So Brian & Jillian are finally tying the knot. Jillian is being sued by Natalie for the book she has written. Victoria finds out who the father of her baby is. Rob and Laura are enjoying each other but not as a couple again. Jim is considering marring Caroline. So a lot is going on In this book. The couples all seem to be getting closer & the others are trying to work out the kinks. Such an enjoyable read.
OK, I want to start by saying I really do like this series. I laughed the entire way thru the first book and gave it 4 stars. The second book was more of the same, but with maybe just a tad less laughing. It still earned 4 stars in my book.
I gave this book 3 stars because I just didn't get that belly laugh feeling that I got from the first two books. The story itself continues to be interesting and includes some great new developments but, honestly, I think the sex passages could have been dialed back a little (especially the characters' apparent obsession with doing the back door boogaloo) and the base story structure ramped up a little.
What especially comes to mind is the scene during the wedding trip where the intercom is inadvertently left activated and the entire wedding ensemble can hear Victoria and Rob's conversation. Immense humor potential here, but all I can remember is Rob talking about the copious amounts of "joy juice" he produced the one time he and Victoria had sex. *shudders*
This series is so much more than just a story about sex, so I guess I'm just loathe to think it could be viewed as fodder for someone's spank bank. There's humor, some pretty twisted family dynamics, unique friendships, some dastardly legal action...and who knows what the hell's up with Rob's boss and his wacked-out condo complex.
Even tho this installment fell a little short for me, I'm still anxious to get into book 4 and see how this whole crazy mess ends up!
The interlocking threads are still woven throughout the story lines. Brian and Jillian's wedding is of course the main focus this time around but fast behind it we have a drama playing out for Jim, Caroline and Victoria. Rob is given his own relationship drama and this third book is the beginning of Natalie's quest for riches which is explored in full in book four which read out of order by mistake prior to this one.
All through the book the sexual innuendos are rampant as are the hookups for this mishmash of characters.
Once again I'm pulled in by another book in this series! Their are so many high, steamy, wild details I want to talk about but don't want to spoil it for the rest of you! Finding out who Victoria is pregnant for had me beyond excited (and secretly hoping it was for that person), the lawsuit.... the wedding Omg it was so amazingly played out & now I'm anxious to see what becomes of Natalie throughout this! Jillian & Brian are still so perfect together, finally married, and I'm so excited to see where their journey takes them! Again, such an amazing book in this series.... it just keeps getting better and better as I continue reading!
I have a love hate relationship with this series. I want to know what happens next but some of the scenes are so cringey to read. These books are filled with a lot of sex, mothers having sex with their sons best friend. Mothers friend having sex with her friends son, and her friends fiance's brother... that's just the first two books.
This one is partners cheating on each other, a wedding, not knowing who knocked someone up (not a surprise with everyone sleeping with everyone else), and lots of fascination with anal sex. There is a lot of fascination with it in this book, A LOT!
Yet as cringey as it is, I can't help reading these books to find out what happens next. The writer definitely is imaginative and if you're looking for books with a lot of sex in that have a -interesting- (although cringey, not although cringey as 50 Shades!) storyline to go with it, then these books are you.
How I love this series! I always laugh a lot, but this one in a way is different. Jiliian and Brian are getting married, Jim is getting ready for a big change even though he is not so sure as what exactly to do, especially since Victoria has a huge surprise in store. There is a lot going on with all the characters and some unexpected turns. As always I love Victoria..she makes me laugh, but in this book she shows another side and now I love her even more. Rob is his usual self, but Laura took me by surprise. Caroline is so nice and I feel bad that I want her out, but damn while she is there nothing is going to plan lol. Can't wait to read more and see how everything is going with Jillian and her book, and of course how is life with Brian.
These stories can get very detailed so if that would bother you these stories are not for you. On another note these characters crack me up! They are all so close and open with each other. Victoria comes up with the craziest ideas and the others do it. Sometimes it takes some coaxing but she eventually gets her way. I love Brian and Jillian together, I am always wondering what they all will get into next.
I have come to care for these characters as I have gotten to know them from the very beginning. These books can't be read alone. I think it would be easier to follow the story if you start with book one since they all pickup where the last one leaves off.
This was a quick easy, sometimes crude romance. A LOT of talk about Anal as well...
Written by a man that instantly intrigued me. Hence why I picked it up. It made me LOL at times.. supporting characters are great. This book in particular pissed me off at times, with not going how I wanted it too!
It was OK... it did make me want to read the rest of their story, so I continued on with the series.
I don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy!
I have to say I love this series. Mr. Young did not disappoint with this book. There were times I was laughing so hard that my sons where both asking what was so funny. Jillian and Brian finally get married in this book. These books are just so much fun to read. I would recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a fun story line and a group of characters that are fun, sexy, and relatable, and a story line that has you laughing out loud. I Highly Recommend this book and series.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the first 2, partly, conversely, because the storyline seems more important now than the fun, lighthearted element to the books. I'm sure that's what it's meant to be like but for me the storyline was unrealistic and the sex scenes all very samey, which meant it did seem a slower read than the previous 2. That said, I still enjoyed it and I will most likely read book 4 (just hoping we see the back of Natalie soon! and not in that way!)
There were some really funny scenes in this book and all I’ll say is just one word...waxing! I love when an author can make me laugh out loud! I also liked the drama and sexy, hot lovemaking. Now, I still love all of the main characters but there are some unlikable like Natalie. She is a scheming little tart! What is this place Rob lives at?? Another mystery!
Altogether the story continues from book to book. I hate cliffhangers but since I already have up to book 8 I’m happy!
Okay, now this was really dumb for me to read. Yes, this third book in the series was already on my Kindle, but I should have deleted it when book 2 was no better than book 1.
Ok, truth be told, I have no idea why I keep reading these. Maybe it is because they are so short and easy to read, perhaps because they can be funny in an over-the-top kind of way. Or maybe just because they are free. Whatever the reason, I just finished book 3 and I'm pretty sure I'mma read book 4 since I have it. If you liked the first two books in the series, I'm sure you'll like the third and if you hated the previous two... you get the picture. Thankfully, there was no "Moonlight Path" jokes but the weird friendship and silted conversations between Jillian and Victoria were present. Lots of sex, so if that isn't your thing, stay away. This book is exactly what you would expect from Young, a little plot, lots of hanky-panky and terrible dialogue.
Brian and Jillian finally tie the knot. BUT...Natalie, the "leg-thing" girl from Brian's past is trying to cash in on Jillian's newest book release. Her new book is fiction, yet it's loosely based on her. It also happens to be a best seller too!! After being contacted discreetly by Jillian's agent, who chose greed over loyalty to his best client, she pursues a huge lawsuit. She proceeds to hire a prominent attorney, known for winning certain lawsuits, and in exchange for sexual favors he takes her case pro bono. That alone should define her character clearly.
The book said she wasn't stable, she plays with boys heads until she was bored, she was a "technical-virgin," was a liar, etc. Nothing wasn't untrue. Jillian changed all the names.
But her agent had guaranteed her that he had cleared everything through the legal department otherwise she NEVER would have published the novel. So that was the second time that he screwed her over.
As for Jim and Victoria...well they are pregnant. They both love each other, but Victoria can't let him throw away what he has with Caroline, to be with her. For the first time ever, she's not going to be selfish. She is thinking of someone else. So she let him go. I hated that so much. I really wanted them to be together. Ugh!!!
I am continuing to absolutely love this series! As soon as I finish this review I am moving on to book 4, Friends with Extra Benefits (correction, I accidentally started book 4 before finishing this review; I am that excited to get started). These books are just so much fun to read. So far, I would recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a good laugh and is looking for an intricate plot line with a lot of interesting characters. Luke Young has made the characters so real. You either love them (Jillian, Brian, Victoria, Jim), or you hate them (such as Natalie, uhg). And other times you just aren't quite sure what to do with them (Rob comes to mind for that one). Regardless of how you feel towards the characters, they all have such unique personalities that are incredibly engaging. Young tells it how it is. He doesn't tiptoe around language or assorted sexual situations. He is unapologetic as he drives his story forward into even more hilarious scenarios. These books are just a hoot and a half and half. Enjoy!
In the third book of the Friends with Benefits series, we get to see a wedding, a kind of engagement, an agent who tries to cause so much trouble that it is't funny. What happens when Natalie is sent a copy of the latest book with an article from the paper? Who is Josh and how does he get brought into this whole debacle? Once again this is another book of totally erotic sex scenes that are fairly graphic. What do you expect of Victoria at this point? Not to mention everyone else. Things really heated up in this book and got interesting. I cannot wait to continue reading the series, so that I can see what happens next with Natalie and the lawsuit issue. Is it wrong of me to hope for certain outcomes that may not be so happy for her? Or for Josh? I hope Albert gets what's coming to him! Enjoy the read.
Love it! So super funny and sexy! All the characters blend very well together in a crazy funky way. The main characters (Brian & Jillian) are a great super couple who have an amazing love for one another. Then you have Brad's brother Jim and the his loves Caroline and Victoria (who is Jillian's best friend). I really like Jim and Caroline together I think they make a great couple. Victoria is my favorite character in the books she is amazingly funny and very entertaining. She comes up with the best ideas ever! I want her with someone but I have yet to meet them in the books. She deserves someone amazing! Jillian's son Rob and his story line is really starting to build (I think). I can't wait to read the last book in this series because I am dying to find out how it all ends.
This is the third book of the series. Jillian's wedding to Brian is nearing and couple have a new issue to face. Jillian's new book was just released and not doing so well. Albert who is Jillian's book agent comes up with a publicity stunt to sky rocket sales of the book. He Sends a copy of the book to Natalie and she decides to sue for not having her release and for damaging her reputation. They are dealing with wedding plans and the lawsuit. What other surprises are in store for the couple before and at the wedding? Will they tie the knot?
This story was a doozy with all the secrets that came out. I loved how the story unfolded and how character's reacted to what they found out and still kept there friendships intact.
Good read, but I don't think I enjoyed this as much as the other two books. Maybe it's because it's been awhile since I've read the last one, but Young's writing started to annoy me here. All his characters say, "I, uh,..." during difficult situations, and they're constantly saying it! Mix it up, a little! I'm not one to complain about stuff like this but it bugged me here. Still, the guy can write fun reads.
Don't know if I'll read the last book in the series. If I see it as an Amazon freebie, I'll snatch it up for sure, like the other two, though I bought this one to show my appreciation for the others.
Erotic 18+ This is the third book in the Friends With Benefits series. Jillian and Brian are getting ready for their Caribbean wedding. Her latest book comes out and it is really starting to sell but someone sends Natalie a copy and she decides to sue Jillian. Jillian thought the lawyers signed off on the book. Jillian and Brian decide to forget about it until after the wedding. Things heat up at Rob's job and apartment building. This was the one section of the book that I did not like. The sex was too gross for me. Jim and Caroline get closer. Victoria is doing well with her pregnancy. Will she tell the father? But it all explodes at the wedding.
I love this series. There is a lot of laughs, romance and sex. The characters are well developed and have great depth. This is a story I would read again and I did but the whole series. Overview. Brian and Jillian's wedding is getting closer. Victoria's pregnancy is starting to show and she still has not told the father. Robs job is going good but there seems to be some mystery stuff going on with his crazy boss. Jim decides who he wants to be with even though his heart is torn in two. Plus the crazy trial is coming up. Lots of drama.
This is the 3rd book in the series and you really need to read the first 2 to appreciate this book. In this installment there is so much going on...with all the couples! While this still made me laugh and had a good dose of sexy, there was more drama in this one as well. I'm starting to liken it to the Sitcom 'Friends' that I would never miss back in the day. It has a little bit of everything, even the serious episodes still showcased the friendships and the love while still making us laugh. I just love the writing style and these characters. Keep giving us more Luke Young!
Uninterrupted humour! (with this combo of book 3 & 4). Just can't help wanting to find out more about Jillian, Victoria, Brian, Jim, and their gang. These two books will take you for a ride along with more mayhem, crazy relationships, jealousy, surprises, etc., and of course, with unusual love and sex thick in this stew of unorthodox lifestyle, or just about everything, actually, of which they try to live "normally" with different strokes. You've got to love the gang simply just for dare to be different.
Back to mostly Brian & Jillian; this book was very soap-opera'ish with all the sub-plots! There was Brian's job, Jillian's book release with Natalie mixed in, Jim & Caroline (whom I hope make it through), Victoria & her wild thoughts, Rob & Laura...who need to just finally break up & now a twist with Brian's job! Through all the twists...I have to keep reading to see how it all turns out! heck who's Bridget now???
