Struck by the beauty of the neighboring mountains and ranch lands and intrigued by the town's inhabitants, he quickly settles into his new life west of the Mississippi. But when the Lockwood sheriff is hospitalized, happenstance forces Grant to take up the badge. Plunged into the middle of a murder investigation, Grant must also juggle a budding romance and the townspeople's continuing curiosity about their new sheriff . . . who also happens to be the author of some of their favorite novels.BEWARE A PALE HORSEJust when he thought his lawman days were over, duty calls once again for Grant Coolidge, as a range war erupts around his new home of Lockwood. Initially reluctant to get in the middle of a battle that's not his to fight, the rise of brutal vigilante justice dished out by a group led by a mysterious and menacing man riding a pale horse pushes Grant to pick a side. As friendships grow and a romance blooms, the stakes are high to keep order in the burgeoning railroad town in Wyoming Territory.TROUBLEFamily life seems to be suiting Grant Coolidge just fine. His career as an author of Western dime novels is flourishing, and his wife, Hannah, is due with their first child together any day. But domestic bliss on their ranch outside of Lockwood, Wyoming is disturbed when his young friend, Brady "Trouble" Yates goes missing, and foul play is suspected. Together with his friend, Obadiah "Bushwa" Sparks, Grant sets out to search for Trouble and bring him back to Lockwood . . . dead or alive.

Good, solid western.

Lots of intrigue and excitement. characters are well developed and it’s easy to see how each of them has grown and changed through the series. Does have a happy ending with everyone prepared to move on with their lives.

More Trouble

With Ron Schwab as the author, we know we've got the best just waiting to start the adventure! His use of the Locke law dogs continues a great frontier family. We readers know "the cream always rises to the top"!

Awesome book

This is one of the many wonderful books this author has written. Not one of which I did not thoroughly enjoyed. Probably the best of thousands I have read.
