Batman #614 continues the tension in the Hush storyline with a powerful, emotionally charged issue. The spotlight lands on Batman’s brutal confrontation with the Joker, pushing Bruce to his limits both physically and mentally. It’s a gripping exploration of rage, restraint, and just how thin the line is that Batman walks.
Jim Lee’s art captures every ounce of that internal conflict with cinematic precision, and Loeb’s writing keeps the emotional stakes high. This isn’t just about the mystery—it’s about who Batman is when everything starts to unravel. A standout chapter in an already stellar arc.
(。•̀ᴗ-)✧ I have a funny confession: I preordered a facsimile of this issue for the Jim Lee cover months ago. I got it last week and it was the only Batman title (and I didn't note the issue number, which . . . Duh. . .), so I went in thinking it was the lead-in to H2SH . . .
🤦♀️
The whole time I'm reading, I'm thinking, "I've already read this. Did they just reprint an older issue?" (Like all the ads didn't give that away, too.)
🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yes. Yes they did. And I knew that when I ordered it. That was the point. Duh. Σ(ಠ_ಠ)
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Well I feel silly, now. 😅
For the record . . . I read Hush as a trade and enjoyed it, so no complaints from me on this issue! Lee? Sinclair? 🖤
An issue where Batman is on the verge of killing The Joker. Killing him for what he's done in the past and what he may do in the future. An issue where Batman reveals how much he's just those around him by not putting down The Joker before and how he cannot bare to see Catwoman as the next causality of The Joker to hurt Batman.
Legitimately one of my favorite comics of all time.
Absolutely stunning.

Tommy Elliot has seemingly been killed by the Joker, and Batman has now had enough of the clown. A vicious beatdown ensues, leading to both Catwoman and Gordon attempting to intervene to stop Batman from going too far. The Joker does claim his innocence, which is supported by the same shadowy figure appearing on a nearby rooftop observing the whole affair.
