Too close for comfort.

That sentiment describes Samantha's evening perfectly. Her showdown with Colton doesn't go at all how she planned, and Julian swoops in during a moment of weakness.

While he drowns his sorrows, she'll go digging for secrets, but she might not be ready to see what she finds.

Before she can begin to process the revelations, a late night phonecall leads to an encounter that will change everything.

Begin With Goodbye by Lilly Wright is part three in her serialized novel Begin With Goodbye.

After a nasty encounter with her mother in the last installment, Sam remembers why she never came back home. It's all about appearances and control and that's the last thin Sam gives a hoot about. Sam is only interested in the truth.

The story opens with Sam in the interrogation room at the Sheriff's Department with none other than Colton Thomas. The scumbag that raped her sister on prom night three years ago. He's practically drooling for her to sign an affidavit stating that she accuses him of raping her sister.

Something feels off. Luckily, Julian has been contacted by someone within the department that isn't corrupt and storms in the interrogation room to her rescue.

Sam's feelings for Julian are starting to shift and she is NOT happy about it. Julian tries to talk to her about their past and what was once between them, but drops her at the house and goes off on his own. This leaves her to do some investigation of her own around the house and she does not like what she finds. It leaves more questions than it provides answers.

At times I really, really wish BWG was a full length novel, because things are getting good. Everyone in this little small town has a secret or a lie that is just itching to be told. Police officers are in the back pockets of some wealthy men. Everything about this town is scandalous.

Not long after being dragged to the police station Samantha is face to face with the last person she probably expected to see...Colton the man that got away with raping her sister. Before the interrogation gets too far Julian puts a stop to things.

The chemistry between Sam and Julian is so overwhelming. I’m convenience it won’t take too long for Samantha to give in her desires for Julian. What I don’t like is the fact that he’s hiding something important. I get the feeling that when Sam finds out the truth,it’s really going to hit the fan.

While these smalls morsels that Ms. Wright is providing is really testing my patience. While it does satisfy my need in the moment, but its over...I’m left in agony.
