Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
starting with Ran being all suspicious of Shinchi! FINALLY!
1. okay the case in the first chapter really annoyed me, the husband no the ENTIRE family did not feel anything when they heard that the older brother's wife was killed (by the younger brother)i mean even if she cheated.
2. even tho i wanted to Ran to find out about Conan and the black org but at the same time, if she knew it wouldn't be that bad; i mean as Hibara said, Ran is strong.
3. OKAY WHEN SATO AND TAKAGI APPEAR in a case i die from happiness.
4. when it appeared that Yumi was the one who's getting all that jewellery lol!
5. the case of the robbery n suicide was like clever omg.
6. LETS GO WITH THE LAST CASE IN THE VOLUME!!! THE magicican one; first: HEIJI!!!!!
7. i love how heiji doesn't know he's jealous cute!!
all in all this volume is amazing because of heiji, kazuha, sato, takagi. off to the next one!!
Caso Put Your Cell Phones to Vibrate.
This volume picks up on a case from the previous and if you feel lost, I recommend picking up the previous volumes last chapter to gain context into the case for full enjoyment. This case was a good one and will meet the expectations of the regular Detective Conan fan. At this point, I don’t know many people who would just jump in without the context of the previous 46 volumes, but if you did…the characters and story may be very confusing. To the regular reader, this would be another walk in the park. The second story deals with Rachel suspecting Conan is Jimmy or at least his eyes and ears on cases (and with an ulterior motive…to keep Rachel from finding out about Jimmy’s other women! Ha ha ha). The next story within this volume involves the Junior Detectives and a robbery/suicide….or is it that straight forward? The final story of the volume deals with a magician being murdered! There are a lot of other magicians who could be suspects in this adventure, which takes a good chunk of the volume. Fun adventures as Detective Conan appears to have no shortage of cases or adventures that lie ahead.
Ran almost identified Conan as Shinichi yet again, but of course, Conan duped her. It was cute to see him solving and helping Mouri and Megure - because he was scared of Ran.
The case with Takagi was easy - even I guessed at the trick before it was revealed.
The last case was quite magical, pun intended. The most delightful part was Heiji finding it annoying when Kazuha flirted with other guys and Conan talking down to him.

General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
THE VANISHING PHONE AND THE DEADLY SECRET A distressed woman hires Kogoro to find her missing cellphone, fearing its contents will expose her affair. When she abruptly claims to have found it and dismisses Kogoro, the case takes a dark turn—she is later discovered murdered in her car. Investigating her family, Conan must unravel the mystery behind their seemingly airtight alibis: a voice behind a shōji, a shadow on the screen, and the lingering scent of pipe smoke. Can Conan expose the deception behind the perfect alibis?
JEWELRY HEIST AND THE FATAL FALL While visiting a jewelry store, Conan and the Detective Boys witness a robbery gone terribly wrong. As the culprit flees, he leaps from a rooftop—only to land fatally on a van below. At first glance, it appears to be a desperate suicide, but Conan notices subtle inconsistencies. The van belonged to the thief’s former boss, and the circumstances seem too convenient. Could there be a hidden hand behind the tragic death?
THE MAGICIAN’S LAST TRICK What starts as an evening of awe-inspiring illusions turns deadly when Conan, Heiji, Ran, and Kazuha attend a magic show. A daring escape act nearly goes awry, but the magician emerges unharmed—only for a real murder to follow at a private gathering of fellow illusionists. With secrets hidden behind sleight of hand and deception, Conan and Heiji must unmask the killer lurking among the magicians.
Conclusion of the murder of the cheating woman with the missing/found cell phone, in which Ran keeps an eye on Conan to see how he's keeping in contact with Shinichi - or maybe he is Shinichi! After the case is solved (by Mouri with hints from Conan), Ran gets ahold of Conan's cellphone to investigate his ties to Shinichi, but Conan devises a plan to protect his identity. Detective Takagi and the Junior Detectives are in a jewelry store (Takagi is trying to buy something for Sato) only to be interrupted by a robbery - following the robber to a roof top only to witness him jumping off the roof to his death! Only everything is not what it seems, and it's possibly a murder. Lastly, Conan, Ran, Heiji and Kazuha attend a magic show, and when they are invited back to a group of magician's apprentice's home, they become involved in a murder investigation where things are not how they seem. Heiji is distracted by Kazuha's friendly behavior to another guy, but Heiji doesn't recognize his own jealousy. Not a cliff hanger!
We begin this volume with the continuation of the murder of Tomoko, who was cheating on her hubby and who had lost her cell phone. The previous volume concluded with her death, right after she had "found" her cell phone. There were--surprising--quite a few twists in this story, and I quite enjoyed it. Later, the volume concludes with a case involving magicians, which takes place in a house full of tricks. It ends up that one of the three magicians killed the other, the female, out of pure jealousy. ------------------ One thing that bothers me is, everytime Rachel seems to have figured out that Conan is actually Jimmy Kudo, the thought keeps getting immediate squashe or dismissed. She realizes his secret, because she loves him. Who would she tell if he confirmed it to her?!? ----------------- This volume was presented to me as an eManga by VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Diesmal also kein fieser Cliffhanger.
I'm glad I took a break from this series and came back to it. I was starting to suffer burnout with the last volume, but after the break I'm really enjoying it again.
This is definitely a series you should take slow and not rush through. Otherwise, you get sick of it pretty quickly.
