Private investigator Kate Shugak is 5 foot 1 inch tall, carries a scar that runs from ear to ear across her throat and owns a half-wolf, half-husky named Mutt. Orphaned at eight years old, Kate grew up to be resourceful, strong willed and defiant. She is tougher than your average heroine – and she needs to be to survive the worst the Alaskan wilds can throw at her.
Kate investigates murders. She's worked under cover in the Arctic Circle, gone to sea, signed up as a bodyguard, tracked missing tribal relics and she continues to fight for the Aleut way of life.
In this epic box set, Kate will witness the violent death of her closest friend and she'll face extreme peril herself. She'll even end up adopting a teenage boy. Just as well that she'll have Mutt at her side throughout it all.
Dana Stabenow was born in Anchorage and raised on 75-foot fish tender in the Gulf of Alaska. She knew there was a warmer, drier job out there somewhere.
I read the KU-single book editions of the first 4 books in this book set but still added the details here before I delete those from my book shelves

I really enjoyed this series. First I liked learning about Alaska as I was planning a holiday there, then after my holiday I could reminisce about the places I'd been and things I'd done when they were mentioned in the books.
The stories are interesting, pretty much the same thing happens in each book but I liked knowing Kate and Mutt would solve the crime and having the same characters appear and develop throughout the series.
