A lifetime New Englander, Suzanne married her college sweetheart and has been with him for over twenty years. Every summer she drags her husband and two daughters to Maine on a quest for the perfect lobster dinner. Every fall she can be found down in Foxboro, Massachusetts cheering on her favorite football team. In between those trips, she’s a chauffeur, a maid, a chef, an event planner, a hairdresser, a wardrobe stylist, a tutor and a sometimes masseuse. To keep her sanity, she often drinks copious amounts of coffee and stares at the blank screen of her laptop, dreaming of great adventures. Sometimes she even writes them down for others to enjoy.
Suzanne is represented by Deidre Knight of The Knight Agency and writes mainstream romances under the pen name Ava Conway.
Another in my "sexy, misunderstood shifters need love too" phase of reading. Sometimes you just want a certain type of book. You now, one where the hot, presumed dead love interest talks the heroine into having a Christmas Eve tryst on the roof of her house. Yeah. One of those. It always makes it so much better when the sexy shifter happens to be the love of said heroine's life and the one she's been pining over since his mysterious disappearance years before.
I know it probably sounds like I'm making fun of this book, but I'm not. Guys, this was exactly what I wanted to read. It was sexy, holiday-themed, and it looks to be part of a much larger story. In fact, that's my only complaint- because it's the first piece in a larger story, it lays out some plot threads that don't get tied up. You get the resolution with Zach and Chloe but there's a whole other thing going on with the Pack that Zach's been spending the last 11 years of his life with that is left dangling. It's like cliff-hanger central! Because I want to know what's going on! Dang it.
Overall, I liked the story. Chloe does go into a radical personality tailspin when Zach slinks back into her life by tossing aside the life her family has forced her into, but the author lays out her restlessness and dissatisfaction with everything she's been forced to take on since her brother's death well and it doesn't seem implausible.
It is extremely rare for me to give up on a book. Even the ones I give a single star rating to, I've at least finished because I am aware of the time and effort it takes to write a book.
However, when I get to the 27% point in a book and it has been almost entirely sex, or sex oriented, with no emotional content, no content that makes me think of the characters as anything other than literary porn stars, it's time for me to put the book down.
Don't get me wrong, I like a well written sex scene as much as any other woman. But it should be a delightful side dish and not the entire meal.
I read this because it was supposed to be a holiday read, but there wasn't really much "holiday" about it, except the time frame. In this one, Zach disappeared about ten years ago. He and Chloe were going to be married, but before that could happen, Zach went on a hike with Chloe's brother and her brother ended up dead and Zach went missing. He had been attacked by a werewolf and survived, which meant he became one of them. In the first several years after becoming a werewolf, the monthly full moon causes a sort of insanity that can only be abated with sex. But rather than have meaningless sex with faceless women, Zach asked his pack leader to chain him during the full moon so he wouldn't hurt anyone. And all he wanted to Chloe anyway. Awwww!
Now, ten years later, Zach can't resist the pull of Chloe, so he watches her from the shadows as she wishes to the moon that she had a different life. His idea is that he'll just see her, see she's OK, and then go away again. He doesn't trust himself with her because it is, after all, a full moon. Well, of course, he sees her and needs to have a taste of what he's been missing all these years. Not sure why Chloe would allow a stranger who she can't even see have sex with her on the roof of her home (or in a hotel room after that), but maybe there was something familiar enough about Zach that she felt comfortable enough with it. More stuff happened. Lots more sex. And a fairly weak quasi-suspense plot about Chloe potentially getting married to a jerk and another nasty pack moving into position to take over Zach's pack. The ending was quite rushed, but a little sweet. I'm pretty sure this was a freebie, though, so for a freebie it wasn't bad. I didn't dislike it, I just wish there were more things hashed out.
Up on the Housetop is a steaming sexy paranormal romance story, that I really enjoyed. I was suppose to have been reading another book instead of this one, but by the time I looked at my kindle and seen the name of the book I was too involved with reading it to put on by breaks and stop. This is a great story about finding a lost love. I loved the emotions, passion and connection between the hero and heroine.
Chloe had enough for one night and goes up on her housetop to escape life. She ends up yelling at the moon and throwing her bottle of champagne off the roof, think about how her life has taken this turn. As she is going through things in her mind about her past life, she finally notices her bottle never hit anything, she then asks if someone is out there? After a few times of asking, someone appears behind her and she is faced with a man that seems familar in ways. What connection does she have, this unknown man? You’ll have to read and find out. I will say this is an emotional read and some things maybe hard to take in, just remember if you lost your loved one and they never contacted you and you moved on in life then all the sudden they are there, you may not do things as you think.
Zach can’t take it anymore, he has to go and get his love The thing is he has changed in more ways then one and Chloe may not be able to handle what he has become. I loved the way Zach is persistent and won’t let Chloe go.
I recommend this to erotic paranormal romance readers.
First off, this was a First Day of Christmas Free Read special from All Romance EBooks. Download the book for free here
Okay, the plot line could do with some extra work, but the erotica scenes were definitely yummy enough.
This was a new take on the whole werewolf/shifter type erotica paranormal romance for me. Less the woman caught between two packs and more the woman who loves a man who just happened to get bitten by a werewolf. I like how there was a sort of HEA ending, although the plot didn't really flow all that well (there were a few places where I had to say: REALLY? People don't think like that!)
Still, it was a fun, short, Christmasy read. If you want a free erotica ebook, maybe this one is for you!
It has an interesting beginning and yes it does start on Christmas Eve but aside from the time of year it's not a holiday story at all. I did like Chloe and that she gave up so much for her family but her life was essentially on hold. Not good. There were lots of interesting tidbits about the werewolves in this world and since this looks to be the start of a series there are plenty of threads left dangling in the end. Zach is interesting but a never did really understand why he waited eleven years. I understood the need to get his inner beast under control but that did not over a decade, so I think the author should have changed the timing a bit. Anyway, it was enjoyable and seeing them work through their trouble was fairly well plotted, if a little simple. Did I mention that even for a book of this short length the author still managed to get in several quick bouts of sex.
This story read very fast. I didn't realize it was a short and thank goodness it was free. It's totally for the lonely desperate housewife. Definitely not something I'd normally read but thought maybe it'd get better but it was over before it even began. A total "naughty nooner".
Since Zack went missing when he and her brother Marcus went hiking in the mountains 5 years ago Chloe has been burying herself in the family business trying to help her father get over the loss of his son as well as be groomed to take over the business, even if this meant giving up all of her dreams. Now that Zack is back can she pick up where they left off or has too much changed?
Join Zack and Chloe in as they jump into the past and hopefully even start a new future. It is a decent book but again a book that leaves more questions than answers so unless you are in the mood to seek out the entire series I wouldn't recommend it.
Hard to review as it felt like the first half of a book! It was a simple plot which was basically just there to facilitate the sex scenes....not complaining about that! It becomes apparent that the wolfboy can only control his "wolf rages" by having sex immediately....which our heroine doesn't mind as she is somewhat of an exhibitionist! I liked it....long lost love returns as a werewolf and proceeds to pounce on girl at every given opportunity (the first couple of times she has no idea who he is) and then they get a HEA. As a previous review states a lot of plot points appear and never get finished....you will have to read more!!
If you dislike cliffhanger stories, don't bother. The author kept the story pretty shallow and left the characters undeveloped. There is little character growth but some angst. She could have done better with how Chloe's new bf was using her and her relationship with her parents and teen sweetie better developed with flashback scenes. Nothing in the story made me want to buy the next book. I recommend Chicagoland Vampires for your paranormal read fix.
Some exciting sex scenes, yet it felt a bit ridiculous really. As if a modern 30+ year old woman is going to spontaneously get it on with a complete stranger on the roof of her family home.
Still I can see the makings of an interesting series, with wolf packs in charge of Casinos in Vegas & Atlantic City. And who in their right mind would leave a list of wolf high rollers on a laptop that could be stolen by the rival pack?
This is a story about a poor little rich girl who's fiancée was attacked and turned, her brother didn't survive the attack and died. The fiancée, Zachary, stays away for five years then while on a business trip stops by her house to see her but not be seen...except he ends up having sex with her instead. The story continues on from that point. The sex is steamy but there's a side story going on about Zach's pack and there are a few twists.
Intriguing beginning, though there is a bit of an "info dump" in the first chapter that slowed the action. Had some difficulty getting a sense of the heroine's age. I read "middle age" somewhere but got the impression she was younger by what was happening at the start of the story.
Would have given it a high rating if there was more action or angst. The heroine is engaged but that love interest is quickly taken care of. The difficult family situation is quickly dispatched and both hero and heroine seem to be rushing off to their HEA. Also, a lot of repetition in the love scenes, but I will be continuing to the next book to find out how the story progresses.
I think I am really going to enjoy this series. This first book introduces us to Zack and Chloe who have loved each other forever until something tragic happens to Zack. We get a little backstory, but I wish there had been more. Hopefully we will learn more about these characters as the books progress.
Simple plot leading up to sex sex and more sex! It felt incomplete. I did not hate it but I had trouble liking it. I heard the series is being re-released... perhaps it will be expanded as well. The whole wolf rage thing was a little weird too. But overall it was an entertaining read.
I could not get past the first chapter. Who starts a story were the woman has sex with a man that sounds familiar by voice but can't place him, the first night? He over obsessed about being a wolf in the first half too. I just couldn't rap my head about reading any more so I quit.
The story was okay. We meet as i would call it star crossed lovers who we forced apart and found there way back to each other. Will be iit be smooth? Will she give up everythiong for him? Will she accept his true self? What will hapen when she learns the truth? What will hhappen next?
Excellent story, but the ending kind of leave you hanging. There is a second book in the series so I will have to check it out to see if it has any more insight.
