I'm glad this is the last one I read (that my library has). It was super cute, very colorful and imaginative. I absolutely love these and they make me giggle. :D

**Spoilers to follow.**

The Amazing Journey
Dear Daniel is upset because he accidentally swallowed his chewing gum. Hello Kitty takes him to the doctor, who uses his shrink/grow machine to send HK, Tippy, and Joey in a vehicle to get the gum. They travel in through Daniel's ear, past his heart, and into his stomach. They go out in space suits, hook the gum, and carry it back out. The doctor brings them back to size, and as the others are walking out, little Joey mouse pushes the "Grow" button...

Fancy!
One page. Hello Kitty has her hair shampooed and cut, then something is put on it. I at first thought it was gel, but then we see her with a head piled high with turquoise hair! On it are bows, a boat, a bird...

Flight
Hello Kitty straps on her aviator gear, but is disappointed to find it raining outside so she cannot go out and pretend to be a plane. So she goes into the basement and sees all kinds of 'junk' down there. She puts her imagination to work and builds a beautiful plane to fly!

Point of View
Hello Kitty enters an antique store. Everything is in shades of gray. She's tapped on the shoulder by a colorful mad scientist Jodie who gives her a pair of glasses with a little bow on the left side. She puts them on and everything is in bright colors. She goes to Tippy's cheese shop, the aquarium, and a picnic with Daniel. When she wakes up the next morning the glasses are gone, and we see Jodie handing a pair with a banana on the side to Tim and Tammy...

I'm not exactly sure what was going on in this one. If it's a "rose-colored glasses" thing to help people having a bad day, or magic (it reminded me a little of the movie Click), or an alternate reality, or what...

Music
One page. Hello Kitty and friends are doing crafts. We see her and another friend (Jodie? I'm not sure.) working on something that turns out to be a drum. Everyone is playing music. Hello Kitty winks, then we see her wearing earmuffs. I think this means the music was too loud, or perhaps she didn't like it? Not 100% clear on this one either.

Portals
Hello Kitty and friends are playing a Dungeons & Dragons type game--yes, for real. It's raining outside. Jodie uses a portal gun to open a wormhole type portal. They all go through and end up in a fantasy quest chased by a giant troll/ogre. Hello Kitty uses magic to 'infect' it with love. Now it starts chasing them with heart eyes as Jodie opens another portal. This time they are on the pink planet (is it Mars? I'm not sure), but tentacle kitty does not make an appearance. Everyone is wearing a different alien/high tech costume. A giant robot comes after them. HK is wearing a similar suit and suggests robot + robot = love, but the big robot does not agree. They portal into other worlds, being chased by larger versions of their appearances--snails, Minecraft-esque block people, walking on tentacles, the crew with big eyes while being chased by giant floating eyeballs... Finally they end up back home at the game table and are excited, but Hello Kitty is looking out the window at a giant blue creature. We see a cthulu parent and child (wearing a red bow!), with the child opening a present of a dollhouse that HK and friends are inside!

The Easy Squeezy Toothpaste Maximizer
A two-page spread showing a Rube Goldberg machine (think of the game Mouse Trap) that Hello Kitty, Jodie, and Fifi have made. They are later joined by a small brown rabbit that was part of the sequence early on. At one point they all stop and have tea near the middle, after a boiling teapot completes another step. :) So cute. I won't list all the steps, but the final segment has a log rolling down a slide to squeeze out toothpaste!

Just Right
Dear Daniel goes outside and sees his bike is broken and in bad shape. He goes to the bike store where Tracy shows him different bikes, but he can't find one with/without the features he wants. Finally he points to something in the corner covered with a sheet. He pays for it with a slingshot and an old ticket (lol wut). He rides through town and we see everyone looking at him surprised as he goes by. He gets to HK's house and we see his new bike--a complicated, mish-mashed contraption (similar to Hello Kitty's junk plane in "Flight" earlier in the book). He's quite pleased.

Experiment!
We see Hello Kitty in close-up in a Frankenstein-esque sequence, wearing goggles and mixing beakers. She raises her hands in triumph! Then we see her with a plate of cookies at the snack table at the science fair. :)

Multiplication Problem
Hello Kitty is playing paddleball while Tracy works in her science lab. The ball comes loose from the paddle and HK goes to find it. She sees a machine Tracy has built and gets in. Nothing seems to have happened, but we see a sign HK did not that says "Warning: Under Construction" Uh-oh! Hello Kitties with different numbers on their shirts keep appearing. Tracy realizes what's going on and Hello Kitty (original, with a star on her shirt) wonders if the machine was working after all. Tracy wonders what to do with all these HK clones, and HK has an idea--they all play in a soccer game!

Just Imagine
Hello Kitty is coloring and across a two-page spread we see a busy, colorful futuristic city with flying cars, jetpacks, skyscrapers, a monorail...

Dreams
We see Mory the mole sleeping, his bedroom full of mobiles, rockets, and alien stuff. He dreams he goes to space in a rocket and meets a friendly three-eyed alien. He tells Hello Kitty about his dream, and has it again the next night. The next morning he comes up and sees everyone dressed as aliens to surprise him! They've even built space mountain backdrops and hung planets from a tree.

I picked up all of the books in this series my library had available, which is four in total, and they are not marked as a series in the cataloging, so I had to look up that information on Goodreads. It doesn't seem as if the series order really makes a difference, but I still wanted to see just in case. One interesting thing about this series is that there are little words to the whole series at all. It's mostly pictures with a few words that give context to titles, dates, locations, or brief reactions and expressions. Instead of each book focusing on one story, they are each a collection of short stories with different illustration styles as well. At first, I found this a bit disorienting, although entertaining, but as I continued through the story, I feel as though I learned how to "read" them.

Certainly, some stories and styles stood out to me more than others, but it was very interesting to see the many different characters of Hello Kitty illustrated in unique, fun, and exciting ways. I can definitely see the appeal here to younger readers, and while I didn't like that there weren't more words to the story at first, I came to appreciate the versatility this offered the stories. They aren't constricted by language, but rather rely on facial expressions, context, and other visual elements to guide the story. This grew on me as I continued to look through them, and broadened my perspective to seeing the value of this for struggling readers.

These are really cute, quick reads that I think appeal to a variety of readers and even non-readers. I recommend them for fans of Hello Kitty, reluctant or struggling readers, or kids who love kawaii and cute visual elements to their stories. They're very cozy, nostalgic, and reminiscent of youthfulness, adventure, and so much more. There are funny elements, silly aspects, and such a wide variety of topics and portrayals that appeal to so many different people. How fun! I can't wait to find more of these!

This... is so perfect. The portals story was my favorite where Hello Kitty and friends end up as tentacle monsters at one point and end up in the clutches of a Cthulhu like creature at another.

I have never read a Hello Kitty book before in my life and I can now say I'm likely to never do so again.
