Wow, oh wow. This volume came out swingin'! The game master briefly explains why they are there and what's at steak, and then immediately proceeds to start their first game. For this game, several oni are released (each with their own unique power). To clear the game, the players must successfully kill off all the oni.

During this game, we are introduced to a few new characters (Mochida and Ushimitsu being the main two). There are real relationships being formed here. I am starting to feel like I know these characters, and that's a major plus for me. The volume ends with the students successfully completing the game. They are brought to the cafeteria for a break/meal, when the game master claims he has something to show them. A television turns on, and on it is Aoyama (Akashi's friend from volume 1)! It shows him playing the jump rope game from the first series, and Akashi looks horrified. Can't wait for volume 3! 5/5

So volume two is where the action really starts and you get to see Akashi being a badass. He is truly one of the best death game mcs! I absolutely love his progression through this series and I love his thought process too.
