The Ghost of a Chance: A Krewe of Hunters Novella

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Heather Graham comes a new story in her Krewe of Hunters series…

Having run into the bank to take out cash for her son’s school fair, Angela Hawkins Crow is surprised to find herself in the middle of a hostage situation. The hostage-taker is none other than Billy Mendelson, a young man suffering after a violent armed robbery attack at his home.

Angela read about the crime but is mystified by his behavior, even as he hustles her into a vault with several others. Billy was a stellar student and so much more before the events of that fateful day. How can he subject others to such violence?

Thankfully, Angela realizes someone else in the bank might be able to help her bring it all to an end—without any injuries. It’s a ghost of a chance, but one she must cling to if she wishes to save the hostages and the young man so damaged by what has befallen him.

Only a ghost of a chance…

But one she is grateful to have. And one that just might work.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Angela and Jackson are caught up in another crazy mystery. Ghosts and a tunnel used in the civil war for escaped slaves. The Krewe of Hunters are back in this terrific short story filled with history and danger. I just love these 1001 Dark tales that revisit some of my favorite characters.

✨This is my 2nd 1001 Dark Nights novella and I really enjoy these because of the opportunity to read new authors! I also love that they give insight to new to me series to add to my TBR…. Not that my TBR is short. lol.

✨The Krewe has a special set of abilities that help them in their line of work, and for Angela it helps her on a simple bank trip that turns into a whole other situation.

✨The suspense of “who did it” was amazing! I was steadily trying to find clues to point to who the mastermind was and I was definitely wrong!! 😂🙈

✨I read this as a stand alone and did not feel that any details were missing from the novella for me to follow the story and enjoy it!!

✨This is definitely a series I will be adding to my TBR to see more jobs that the Krewe team goes on, and how they receive these jobs!

Awesome

So nice to have an extra book from heather graham. I've been scooping them up as quick as they come out. I really enjoyed this storyline and how it brought in the past history. I had my doubts with billy and kenneth. Crazy there was monsters. Excellent.

This book takes you on a journey through a bank robbery, multiple investigations, twists and turns, and even ghosts! The story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole novella. I didn’t expect the turns this book took from the start, there was no way to predict the storyline!

I loved seeing the healthy communication between the main couple and the high respect for their jobs. Their teamwork throughout the book was amazing. I adored how the plot had secret connecting tunnels and history to them. That is the exact kind of unknown that I love reading about!

If you’re looking for a short mystery packed novella with secrets, danger, murder, and a little bit of romance then this is a great choice!

A fantastic novella in the Krewe of Hunters series as Angela Crowe proves she can’t even go into a bank without landing in the middle of another supernatural mystery. In a fast paced, well written story with a hint of the paranormal, she must prevent a bank robbery and along the way uncover more about America’s darker history and the underground railway with the help of the ghostly civil war hero Captain David Clancy.

If you haven’t read any the Krewe books before then these novellas are a great way to dip your toes into the series and if you’re already a fan, then they’re a fantastic way to catch up with the lives of some old favourites.

I haven’t read any Krewe stories before, and I really liked it! The couple have that steady presence that only comes from lots of history together. The mystery of the third “bad guy” was well written & not too much given away too soon. Though any 🌶️ is mostly off the page, it’s obvious Angela & Jackson are lighting it up in private. I look forward to reading more of this series!

This novella is the latest in the Krewe of Hunters series by Heather Graham. In this story we find Angela caught in a bank robbery on her way to her children’s bake sale. In order to save Angela and the others they are helped by super natural being.
As she is trying to follow the evidence to see who the true culprit is behind the crime, his help is what cracks the case.

The twists and turns keep you on the edge of the page and want you to keep turning.

I was given The Ghost of a Chance as an advanced reader copy, and I am so happy I was given the opportunity to read it. It looks like I will be adding a new series into my TBR. This is a short Novella, but it was enough to suck me in and interested enough to want to jump into the series from the beginning!
If you like crime investigation with a little help from ghosts, you need to grab this Novella!
This book starts off with a bank robbery, and leads to tunnels used in the underground Rail Road.
This was a fun easy read and a great way to jump into this series to get a feel for it.

Our book club LOVED this short novella read by Heather Graham. The Ghost of a Chance is part of the 1001 Dark Nights book series. We have previously read another short novella in the 1001 Dark Nights series and these are some well written short novellas! The tales of these books are told in the style of Scheherazade and Arabian Nights.
The Ghost Of A Chance is about Angela Hawkins Crow and an armed bank robbery that happens at Angela's bank. Angela is part of the FBI and the special unit called the Krewe of Hunters. Her husband, Jackson and her take hold of the hostage situation and no one is hurt or injured at all. And they also get the help of a ghost! We found that part to be paranormally awesome and great to add into the story. Several of the ladies love ghosts in any type of a story;) In fact the ghost helps Jackson solve a murder!
The writing is very well engaging for a book club or any person who is interested in paranormal and thriller reads. And we loved how there was more to the story involving Billy, one of the armed bank robbers and why he did what he does in the book. It is really something that I could honestly relate to as a reader. And a lot of the ladies agreed it is easy to see why Billy does what he does. We were so happy with the ending of finding out who was the third person and also seeing what happened to David. It was an emotional ending! All in all we loved this book and can say we highly recommend this short novella to all!

Even a simple trip to the bank can turn into a dangerous situation for Angela Hawkins Crow, part of the FBI's elite Krewe Of Hunters unit, when armed robbers attempt to holdup the bank she was in. Angela does her best to control the situation inside, while her husband, Jackson, and their team work feverishly outside the bank to bring about a successful resolution. But things aren't always what they seem, and can more be going on they think? With a little ghostly help, they might be able to solve this case and alleviate the danger.

Love the Krewe so hard!! I'm always excited to read a new story in this series. The mystery, the danger, the romance, and the ghosts always pull me into the story, and won't let me go until then end. And these novellas in the 1,001 Dark Nights Tales are a wonderful way to keep up with a series' beloved characters.

Many thanks to the author and publisher for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation

🔎✨Ghost of a Chance by Heather Graham✨🔎

FBI agents Angela and Jackson, a married couple who talk to the dead, are pulled into a tense bank robbery that quickly unravels into something darker. With ghostly help, they uncover hidden tunnels, missing bodies, and a dangerous plot led by an unexpected mastermind. Angela’s faith in Billy, the young gunman, drives them to find the real culprits—and it’s a twisty thrill to the end!

The Ghost of a Chance kept me on the edge of my seat! I loved the supernatural element and how Angela and Jackson’s partnership and belief in Billy led them to the real culprit. If you’re looking for a mystery with a ghostly edge and a thrilling plot that keeps you guessing, this one’s for you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars! Would love to see more of Angela and Jackson solving supernatural cases!

Of course, any of the Krewe books are fantastic and extremely fascinating. I've been reading them from the beginning and plan to continue reading every one that comes out. While I'm not new to novellas in the 1,001 Dark Nights Tales world, I am new to the Krewe of Hunters series.

Angela has gotten herself into quite the pickle. If fast paced, bank robberies, history a bit of suspense and ghosts are your thing you're in for a ride!

A Ghost of A Chance is part of Author Heather Grahams Krewe's Hunters Series. This is a relatively short story. A smidge of suspense and paranormal thrown in. Though brief, it does start without a ton of lead-up. Readers will immediately go in with the understanding that Angela is unwillingly being held up at the bank along with others by Billy, who everyone is surprised by since he doesn’t fit the profile. Her main goal is to keep everyone safe. The pacing is quick, and the ghost’s appearance is unexpected during the plot. But overall, I found the story entertaining.

I love reading about Angela and Jackson. It's so nice to read more about their lives and how happy they are. Now, they have two children and while stopping at the bank Angela gets caught in a robbery. Thanks to a ghost alerting Jackson as to what is going on they manage to end the crisis without losing anyone. However, this goes deeper than anyone thought. Bobby, one of the robbers, is being manipulated into committing crimes. Angela realized who the mastermind is and just in time to stop them from continuing their crimes. Always nice to have a ghost around to relay information.
