Grant Morrison has been working with DC Comics for twenty five years, after beginning their American comics career with acclaimed runs on ANIMAL MAN and DOOM PATROL. Since then they have written such best-selling series as JLA, BATMAN and New X-Men, as well as such creator-owned works as THE INVISIBLES, SEAGUY, THE FILTH, WE3 and JOE THE BARBARIAN. In addition to expanding the DC Universe through titles ranging from the Eisner Award-winning SEVEN SOLDIERS and ALL-STAR SUPERMAN to the reality-shattering epic of FINAL CRISIS, they have also reinvented the worlds of the Dark Knight Detective in BATMAN AND ROBIN and BATMAN, INCORPORATED and the Man of Steel in The New 52 ACTION COMICS.

In their secret identity, Morrison is a "counterculture" spokesperson, a musician, an award-winning playwright and a chaos magician. They are also the author of the New York Times bestseller Supergods, a groundbreaking psycho-historic mapping of the superhero as a cultural organism. They divide their time between their homes in Los Angeles and Scotland.

I love Grant’s writing so much. They’re never afraid to go full insane without even a hint of embarrassment.

Issue #7
A dying god’s kindness echoes louder than his power.
Superman’s remaining time is spent making the world better in ways that aren’t always showy — creating cures, giving hope, mentoring the future. This is a meditation on purpose in the face of death. He doesn't rage — he repairs.

Bizarro gets his turn on the All-Star too, or should I say, he doesn't? I do get often confused about when a no means a yes in Bizarro's mind, pretty inconsistent in many stories.
It's Christmas time, and Superman is letting that sun-eating creature he had in the fortress loose on space, and suddenly bizarros attack. On Earth, the cube-shaped planet of the bizarros hovers in the sky, and as a Christmas gift, it's raining bizarro men, Hallelujah.
Superman gets and idea that works and saves his friends from the Daily Planet; unfortunately he is stuck in Bizarro World as his powers begin to fade there, but a mysterious Superman-esque figure introduces himself as Zibarro. To be continued...?
Well, this certainly was lacking in the high level of crafting the previous issues had: there isn't much cleverness into the layout, storytelling or exploiting the idea of Bizarro in a different way; this stuff we've seen in many other Supes stories. The art and coloring excel as always and there's even some funny moments with the Daily Planet crew, and some classic Superman vs Bizarro action in the meantime. Dare I say, we're halfway done with the series and Superman's supposed sickness doesn't seem to bother him yet, nor does it seem like it means much as of yet. It might as well have been introduced in the next issue given how little it has resonated with the story so far. I know were it leads up to, but I just hope it doesn't feel rushed later. This is just a good issue, after having many great issues, so a bit of a step-down. Nonetheless, this is a quality comic and that's what matters. Hope this isn't the sign of a nosedive.

What could possibly go wrong for PROJECT exploring the underverse for their missing bizzaro technician? As it turns out…quite a lot. Especially when you discover a new life form while exploring. To Superman the effects of this don’t show themselves immediately, he goes about his day dropping off his suneater near Saturn before it can grow too large in the fortress. Only to fly back home and suddenly be attacked by a group of featureless bizarros! All featureless except one…which has taken his backwards form! All leading and pushing him towards their cubed reversed earth hanging right outside of mars!

Back on Earth no one knows what is happening either, they are just enjoying the Christmas festivities, until the sky starts falling and bizzaro shaped meteors start crashing down! One of them even made it into the daily planet and touched poor Allie, suddenly turning the clone into a version of Allie, and causing Allie to become more like bizzaro! As what was the real Allie leaped towards the rest of the daily planet, Lombard was quick to dodge and toss her out the window! Quite horrific by itself, but there really is no cure…except for Steve himself! It seems that he may actually be immune! No time to quell on that now, it’s time to get to the roof and to safety and Jimmy needs to get Superman on the horn now!

And it seems they have their wish, Superman crashes down to Earth and as a child looking for a hero runs up to him…he realizes just too late that it’s the bizarro version of Superman! Luckily our Superman was right behind him, ready to throw a jet engine into him to keep him away. Using some of his new powers he was able to knock bizarro superman into space! Giving him just enough time to zip over to the daily planet and save the team as they were attempting to escape in a holiday blimp that Jimmy commandeered. Jimmy was also able to get on the home with Quintum, who thought they changed that number, and Quintum was able to confirm a few very helpful details. The creature is a planet eater from the underverse, mimicking our world to appear less threatening. It attacks with highly contagious material that copies and infects its targets. And yellow sunlight appears to make the creatures sick! But the time Superman saves the crew and drops them off they are able to deliver all this information to Superman. He was also able to find out that Steve is only immune due to all of the “performance enhancing” drugs in his system. But if sunlight is the cure how should we deliver the remedy! Jimmy thought up a giant space mirror to reflect the light…and Superman actually liked that idea. Not a mirror per-say, but if he could move the bizarro cube world just right. He could use the water to reflect the sunlight into Earth. Leaving Lois behind with a formula for a bizarro repellent, based on the drugs in Steve’s system, and a kiss…Superman heads off at max speed to blow up a mountain on the world. Effectively turning it and successfully reflecting sunlight onto Earth. The day appears to be saved, except this is only part 1 of a 2 part story. Superman is still on the cube world, and as it’s not really a world and really a giant parasite…it’s deciding it’s time to retreat. And as it goes into the underverse and increases its mass along the way, Superman has no chance of flying away in time! Superman is stuck on a world of bizarro’s and is along for the ride! But there is one voice that cuts through the bizarros. As it turns out, one in every 5 billion copies is flawed, unique, different…not mindless. Meet the Bizarro world’s version of Superman…you can call him…Zibarro.

Meh, I didn't like it that much, very confusing but that might be by design, but whatever I didn't like this one much.

I have always loved comics, and I have I can. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and hope always to love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.

Superman Comic Reading Challenge

Day 7 - All Star Superman No. 7

Bizarro Superman was probably my favorite antagonist in the Superman comics I read as a kid. This is a 2-parter so we'll give a chance to wrap up before I fully pass my judgement 😊

The first of a two-part story in the All-Star Superman run, this is a disappointing step down after the highs of the past couple of issues. I'm not looking forward to getting through the conclusion in the next issue, especially after the silliness of the very last panel.

Zibarro? This might be too silly of an idea, but I'll see where it goes.

Very underwhelming issue.

Another random ‘alien’ attack by bizzaro people. This whole issue is to set up the next issue and set up interest for the character Zibarro. Which there is very little of.

Bizzaro monsters all over the place and a cube earth makes things wacky. Sunlight is the weakness? Idk this issue was kind of out of left field
