Carter's secrets have finally caught up to him and for the first time in his life, he finds himself at a woman's mercy - a woman he's madly in love with. Obsessed with. And since Shayla needs time to sort out her own feelings since finding out Carter's true identity - that he is the brother of her deceased fiance, Jacob - Carter leaves their home to give her some much needed space.
Maybe space for Shayla is not a good thing, especially with the way she's feeling - betrayed and heartbroken. She knows she shouldn't feel so happy to spend time with another man, but she accepts a dinner offer from Donovan Sharper, her ex-boss, telling herself that she's just using him as a distraction from her life with Carter.
Shayla now finds herself in the midst of a convoluted mess. She knew being with a man like Carter wouldn't be easy, but she didn't know it would be this hard. And there are still secrets yet to be revealed that will make her see her relationship with Carter in a new light - that may even save their rocky marriage. That is, if she doesn't allow herself to be distracted by Donovan.

These two characters needed to communicate and work on themselves before getting married. They spend the book figuring out their relationship and their issues. This book didn't end so much on a cliffhanger like the others and I was able to stop after reading this. I skimmed through a lot of the book and only read dialogue or journal entries so I could finish quickly. This may be a book you could enjoy but these books play out healing in real time and not the fantasy you expect from a romance book. I enjoyed the overall storyline.
…Because this book didn’t need to be a series. Very well written fluffy PG rated romance drama. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the drama but as I’ve stated in my reviews of the previous books in this series, there was very little detail on the intimate bedroom scenes. As a matter of fact, the bedroom scenes were rushed through almost as if the author hates writing that part of her books.
This is not a steamy book so if you’re looking for that, try Brenda Jackson. A ton of childish drama that made my head spin. I was just sucked in to see how it all ended. I appreciate the drama but the fluff about what such and such wore or what such and such ate at restaurant ABC could have been replaced with more details in the bedroom. I mean geez, you write a book in 3 parts about this tumultuous but budding love between two people but deny your readers any of the steaminess of their intimacy that you so frequently toss about in the final book of their stories? Call me jaded because I’m done with Tina Martin and this foolishness.
WOW this is a amazing story! One that you can definitely enjoy. There is so much emotions with these awesome characters, but they have great chemistry. It's funny, thrilling and sad with parts that will bring tears to your eyes along with their drama element, but there is a part that's so sad and it's the one thing that brought tears to my eyes I had to make myself finish that chapters but the most of what I enjoyed is the time spent with the couple their unique relationship is enjoyable I totally devoured this story and when I finished reading the last page, I wanted more! I was so absorbed into how their relationship would end, it wasn't what I expected and it's a story with a cliffhanger. The story just flows so smoothly until the ending. There are humorous parts in the story and their attraction is off-the-charts! Plus I wish that I had known this story was a cliffhanger that way I could have been prepared for this but I really enjoyed their journey.
The story line was good but the book was way too long. We didn’t need thee books to cover a story that could have been summarized in one book. I was getting bored reading this series, I’m glad I complete it because I really wanted to see how it ends but lord I’m I happy it’s over. I went backwards with this authors book. I know This is one of her older work an the newer ones are amazing all 5 stars. But this one although it was written well the story was way too long an drawn out.
I am happy to say that Carter redeemed himself in the end. His relationship debacle at the end of book two took a little time to resolve. That storyline took us into an even deeper family secret, aside for Carter and Jacobs parental issues. Shayla still unnerved me with her content indecisive attitude.. It was her constant reaction every time. Carter's behavior bothered me a few times. But thankfully, he was able to pull things together in his actions towards Shayla. The conclusion was just what they needed to move forward.
I’m sorry but Carter did way too much apologizing while Shayla never ever was held accountable for any of her actions. This entire series she has acted like a child and always running. She ran cause she didn’t think she was good enough but left her husband out of one of the most important days of her life? I just need to know why so you authors make these woman so damn childish and immature?
Great idea for finding your soulmate, only to go through hell to stay together. both their parents had done a job on them. Brother, cousin, mothe , aunt, daddies all destroyed two young men and then it was the woman they both loved. Such a plot lies, detours, and confusion.
Ok final book. And I still think Carter is a bully. Lol But I think it stems from him not knowing how to properly communicate and express himself and his feelings. Anywho, I’m glad both Carter and Shayla have met their parents and had a happy ending. Oh and Donovan was a bold one but I’m glad Shayla didn’t fall for him.

Carter was a playboy didn't believe in love and then he met Shayla and all that changed, helping a homeless person was not his thing but she could not leave her there. Now all of the secrets are out and now they can live happily ever after.
A great read, this was a great book I am so happy for Carter and Shayla. I was worried that they wouldn’t make their marriage work. I am also happy that Shayla found her father and Carter found out the truth about his parents.
Warm, romantic, suspenseful. A sequel exploring Carter and Shayla’s life going forward would be wonderful. Allow your readers to experience their relationship with their newly discovered parents.
Great book , love the characters . Love the way she draws attention to the mental struggles Shayla is having . Carter is having problems with guilt and undesolved family issues . Clear conversations are key to relationships .
Shayla is a heartbreaker and doesn’t even realize it. Two men madly in love with her. But Carter has ‘bout lost his mind. Oh, how is Shayla going to handle this mess of love that surrounds her? Can Carter actually handle the truth? What is truth? Poor Jackie, so much is at stake; can she help shed light on the truth? In this last installment, very little is what it appears to be. Martin, penned an engaging mystery with all manner of crooks and turns.
This series was really interesting. While I understand that impact of family drama in both of their lives. Carter was so toxic and a weird. I would have loved to see more therapy for the both of them. And someone who man enough to stand up toe to toe with Carter and knock in down a notch. However Thank you Tina Martin I’m looking forward to reading another book from you
Can't wait to read what happens with Donovan, he seems like he has a story that's waiting to be told. Shayla meeting her family was a good thing. I figured something was up with Jackie when she didn't want to answer his questions but I didn't think she was going to drop a bomb like that. Plus his father being who he was was good but I'd love to have read about his excuse. I really thought Shayla was going to announce that she was carrying but I guess in another story or something. Great book.
