In the aftermath of last issue's stunning climax, Nightwing comes to Batman to find out how - or if - the Dark Knight can continue. Choices are made that will affect the entire Batman family, and there's no turning back! Plus, the shocking return of the last person you'd expect!
Joseph "Jeph" Loeb III is an Emmy and WGA nominated American film and television writer, producer and award-winning comic book writer. Loeb was a Co-Executive Producer on the NBC hit show Heroes, and formerly a producer/writer on the TV series Smallville and Lost.
A four-time Eisner Award winner and five-time Wizard Fan Awards winner (see below), Loeb's comic book career includes work on many major characters, including Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Hulk, Captain America, Cable, Iron Man, Daredevil, Supergirl, the Avengers, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, much of which he has produced in collaboration with artist Tim Sale, who provides the comic art seen on Heroes.
Batman #615 is another strong entry in the Hush arc, continuing to build suspense while delivering some standout character work. The real highlight here is the dynamic between Bruce and Dick—honest, layered, and full of quiet emotion. Their conversation offers a rare glimpse into the trust and history between them, grounding the issue in something deeply personal.
The mystery itself is still twisting and turning, and the Selina/Bruce moments add intrigue and tension. With stellar art from Jim Lee and tight writing from Loeb, this issue balances action and introspection beautifully. A solid, emotionally resonant chapter.
Batman realizes a bigger game is afoot after seeing Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Superman and even the Joker getting manipulated into working against him. The showdown with the Joker led to the death of his childhood friend, Thomas Elliot, and the shadowy figure that seems to have been stalking him appears to be none other than Harvey Dent/"Two-Face". As Batman mulls what the next move of his shadowy foe will be, Nightwing tries to convince him that he should consider revealing his identity to his current romantic partner. And so he does, with Batman revealing he is Bruce Wayne to Catwoman.
A stronger issue than the ones prior, the first real "twist" of the Hush storyline drops here. It's not the most elegantly woven in story beat, but otherwise it does set the stage well for the final acts of this arc.
The issue where Batman finally allows Catwoman to see who he really is; showing her his identity and saying she will not be the string that trips him up. The Bat and The Cat for life.
