Not as good as the main books in the series but it's still cute. The main character bean looks up to the cool beans and decides to go on this super slide. The bean gets scared and sees the cool beans approaching. They think the cool beans are going to make fun of them but the cool beans actually help the bean conquer their fears. There is a message about remembering you have people who support you and help you, so that's nice.
We're so proud of you for reading "The Cool Bean Makes a Splash!" You learned something wonderful - that it's okay to try new things even when you feel scared or different. The Cool Bean shows us that being brave means jumping in and being yourself! You can use this idea when you try something new at school or make new friends. Remember, you're special just the way you are, sweetie. Keep reading and learning - you're doing amazing!

This was cute. I thought that it was going to be a message about not being afraid to be yourself, but it's also about not having preconceived notions about anyone. The main character was afraid that the "cool" beans would make fun of them; however, it turns out that they were quite kind and really provided the encouragement and support needed for them to make it down the big slide.
Cute story. The Cool Bean didn't feel so cool in the pool. Other cool beans seemed to just be naturals in water and made him feel less confident. But then he decided to face his fears and for once "the cool kids" didn't taunt the scared kid. They were encouraging and friendly! Liked that it went that direction. 😄
Show kindness, support and encouragement. Some beans are cool and others really want to be cool. How can you be cool when you get shaky, nervous, and scared from the "scary things". Well it starts with deciding to take a chance and just doing it, and it's also better when you have others that you look up to that can help you along the way.

This is a cute early reader book that also teaches about friendships and helping one another out. The cool beans are the best swimmers at the pool, but willing to offer encouragement and support to a bean who is scared of the big slide. The text is easy to read and understand and the illustrations were fun and bright!
This book is nowhere as funny as books in this series usually are, though the chickpea shape of the main character is adorable. Even as an adult, I agree with the message that things are easier in the company of friends.
We love books by Jory John. This is a great addition to our summer reads. We are happy that the other beans were supportive. We thought this was going to turn out differently. "Sometimes I forget that there are plenty of kind folks who have my back." So sweet!
The Cool Bean notices all the other beans are having fun at the waterpark. Then Cool Bean sees the super tall water slide and longs to ride, but is too afraid. Fans of the Jory John books will love this newest installment. Highly recommended for Grades 1-2.
As far as I can tell, it's the exact same theme & plot as the primary cool bean picture-book. Which wasn't all that special in the first place. So, iow, a waste of paper.
Once again, a fantastic book in this series. Written simply enough for new readers to show off their skills, with adorable drawings and an important message for kids to take to heart.
