4, while Katsuya was under torture, he told himself that he won't break even if he goes insane. In this Chapter, Katsuya was told a piece of the truth (that he was indeed the victim in his nightmares). However, Katsuya was in denial (of the truth). I believe that his denial (his psyche's capacity to deceive the self of the truth) was the result of Katsuya's promise to himself that he won't break...Katsuya managed not to break by forgetting (or denying) what happened to him.
Katsuya is caught by Keiji and told that Katsuya's flashbacks are actually of Katsuya's past abduction. This was not a shock to me but they were to Katsuya. Keiji is cruel to Katsuya but he seems familiar, leading me down the garden path that Keiji is the serial killer. What is the pill for? Pages just flew by as Keiji did depraved things to Katsuya.
