When Sora dies, Najika loses her sense of taste for a while making her not want to cook anymore. When the director tries to make her leave the academy, Daichi tries to stand up for her and protects her from his father. Will he succeed and allow Najika stay at the academy since she can cook again? Read on and find out for yourself.

This volume definitely gave me all the feels and I cried during this volume. I can't wait to see what happens next. Definitely check this manga out if you like cooking mangas and shoujo manga.

I couldn't have expected this volume, which is so sad compared to the previous 5 3/4 volumes. But it still has the characters that I love, the pretty art and the food, and the story that I have totally bought into.

OHMYGAWD WHAT DID I JUST READ?

This is soap opera times 1000. I cannot even right now. I loved the first 4 volumes so much... but it's not necessary to keep trying to up the stakes so much on these characters. They are beautifully crafted, let them be them. Everything was more interesting until all of the BS drama kept stacking up.

Literally just waiting for a giant shark to fall out of the sky and crush the academy, tragically killing everyone but Najika. That seems like the next logical step with how this is going.

I'm going to keep reading because I am emotionally invested in these characters, but damn this story is starting to blow.

At first I thought this series would be a typical, predictable but cute Shoujo manga. But this volume shattered that to bits. There was a death that was so unbelievable I started crying, and I still feel disbelief. There was something predictable in the preview for the next volume, but I have no idea how it's going to unfold. Loving this.

Poor Najika. This is a shoujo manga and it was brave for the author to "kill" one of the important character. Good to shoujo manga readers, it indicates that life in shoujo manga shouldn't always be happy, there should be two or three conflicts or a bit tragedy.

And go to hell that Sora-like guy, so annoying -_____-

(stejná recenze u všech dílů první série {to znamená, že nepočítám K. P. Omnibus})

Kresba vypadala moc hezky. Především musím ocenit vzhled a originalitu kulinářských výtvorů.

Dost mě i překvapil věk Najiky vzhledem k tomu, co všechno prožila, a k jejím milostným problémům.

A ta dá!

Review for compelte series.

Reread 2025

Najika was left orphaned but has a passion for baking and cooking. After the loss of her parents, she was so devastated that she wouldn't speak to anyone - that is until she met a boy who gave her comfort and a perfectly delicious treat. With nothing but a special spoon to go on, Najika strives to be an even better cook so that she may one day find the boy and repay his kindness by making him the best desert.

Kitchen Princess has a lot of the less good shoujo cliches and far too many coincidences; Najika is new to an elite school where she is disliked. She stumbles into the good graces of the head master's two sons who form the typical love triangle. There are your usual rivals and bullies and some of the drama feels extremely over the top. However, despite falling into a few common pitfalls, this series also has a lot of heart. I suspect it lies in the main subject of baking and cooking - while I have no special interest in either, it's just the way it's woven into the story that gives it a very wholesome feeling.

Najika is truly passionate about cooking and a lot of it focuses on her philosphy. She believes that making food for others is a way to make them happy, and each incident is indeed Najika finding ways to look out for people's welbeing and making them happy by means of the dishes she makes. The explanations and thoughts that go into these bring a lot of charm to this series which simply makes it stand out despite the otherwise extremely formulaic plot.

The remaining cast is largely likeable. One of my favourites is somewhat surprisingly Akane who starts out as a bully but has great character development throughout the series and ultimately becomes a great friend. The brothers typical roles of the calm and dependable Sora and the more rebelious and at times moody Daichi. As is often the case, Najika naturally gravitates toward Sora but it's just as clear that Daichi is as much a likely romance option. I never really warmed up to Sora so I didn't care much for their interactions and I liked Daichi well enough, but I'd argue that romance isn't what I enjoy most about this series. In any case, things become a little more complicate which puts a bit of a spin on the otherwise typical dynamics between these three. Also a little mention for Fujita, the seemingly lazy chef who lets Najika work in his diner. He seems to have a pretty interesting story even though we only get to see snippets in bonus chapters.

While I can't say that this is going down as a favourite of mine, I can appreciate why it's a popular series and I definintely did enjoy both my original and my reread. It's a cute little extra that each volume as recipes as the end. This is also one of those series where you see quite a leap in the art improvement - I enjoy Ando's art and while the earlier volumes are definitely cute, I really enjoyed the art from around volume 8 onwards.

Kitchen Princess was the first manga I had read back in high school. It was this manga that sparked my interest in baking. I wanted to be like the protagonist (Najika), sharing love with others through baking.

The protagonist, Najika, reminded me much of myself. Despite all the bad experiences I have gone through in my life, I don't want to hate those who have done me wrong before. No matter how much I wanted to give up, time and time again, there were always good people along the way that helped me to get back up.

I can still remember the first thing I tried to bake was a mug cake with oreo frosting on top. I gave it as a gift to my Scouting family, as they were really some of the important people in my life. They have helped in a lot of ways, encouraging me when I am in doubt or being looked down on by others, treating me like a friend/family, and more. And that is why I wanted to be like Najika...sharing love with others through baking. Seeing their smile just warms my heart very much!

A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple.

Le ricette a fine volume le ho AMATE, ottima idea, 10 out of 10.

Kitchen Princess 6 is a very emotional journey for Najita as she is trying to compete for a top baking award. She receives some very disturbing news and finds herself lost, not only to grief, but to her sense of taste as well. A struggling Daichi reaches out to help Najita, but there is a cost. Kitchen Princess ends a season and starts a new direction. I'm so engaged by this story that I have to read volume 7 to find out if Najita will find her resilience and remain the beautiful, positive, person we have come to know and love in this series.

I used to read this back in the day (15 or so years ago?!) on Nakayoshi and I used to drool over the food illo. I vividly remember the chestnut pie and the montblanc. Re-reading it again now, it's honestly not bad at all, I love that the food and the recipe still feels fresh and creative to me even now. It does use the love triangle and the typical classism trope that is so prevalent in private academy setting lol but overall it's just still really good and an instant serotonin boost for me!

Wow, just wow! This book is great! I think it may be my favorite within the series. Between Sora getting in an accident, Najika losing her taste, and that ending?!? Each word left me longing for more!! Yet again, the 'Kitchen Princess' series never fails to make me want to get up and bake myself a cake! 10/10 Yes! You should read it!!

Perdita.

3.5/5⭐️

I found some events melodramatic and I didn't cry(I'm HSP so I can cry easily) but this didn't work for me, and why the new character has to look like saro like what the heck!
Yet I love najika's relationship with food as an ex-dieter I wish Ifood had that effect on me.

The sudden tone shift of Sora being dead followed by the reveal at the end of the manga was so funny. It gives the impression that the writers knew they wanted the little brother to be the end game love interest but then made the older brother too perfect so they had to kill him. Very enjoyable.

I rlly thought this manga series is just cutesy, sweet, sprinkle and sparkle but nawh, it's rlly hurtful and emotional and that's a curve ball I didn't expect. It reminds me so much of Yumeiro Parissiere but more mature (it's like I matured over the years too)
