Sweet Tooth (for adults) meets The Last of Us
Survival of the fittest might be the saying but if you don't add smartest and most determined to that saying, you're not going to survive this post-apocalyptic world!
By accident I've picked up book 2 instead of 1, it didn't matter though read well as a standalone although it's a cliffhanger ending and I now need book 3!
Although the story is told through several view points, Archon was definitely my main protagonist and watching his growth was great.
The ivy (think the last of us) was super spooky. The young humanoid animals (think Sweet Tooth) and engaging but definitely not sweet and innocent!
The fight to survive made this a real tense page turner.
Towards the end we have a powerful long fight, so imagine Gunfight at the O.K. Corral... Only change the cowboys for a giant, an old man, and a bunch of very determined humanoid robots and you've pretty much got it.
Very well written and I will be picking up book 3.
