Satan's Master

He believed she'd betrayed his trust

To be honest, Sabina couldn't blame her father for her current predicament. If she hadn't found famous singer-songwriter Joel Brent in his secluded Scottish cottage, she'd never have fallen in love with him.

But it was her father who was forcing her into a loveless marriage. And it was her father who led Joel to believe that Sabina was a reporter, out for nothing more than a story for a cheap scandal sheet.

She could fight her father, but she could never erase Joel's contempt for her....

Playful, OTT story of a 19 year-old heroine who is being forced to marry her father's twice-divorced 45 year-old business partner. Six weeks before the wedding, she goes on walkabout in Scotland, gets lost in the mist and finds reclusive thirty something rock star hero who supposedly killed his girlfriend in a car crash. It is the hero who introduced himself as "Satan's master" - Satan being the black cat that came with the cottage he is renting.

The heroine is the TSL type who calls her father "daddy" and bounces around in tight t-shirts and no bra and is mystified when men leer at her. The hero is embittered and thinks the heroine is a journalist (LOL - I doubt the poor dear could operate a typewriter -she's that vacuous) so he decides to keep her there so she won't leak his location to the press.

The villains and heroes seem so obvious. But CM decides to invert some of the timeless vintage tropes:

Lots of silliness and misunderstandings - esp. the last third with everyone changing partners like a square dance.

I knew that Caroles books from the 80s are the best, this one proves it.I just love the title to this one,"Satan`s Master"...and Satan is a cat,and the cats master are the hero in this story, the tortured famous singer Joel Brent. With surprise and distrust he will have to invite the beautiful Sabina Smith to his cottage, and there a unlikely love-story will be created between them.

I love this book,as i always LOVE all of Caroles books.Joel is a OH SO WONDERFUL hero, his machoism,Alpha-character,and his so obvious love to the heroine Sabina, made me just melt!
Sabina is a really honest heroine and i just wished the misunderstanding weren`t between them, but i knew soon that Joel fought to claim her.The supporting characters Nicholas and Fancy also had their romance, which i just wanted to be done with so Joel and Sabina could finally be together.

"Satan's Master" is the story of Sabina and Joel.

A totally enjoyable HQN read!
We have a recluse hero who's an artist hiding from media, and is accidentally tracked down by the heroine when she gets lost in Scotland. He accuses her of being a reporter, turns out she is the daughter to the most notorious one, and being coerced to marry a much older man! Thus we have a super naïve heroine, a smitten but temperamental hero, a suspicious OM, a nice OW, a crazy dad and a super adorable cat adding loads of spice and drama to this very predictable plot.

Good one time read. I mean my favorite character was definitely the cat, the dad was hella sketchy- getting his child abducted and married to a "abusive" dude, and the OM slap thing totally made me cringe. The ending was super cute though!

Decent book with some OTT actions and some loose plotting but a decent oldie. I did appreciate the ending. Unlike many HPs the ending was quite hefty and satisfying. Although he did wait until after they were married to tell her he loved her. I could see this one rewritten and updated in the style of rockstar romances which are popular nowadays.

Typical romance/love novel. Good plot, but predictable (then again it is a romance novel). Some phrases are repeated a lot in the book. Quick and easy read.

My first ever Mills & Boon and I'm 51 years old! I was hoping for some black magic but it turned out that Satan is a cat and his master his a handsome pop singer. It was funny but pretty bad and the attitude from the time it was written seems pretty alien these days.

You would think with a title as awesome as this there would be some badassery inside. Alas, 'twas not to be. The h was hands down one of the most pathetic, sniveling, cringing little doormats that I've ever had the misfortune to encounter in a M&B romance. She fell 100% 'in love' with the H within the first 12 minutes of meeting him, and no matter how nasty he was to her she simpered and groveled and self-flatulated herself with 'oh but I love him, I love him so...' gag. If a man said 'do this', be it her father, her fiance, that asshole bloke in the cottage or even the bloody cat, she would scuttle about like a pathetic little spider while twittering 'yes yes I will I will'. Fuck, I hated her.

On top of being a wretched excuse for a woman, she was also kind of a raging bitch about the edges. She was perfectly happy to have an affair behind her finance's back, she was viciously jealous of a dead woman, was happy to lie and twist about the truth at every opportunity and to make up sad little excuses such as house-hunting or checking on the cat to carry on her intention to have an affair, she creepily stalked the dude she was obsessed with in spite of PROMISING to marry another guy (and we are told over and over she never breaks her promises) and in a moment of anger she threw the cuntiest, cruellest, nastiest comment she possibly could at a guy to hurt him as much as possible, then blubbed about it afterwards like a baby. Yup, I haaaated her lol.

The devil to pay...

Sabina couldn't completely blame her controlling father for her current predicament. Finding famous singer-songwriter, Joel Brent, in his secluded Scottish cottage, is the best thing to ever happen to her.

But now she's being forced into a loveless marriage and her father has ruined her chance at happiness with Joel--by leading him to believe that Sabina is a reporter for a tacky scandal magazine! Can Sabina find the strength to escape her emotional captivity and convince Joel of her true feelings?
