Join Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and their Sesame Street friends as they share all the wonderful people and things they're thankful for in this special autumn book for kids. A heartfelt reminder that there's so much to be thankful for. There's so much to be thankful for! Where do you start? Everyday gratitude comes from the heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed this colorful picture book. Illustrates the words in these brightly illustrated pictures of Elmo and all his friends demonstrating what they are thankful for. This book is centered around giving thanks at Thanksgiving, it would prepare your kid for when they are asked at dinner to say what they are thankful for. They would have an answer. Although I think it will open their parents eyes too. You can wake up every morning and be mindful of all the positive things you have in your life. This is an excellent book for littles and I highly recommend this this book. Special thanks to the following for allowing me to read and review this unedited copy early. These are my own honest rambling opinions. Thanks to: #NetGalley #SourcebookWonderland
Elmo Gives Thanks is the perfect book to read prior to Thanksgiving. This is a book about being grateful for all that we have. I think teaching children to be thankful and grateful for everything they have is so important, especially in these times of excess and always wanting more. It covers things from being grateful for our bodies that allow us to move, grow and play, good food and cooking together, sunshine, leaves, snow, flowers, adventures, being silly, laughing and so on. There is so much to be thankful for, all the little things, not just the big ones. After we read this one, we took turns saying things we were thankful for. The kids got a little silly at times, but that was okay, because we were grateful for this book making us laugh and have fun. I am definitely going to read this one to them this weekend before our Thanksgiving Dinner. The illustrations are wonderful. The kids enjoy seeing the Sesame Street gang and with large images, colourful and fun, they add much to the book. I recommend this one to all families to read with their children anytime, but especially at Thanksgiving.
Although the title on Goodreads calls this a Thanksgiving book, it does not say that anywhere on the copy we rented from our local library. As a matter of fact, I like that the book is not just autumn centered; on one of the pages, it reads "For sun in the summer and leaves in the fall, winter snow, and spring flowers, we're glad for them all." I appreciate the text in this book, but personally I would prefer to have photos of real children or illustrations of humans instead of the Sesame Street characters. However, for my Elmo child, this book is a good fit. I could see checking this book out again if she is still interested in Sesame Street when we talk about thankfulness next. There is one page in the middle of the book that seems out of place to me; Cookie Monster seems to have burned something in the oven and the text says "Sometimes we make mistakes, some big and some small. We're proud of ourselves and celebrate it all!" Perhaps a more clear explanation that mistakes help us learn and that we are thankful for those lessons would have helped on this page.
Elmo Gives Thanks is a cute Thanksgiving (or anytime) book that shows Elmo and his friends from Sesame Street expressing gratitude for different things in their lives such as family, friends, food, home, etc. The illustrations were adorable and true to the Sesame Street characters. My 2YO loved the page where Elmo and his parents were observed celebrating each of the seasons. I think the book was a little wordy for the target audience, but very sweet. The page/s about school are probably unnecessary since most toddlers aren’t even in school yet. Thank you NetGalley and SourceBooks Kids for the opportunity to read and voluntarily review this title.
We are a Sesame Street household and were so excited to find this book. In this wonderfully illustrated story we follow Elmo as he gives thanks for so many things in his life. As well as his friends from Sesame Street. I love the bright bold illustrations with some of our favorite characters. We are so thankful for many of the same things as Elmo and friends. Like food, music, dance and family and friends. Your little one will love this book too. They can see the things they love just like their favorite friends. We had to add it to our home collection! Add this book to the list of things we are thankful for. 1000 stars
So cute!! I know for a fact that little ones will love this book and learn about gratitude at the same time from their favorite Sesame Street characters. This book doesn't directly define gratitude, but it uses examples of practicing gratitude. These examples are absolutely perfect for kids to begin to understand how to give thanks, and learn how to give thanks for the things in their own lives. Lastly, I loved the variety of characters shown, and the rhyming style allowed the story to flow nicely, perfect for young readers. Bravo!
I think just about every little LOVES Elmo. I know mine does. This was such a cute book full of all the favorite Sesame Street characters. What better way to show a child what all they have to be thankful for than with their favorite characters. Your little will want to read this many times. Great book for a Thanksgiving gift or gathering to be read amongst the children.
I was so happy to see this book. Thanksgiving books can be the holiday book category that falls through the cracks. This one is fun and has Elmo and all his Sesame Street friends. The illustrations are bright and fun. I read it to my daughter, and she enjoyed that the images. It was a bit long for a one-year-old. I would recommend it for ages three and up. It's simple and fun and full of good lessons about giving and being kind.
Thank you, Sourcebooks for the advanced reader's copy.
This is a wonderful book filled with our favorite Sesame Street characters and great messages of thankfulness and gratitude. The illustrations are captivating and the word to picture ratio is done very well.
This is one my toddler has asked for over and over again!

A great book for children and families about thankfulness!
This book would be great for any time of the year, not just Thanksgiving! I really enjoyed the flow and the ideas that were shared about gratitude in each area of life. This was a heartwarming read I would be glad to share with the kids I work with.
I read this with my son (age 3.5) and we both absolutely loved it. He loved to see his favorite characters on the pages. I loved the message of being thankful for anything and everything! We even got to have the sweetest chat about things that we are thankful for. A good book for any time of the year!
Perfect book to read with any child who loves Sesame Street! It has a wonderful message and is beautifully illustrated. Even though it’s titled Elmo Gives Thanks, a lot of sesame characters are a part of the story. This can be a year round read, not just for Fall. My 2 year old loved it!

I love Sesame Street and this book about Elmo and his friends teaches children how to be nice and thankful for what they have. With the easy rhyming kids can follow along as the story is read and there are great illustrations of all the sesame street gang.
Another cute Sesame Street book! My kids love seeing all of their favorite characters and I enjoyed the important lesson of being thankful. And it's not just Elmo, but all the puppets are in there! Highly enjoyed, read more than once, and would be great around Thanksgiving.
