Book 21 This book is part of a series. WARNING: Men making love, crude language, violence.
Jesse Salvatore has had it. He's the youngest of three brothers -- and the only one born without the werewolf gene. Because he's human, his brothers, Jaxon and Justice, treat him like he's helpless. They constantly battle deadly rogue wolves and won't let him anywhere near the fight. When he meets Noah King, he knows he's found his soulmate in the werewolf and soldier. Just as life seems to be brightening, big brother Justice forbids Jesse to see Noah. The two men sneak time together when they can, but it's not enough. More than a year later, the rogues have targeted Jesse and Justice has no choice but to let Noah protect him.
Noah King has never been in love. One-night stands are more his style. But the first time he sees Jesse Salvatore, his world is flipped upside down by the hot blond-haired, green-eyed human. What's not to love? Jesse is sweet, smart, gorgeous and bad-ass. Only one thing stands in their way: Justice Salvatore. When Jesse's life is threatened, Noah is entrusted with keeping him safe.
Of course, no plan is ever fool-proof, and a mission to protect one man changes the lives of many.
I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!
This is book #21 of the Assassin/Shifter series and it will most certainly not be my last! I have loved each and every book in this series and it fast became my “crack”. I am seriously addicted and cannot control myself when it comes to this series. There are sooo many characters that it sometimes becomes a bit overwhelming but I’m so familiar with them all it feels like I am part of the family, so to speak. I just finished this episode and I’m already jonesing for my next fix. :D
*My crack addiction has been fed!* Doing my happy dance and enjoying all things Assassin/Shifter! Jesse and Noah have needed their happy ending forever and ever and I’m so glad they finally got it. Silly Salvatore brothers getting over their protect the non-werewolfy brother.
Jesse Salvatore enjoys his job at Cuffs and Stuff as a bouncer. As a former SEAL though and having werewolves for brothers he knows there’s more out there. He hates being treated like he’s weaker than everyone else; that he can’t take care of himself. Most of all he hates being kept away from the man that he loves just because Noah is a werewolf. He doesn’t need protecting. He’s a grown man.
Noah King may respect the hell out of the Salvatore brothers when it comes to their fighting prowess, but their attitude about his relationship with their brother is going to drive him batty. He loves Noah and it isn’t just a passing fancy. He wants a life with the man. When the rogues make it clear that they want to capture Jesse as well it just might be time to make his claim real and obvious for everyone.
So many, many characters and I LOVE THEM ALL! I have such a soft spot for Jesse though. He’s such a sweetheart and yummy bouncer. All the scenes at Cuffs and Stuff always make me laugh. Hello hot boys dancing! I think it’s just that really he’s so self-reliant and never really needed the help but everyone always makes him out to be weaker just because he’s human. Yet, Jesse never really gets resentful because he knows it’s because they care about him. I could just feel his frustration every time Noah would put him off. Gah! Give in already boys! Mmmmmm hotness!
I can’t wait to find out more about the details of this war either. There’s so many things we don’t know, about the boyo’s and what powers they are going to have, what it all means. Now more and more of our humans are turning up immortal or getting turned. It’s madness I tell you. But entirely the good kind. And if I don’t get Elijah’s book soon I think I might scream! He denied Jaxon a kiss! Are you kidding me?!?!?!? Apocalypse is coming! Nasty evil Petey has to have something up his sleeve and I don’t like it. Grrrrrrr, you can’t have any of the boyos!
Ok, so this review is more rambling than normal, but I can’t help it, I’m still on a giddy high. I’m having this internal childish rant going “Noah and Jesse sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage…” And of course that’s coming. More happy joyous times to come. Hopefully this never ending supply of rogues will ease up soon. Though I think Nikolai, Vince, and Devin might be a little sad and not know what to do with themselves without a ready supply of evil to slice and dice. :D
I love the fact that Noah doesn’t care that Jesse’s human and wants him no matter what. He’s not willing to chance turning him if that’s not what the gods had in mind for him. And yet Jesse gets to be so amazingly cool and look at me awesome.
I’m now going to go bask in my exultant happiness for a few more hours before I begin pining away for December and the next time I can indulge my addiction. Let the countdown begin! I'm going to go with 4.5 stars on this one even if silly Gr doesn't let me do half stars.
OMG these books keep getting better and better. We finally get to see Noah and Jesse get their story and what a sweet story it was. I love this book gets us ready for the next one. Another hit for Sandrine. Christmas please hurry up and get here.
Enjoyed this segment, especially as there is more of the mysterious Killian. We also get a little closer to learning what is so special about the younguns.
There have been some bad reviews written about Forbidden and I am failing to see why. I can't say this enough ... If you haven't read the rest of the Assassin/Shifter series, then please do so before you write a shitty review! A few people have bitched about the relationship between Jesse and Noah just appearing out of the blue. Umm ... Have you people been paying attention? Did you just speed read your way through the rest of the books beforehand? There is nothing out of the blue about this couple. They have been dancing around each other for a few books now and to see their relationship finally happen makes you all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Sandrine can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. She has amazing characters that hook you straight away. I, like other readers, start withdrawing until Sandrine releases another book! She has a wicked sense of humour to write the characters the way she does. You cannot help but laugh out loud at some parts. I am so happy to finally see Noah get his man. It's about time! Amazing story and a welcome addition to the series.
This Book at #21 has it all!! I love how these books explain something from a previous book and leave questions for the next installment. What a wonderfully entertaining series.
This book is where we get to see the story about Jesse and Noah. It was extremely HOT with the insta-wet moments. They finally get to spend time together and get to know each other. We also get to find out what Jesse really is and why the rogues want him so bad. At least I think we did? A few heart warming moments between the Salvatore brothers. But you also get a lot of ass kicking rogue moments. They kicked tons of ass in this book. I loved it!! We also got to see a bunch of the Skull Blasters, that is always a treat. A few of them got converted in this book. Some against their will, some just for the love of their mate.
Thank you again Sandrine Gasq-Dion for this spectacular Assassin/Shifters Series!! By the way, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
This series is just getting better and better! I love the fact that we still get to see the old characters but so many new plots twists and turns are keeping us on our toes. I have waited a long time for Jesse to finally get Noah and I am very pleased with how the book was written.
I do suggest that anyone who hasn't read this series to start at the beginning. I have even read through the books a couple of times.
These book are short and I read them in one setting but the way the author writes this series is so fun and exciting that even if you prefer long books you an enjoy these.
Whoa. That's all I am going to say. Gaea was right. Big things are happening. I CAN NOT FORKIN' WAIT!!!!!!! All the new arrivals and powers. EEK! I am giddy.
I am liking Killian :)
I am moving onto The 12 Olympian series (starting with Skylar and Justice's story).
My thoughts as I was reading this one: Stupid. Repetitive. Vanity scenes en masse. Bored. It felt all over the place. Maybe it’s just me.
Perhaps the biggest issue? Noah and Jesse’s relationship does not work for me – simply because we never had any build-up for it. They saw each other for a second or two in a book and immediately Jesse shot Noah down. Next we hear of them is that they’re seeing each other on the sly. (And we really just heard this via other characters.) Over another few books we got maybe two brief scenes between them that are completely out of character in a teenage Romeo-and-Juliet way. And then we’re at the start of this book and they’re entering a full-blown relationship and we still haven’t seen anything develop between them ever. It just supposedly is – and I am not seeing it.
The beginning of this volume still had me wondering why exactly Noah was treating Jesse like a very shy virgin. Possibly because Jesse turned into a fourteen-year-old girl around him? To be fair, this only lasts for their first scene or so together. Then Jesse’s back to who he used to be way before he met Noah several books ago. Weird thing, though. Jesse came across as “slutty” for sure in all the earlier books. Now he claims he’s never been the type. Right.
Since I am already on the subject of my “what?” moments, here are a few more to get out of the way before I segue into the ramblier stuff.
Okay, when the fuck did slow aging (and even super slow aging) transform into immortality? Jeez.
Wait, wasn’t Zach supposed to be a kid – possibly late teen at the most? Now he’s at least twenty-four?
What’s with this ludicrous retcon as to why Jude kept Hayden away? I read that book! Reluctance towards the mate bond wasn’t the reason at all.
You know… If you are trying to hide, maybe you should, you know, actually hide instead of letting tons of people see you. Just an idea…
In my opinion blowjobs while driving almost rank up there with drunk driving. It’s a fucking stupid, irresponsible thing to do unless a third person is doing the driving.
*sigh* So I guess you do not have to be a warlock to do magic. I mean how else did Petey learn all this stuff to the point where it’s easy for him?
This entire thing? Yeah, the author definitely just makes it up as she goes along.
I’m sorry but that whole “if the fates had wanted you to be a werewolf they would have made you one” argument is rubbish. Doesn’t that also mean that if someone gets mortally wounded you should not use your healing mojo on them? Because the fates wouldn’t have allowed the person to be wounded without reason, surely? You simply cannot use this argument and then claim that Sebastian needs to keep his premonitions to himself. Because, honestly, why would they have given him that power if not to fucking use it? I never got that. Going back to Jesse and Noah, why would the fates put Jesse with a werewolf if they didn’t want him to go there eventually? Those brothers make no sense to me either. If their main goal is to keep their baby brother safe, they should have turned him long ago, but at the very least as soon as they had access to the powerful bite of the created.
So when the fates (or Gaea) reveal their master plan, I found myself far from impressed. I think everyone (including the gods) in this series is only interested in whatever keeps the story going. (I mean sure, the gods could just end the Bad Things with their magical powers or just make everyone immortal to begin with, and the rest of them could actually act on information given – but then we would not have any more opportunities to showcase how lethal their fighting techniques are and just how awesome their tight asses look and how they love to whore themselves out even while in danger.) This isn’t a war; this is a porn soap.
Which oddly enough brings me to Caden’s big event near the end.
But what am I even saying? This series does not work with any version of reality that I’m familiar with. I need to just roll with it.
Finally, I am pretty sure whatever money this stunt earns could have been saved by simply forgoing Riley’s next renting of Disneyland.
Too SHORT!!! I needed more Noah and Jesse... but, this? I did NOT see coming! *grin*
The rogues flew through the air as a massive white light brightened the entire area. Noah covered his eyes as it became more intense. He got to his feet, noticing that the rogues were in awe over the light. It dissipated and Noah’s mouth dropped open.
And then... ;D
I suppose it is time to move on... Cole and Ross are about to set the sheets on fire in Dirty Ross!!!
The shifters/assassins are growing by leaps and bounds. The guys are doing what's necessary for the kids in their community while kicking butt and taking names. The romance is hot and I am still having a ball reading these stories. Enjoy, I did.
Another great add to the series. Jesse Salvatore and Noah King have been kept apart for a few books now so it is a huge build up that they finally get their story. It was adorable and I was in love from the first page. Secrets are revealed and I can't wait for the next.
Standard SG-D fare, which I always enjoy. The plot seemed to nudge the series further along with a bit of broader environmental (aka good-guys Army defense) development. The focus, whilst still shifting around the various characters (past and future), stayed on the MCs right through to the end.
I don't know what it was about this one, but somehow I wasn't engaged with Noah and Jesse. I really enjoyed the other parts of the story more - and I can't figure out why really because Noah and Jess certainly were hot together and there were plenty of surprises where they were concerned.00
For some reason, I am really so much more interested in the whole Justice/Jaxon/Killian/Skylar/Elija/Stone story than this one. I did like seeing the other guys - particularly Nikolai and Colin, Andrei & Devin and Keegan and Vince. I am also really interested in what's going to happen with Zach and the other shifters.
I hope we get some more with these guys in the next one although I know it's Ross's story/
I've been waiting for Jesse and Noah's story seeing as they've been trying to be together for several books now. Finally! Jesse's been overprotected by his brothers because he's not a shifter like them and he's about done with them. But he's got his own special power. We get visits from the awful rogue werewolves and battles and awesome smexing and more fights and more love and I just love this series!
I was rooting for Jesse and Noah from the minute they were introduced.
Justice was being a hardheaded fool trying to protect Jesse. Protect him from what exactly though? It wasn't like he wasn't already a target being the human brother of two deadly werewolves!
I loved the way Noah courted Jesse and wouldn't allow them to move to the next step while their relationship was in hiding from Justice.
floved this book. as ive read all the books of each series not in order i suggest before you read #22Dirty Ross you read books ##1&2 of the olympians series. it follows within the time line then read Dirty Ross then book #3of the Olympians. gotta say i love the series and it has everything supernatural assassin gods love shes manages to take everything you could want in a series and put them together great
It felt like we waited forever for Jesse and Noah to be together, but it was totally worth the wait! Jesse is in danger and finally Justice allows Noah to care for him. The fact that they are already in love, makes this book as sweet as it is hot. It is also setting in motion the next few books, Chrstmas day can't come fast enough. Another fantastic book in a fantastic series.
At last, Jesse & Noah finally have their love recognised by Justice, a beautiful story which we are fortunate enough to witness from the very beginning. Things really start to hot up in this book, you get to witness the start of a few more possible unions as well as meet a few new werewolves! All in all another fantastic book in the series.
So the Gods had plans for Jesse and boy was a big one, instead of him becoming a wolf witch I thought he would, nope not for Jesse. But the one thing I'm so happy about is that him and Noah are together. OMG Vince as a werewolf the rogues should just give up now. Now all we need is for Devin to become a werewolf holy hell.
This is the story of Jesse and Noah. Jesse's big bother finally is out of the way and Noah takes his chance to be with the man he loves. We have a lot of new shifters coming into the story. Will they be able to keep the love or will Jesses big brother mess things up. Come find out.
I love that each book brings us something new. I am loving the new shifters. They are adding a new dynamic to the rogue war. Things are going to get much more interesting now. Was happy to see Jesse finally get his man. But I really want Skylar's and Elijah's stories. I cannot wait.
About time for Jesse and Noah, they are just soooooo good together! The series just keeps getting better and so much more intriguing! Cannot wait for more...
I loved Noah & Jesse's story. I love the humor and chemistry between them! I love the fact that previous characters are included in all of Sandrine's stories! I just loved it as I do all of this series!!!
