Kor'sarro Khan: Huntmaster

Rate this book

On the benighted world of Gehöft, the White Scars battle the forces of Chaos, both mortal and daemonic. As plague spreads and darkness reigns, Kor’sarro Khan takes to the field, eager to take the head of the traitor responsible for the world’s corruption. But when his Dark Angels allies abandon the fight, the Khan and his bikers are forced into a deadly confrontation with the servants of Nurgle that threatens to damn them.

Read it because
It's a short but well-crafted tale that sees the Khan's speed and lust for battle used against him, and sets up a confrontation with the Dark Angels.

Competently written companion to the Sammael story. It's completely superfluous, though.

This one was a solid introduction story to Kor'sarro Khan's character, I feel. However, it suffered from involving Dark Angels, Sammael no less.

While I enjoyed the Khan's interaction with the Master of the Ravenwing, I felt like the scenario depicted made the White Scars lose out. In fact, Kor'sarro's squad is abandoned by his allies, as per the short description, and suffers greatly for it.

The Hunt does not succeed, which means that the Khan's role as "Huntmaster" is not actually satisfied here. The story does not show just how great a hunter he is, only states that he goes to great lengths to pursue his target even after a setback. His success may be featured in some other, future story, but certainly not here.
Sammael and the Angels steal the show - quite literally.

However, the story does make it clear that, while both Ravenwing and White Scars are bike-based, their philosophies and priorities are vastly different. Kor'sarro even feels a bit of envy, seeing how Sammael uses his jetbike, Corvex. Sammael himself feels quite ambiguous, which I liked a lot. The Khan, meanwhile, was very clear-cut and tried to figure out what kind of person Sammael really is.

Even though the Scars did not stand out nearly as much as I would have liked, I hope to see more of Kor'sarro Khan soon. More White Scars are always welcome. Especially after Chris Wraight's Legion-defining Horus Heresy novel, Scars.

Awesome look at Kor'sarro Khan and his brief assault on a target of the Great Hunt. Written in the first person, we get to see what Kor'sarro Khan thinks about the battle and his allies. It was a good little read, as I really enjoy getting to see the White Scars in action. Even if they are betrayed by their "allies"

Short

Was expecting a bit more. Love the white scars, but this kept me wanting. Alright for a quick download, I guess
