Jake realizes that being a no-show for their nuptials was the worst mistake of his life. A little older and more mature, he is ready to fight for Ashly’s love once again. When Ashly sees him, she can’t deny the attraction she feels, but her hormones are overruled by the horror of what he did to her in the past. Nevertheless, Jake’s most potent weapon, those dazzling baby blues, ignites a spark in Ashly, no matter how angry she wants to be. She cannot deny the spark, and she only hopes the inferno it ignites will not consume her heart again.

Tangled Beauty by Kristen Middleton
Sinclair Jeffries thought she knew what she was getting into when her zany, gay friend, Jesse Eddington, talked her into portraying his girlfriend during his parent's anniversary party on Huntington Beach. That is, until she met Reed, Jesse's sexy as hell older brother, and ends up getting much more than what she'd bargained for.
Reed Eddington assumed his future was settled until he met Sinclair, his brother's so-called "girlfriend", but the raw, sexual tension between them is hard to ignore. As he watches their ruse from the sidelines, he finds himself wanting to uncover more than just their amusing little facade.
Sierra Rose is a stay at home mom and writer. With the support from her husband, friends, and family, she finally decided to write her first romance novel, My Despicable Ex, followed by the second book in the series. She hopes to write more romance books in the future.
Sierra is a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, and believes fairy tales can come true. She enjoys spending time with her husband of ten years and her wonderful children, ages 9 - 12. She has two cats and one dog. Sierra enjoys going to book clubs, camping, hiking, reading, jogging, and swimming.
It is hugely stretching it to call this a collection of "four steamy stories". For one thing, three of them are merely excerpts. There is no real plot development and as they just cut out mid-story, they are completely pointless unless you're going to cough up for the rest of the books. Plus, soz n'all, but I only found two of them even vaguely erotic. Poor form that.
Oceans Apart by C.J. Pinard - One Star
Here's the thing... I don't find macho shit enticing so marines/soldiers/whatever leave me cold. I didn't give a shit when stuff started happening to whatshisname in Afghanistan because I didn't care about the character at all. He wanted to play at being the American hero fighting the big bad terrorists. So he got shot at. Call me cold but it was his choice. No one made him enlist. On top of that, to have an author just stop a story before there is any type of resolution and then be all "to find out what happens buy my book"... I have no problem with authors offering free samples to tempt readers in. What I object to, is when they don't make it clear that it is only a sample before you read.
My Despicable Ex by Sierra Rose - One Star
Oh look, another story with no resolution. Even worse than the first one in fact, because by no resolution, I mean the story literally stops mid-scene, mid-plot with the cop out "to be continued..." Do you have any idea how irritating that is? Almost as irritating as the characters. Stop whining and get over it already! While you're at it, tell that runaway groom of yours that you'd rather die than let him see a penny. And just like that, you can spare us all from the boredom of your ridiculous fauxmantic vacation. No one cares.
Saving Forever by Lexy Timms - One and a Half Stars
Marginally better, this story was at least a little steamy... until it cuts out, pretty much mid sex scene. Oh yeah, another one which stops mid-story and then advertises part two - for god's sake authors, if you're only giving a sneak peek, then be up front about it! I can't give it a higher rating because unfortunately I found it pretty forgettable, barring a few of the characters who I do actually remember... disliking.
Tangled Beauty by Kristen Middleton - Three Stars
Last but definitely not least, Tangled Beauty was the saving grace. An enjoyable full-length story, with likable and diverse characters that doesn't stint on plot and actually had a proper ending. I especially liked the Sin-Jessie relationship. Lots of fun, those two.
This was followed by a sample of the next book, Tangled Mess. Take note people, because this is how you do a freebie to draw your readers in. You give them something good that they can actually get their teeth into - and then offer a preview of the next book, being clear that that's what it is! Nice one, Middleton. The rest of you could use some work.
