USA TODAY best-selling author Susan Stephens' books have captivated readers worldwide with over 11 million copies sold. Her work crosses cultures and continents, having been translated into 26 languages and reaching readers in 109 countries. This year marks a milestone as Susan's 100th book is slated for publication.
I love it when I read a book that I don’t have high expectations for and then end up falling in love with it. That’s what A Taste of the Untamed was for me. I loved and enjoyed this book so much! Ms. Stephens definitely has a beautiful way with words and storytelling. The story, the witty dialogue, the complicated-almost-an-ass hero, the take-no-gruff heroine, the dog buddy, the vivid description of the place, the people... everything just captivated me so much! And now I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
A Taste of the Untamed is the 3rd book in Susan Stephens fabulous Band of Brothers Series.
Nacho, the eldest Acosta, has been responsible for his siblings since the tragic death of his parents whilst he was still a young boy. He’s tormented by their death and is very protective of his family. Grace is a friend of Nacho’s sister, Lucia, who he had met previously in England and though he had felt an attraction, felt she was too young and insecure for him. Two years after Grace has lost her vision due to a virus, is now a sommelier and determined to be independent and never having to rely on anyone. She has been sent by her mentor to Argentina to assess the quality of Nacho Acosta’s wines. [image error] She’s gutsy, capable and smart and when Nacho discovers her blindness she’s faced with doubts of whether he sees her as a woman or just someone to pity. I liked the way that Grace’s blindness was written in such a lovely and sensitive way.
I loved the way Nacho describes things to her in such a visual way and trying not to be overprotective and soon discovers that she’s more than capable to work with him.
They soon realize that they are both attracted to each other and eventually they make love. I did want to slap the two a bit at times….come one…you both feel so much for each other..so why all the angst!!!! When they open up to each other and their feelings and discover each other’s pain and fears…so lovely.
There are some really beautiful and lovely scenes…when Grace learns how to ride a horse and so many more.
This was a truly romantic and sweet and love story.
The blurb picked my interest. The heroine made the book for me. Grace had “a virus” that deprived her of her sight and she is coping with her blindness. When she is confused, when she is feeling low, the only thing that save her is launching herself straight back into life. She is independent and strong willed, she is hell bent on doing everything she sets her mind to, letting nothing damp her spirits. Grace becomes a sommelier. she is sent to Argentina, to the vineyard owned by polo player and estate owner Nacho. They are attracted to each other, even though Nacho doubts Grace’s ability to do her job. But soon Grace earns Nacho's respect. And love ? Nacho has his own demons to fight first.
It isn't bad for a M&B story and I genuinely like the start of the story. But the cheesiness of it...yeah, that takes someone with a heart of a steel to withstand it.
Well colour me surprised this one was a little different from the norm although we still have the alpha, Argentinian, polo playing, playing H who gets tamed by the h who worked with Lucia from the previous book (although they are numbered in the wrong order on GR).
The h is now blind after a virus robbed her or her sight. There is no miracle cure in HPlandia today though folks our h is staying blind. After a period of moping and feeling sorry for herself her mate sorts her out a guide dog and it turns out she can be an excellent sommelier. So its off to Argentina to sample the H's goods wine.
H is not impressed that she has been sent instead of her boss but she eventually persuades him to give her a chance and she ends up saving his vineyard in the end. In between they get it on, don't talk to each other but these 2 were meant to be together. He carries guilt because his parents died and as a result he is the head of the family and h has a chip on her shoulder about accepting help because of her blindness and feels unlovable.
This is one of my faves of the series.

I wasn't expecting much from this book, but was pleasantly surprised. I liked the strengths and weaknesses of both leads, they were well-balanced overall. Decent story, pretty good writing, I'd definitely read this author again.
