This trilogy is one of my favorites. Read it years ago and still remember how much I loved it. It is about the Cameron brothers and their younger sister. When the Civil War breaks out, the older brother fought for the North (One Wore Blue) and the other brother fought for the south (One Wore Grey. They lived in a borderline state and were divided in their loyalties). The family was very close and it was difficult because they loved each other but knew that they might face each other on the battlefield. Their younger sister was left to take care of their home. After the war ended she, left to start a new life (One Rode West). The author did a great job of connecting the the series by weaving the characters in and out of each book.
This trilogy was one of my all time favorites. I could not put it down. By the time you finished the first book, One Wore Blue, the next book One Wore Gray was a must read and the last book in the trilogy, One Road West was my favorite of all.
If you have never read any of Heather Graham's work, she is a very gifted writer.
Wow! Another amazing book series by author Heather Graham!!! Absolutely love her historical novels! She writes so well that I can imagine being in that place and time. Her characters are well drawn out and you can feel all their emotions and struggles. I highly recommend her novels!!!
One Wore Blue was a little too slow and too detailed that I had to put it down and kinds brace myself to pick it up again. The heroine was a little to high strung for me and the hero patient and understanding (too patient and understanding in some instances). I found myself going "he's too good for you" in parts but all in all a story worth reading.
One Wore Gray was probably the best of the 3 in my opinion. A hero and heroine well matched in both courage, persistence and kindness. I enjoyed their battles, both emotional and idealogical.
One Rode West was the last and the most challenging for me to empathize with the heroine. The heroine was very short sighted in a LOT of her decisions and the hero incredibly magnanimous in his dealings with her. He embodies that "I will die for you" mentality, and I felt she was too wrapped up in her own troubles to truly appreciate him until it was almost too late.
I enjoyed the time arc throughout the series as well as the intertwined stories of this family.
