My name is Alan Bayles and I was born in Hartlepool, England in 1970, along with my twin brother. We were both raised in Langley Park, Durham, England.
Then in 2004 I met the woman who would change my life forever - Monica. In 2005 I proposed to her, a short time after that I moved over to Northern Ireland to be with her. We were married in June 2007 and are still very happily married. We don’t have any pets or children (maybe that is a good thing, because according to my wife, I’m a still a child at heart!).
Much to my wife's dismay, I'm a huge science fiction and comics fan. Love all forms of sci-fi, from Star Trek, Doctor Who, Blake's 7 etc and I have been a massive Marvel comics fan for over 40 odd years. I am also a Sunderland AFC supporter, even though I am not able to get to the games I still proudly listen to them on the radio.
My fascination with books probably began when I was around 6 or 7 years of age. I blame my mum for this. She was a voracious reader and was a big fan of Catherine Cookson. One day she thought I appeared to enjoy reading comics (not just looking at the pictures), so she encouraged me to read by getting me my first library ticket.
The very first book I loaned from the library was Doctor Who and Death To The Daleks. After that I slowly moved onto reading some of the books my mum had. I have a fond memory of reading Catherine Cookson's The Fifteen Streets and enjoying it.
I love reading fantasy, science fiction, action & adventure, and thrillers. My favourite authors are Stephen King, James Herbert, Clive Cussler, Dean Koontz, Audrey Niffenegger and Neil Gaiman. But out of all the authors that I have mentioned above, the one who inspired me the most was James Herbert. I was around 10 or 11 when I first read James Herbert's The Rats and being so terrified by it, but still ended up reading the next book! His writing was so vivid and engrossing, to this day I still retain certain scenes in my head from that book.
I first started to write when I was 14, when I was given an assignment by my English Teacher to write a prologue for a story. Even though, I enjoyed the experience and wanted to write a book, I didn't think I was good enough and believed a person had to be highly educated to write a book, so I put it on the back burner. But that desire to be writer was always hammering away at my subconscious and it wasn't until I was approaching my 50th birthday, when I decided that I would write that book I had been putting off for so long. I felt if I wouldn't do it now, I may never do it, so I sat to down to write the story I had been putting off for 30 odd years.
And so, in April 2020 my love of fantasy and science fiction inspired me to write my first book – Double Jeopardy – an intense science fiction thriller and the first book in my Mirror Wars series – it just so happened to contain nods to some of my favourite authors, films and TV shows that have ignited my imagination over the years. I also used my “experiences” of being a twin to help me write about evil doppelgangers! I am proud to say that in June 2021, I proudly self-published my first book.
That was then followed up by Oracle’s Vision, the second book in my mirror wars series. It was released on 1st January 2024. Like Double Jeopardy, it is a science fiction thriller with a wee smidge of horror thrown in for good measure. The story follows on from Double Jeopardy and follows the antagonist, Oracle who was revealed towards the end of book one. She is an insane AI who has delusions of ruling over all organic life across the multiverse (hence the title). I have recently released the third book in my Mirror Wars tetrology – Realm Of Fear and I have recently just finished writing the fourth & final book of the series – The Custos Gambit (TBR April 2027).
Best wishes - or as the great Stan Lee used to say…
I listened to the audiobook. I loved the narration and thought this not only conveyed the tension and high steaks but also the dark humour. This book will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions as humanity fights for survival. The narration reminded me a little of Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy... not sure why as this is completely different!
This is the second book in the series so I appreciated that we get flashbacks which helped me piece things together a little better and I thought this really helped to understand the main characters and their motivations.
I love sci-fi and the author did a wonderful job of world building and setting the scene of an AI going rouge. What a great villainous character Oracle is!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. It was well written, detailed and felt well thought out. Sci-fi is not an easy genre to make believable but I think the author was successful in getting me to buy into the story.
With huge thanks to the author and Love Books Tours for providing a copy of the book for me to review.
The second installment in the Mirror wars saga continues with the fast paced conflict, and intricate mix of science, technology and multiple dimensions. It begins by jumping back to the past and giving insights into the AI - Oracle, and sets in motion plans to conquer worlds. It has characters from book 1 alongside new players, and transitions between them with an engaging storyline, where everyone has their own agenda. There is lots of drama and suspense, and it involves concepts of parallel worlds, portals, time travel and dimensions. This is a series that has great twists, cruel and unhinged characters, dire stakes, and leaves your mind blown. It's a powerful reminder of what could happen if sentient technology advanced enough and it became power hungry with it's own deadly mission. Definitely a series to read if you enjoy Terminator and I, Robot.
🤖"You need to understand, your serve me now and I will punish insolent behaviour severely" 🤖"This is what happens if you resist"
Oh my days this was incredible! Fast paced and action packed, I went on such an emotional rollercoaster with this book
We are back with the second installment in the Mirror Wars. We get a little look back to see where Oracle originated from and it also gives us a little insight into her dark and demented ways.
We once again the back and forth between Terra and Earth. This is useful as we get real insightful information about characters from Book one and where they are as well as introductions to a whole new bunch of players. Now mark my words every character in this Trilogy plays a vital role and you need to keep your head on to make the right connections and trust me .... my mind is blown.
@albay3037 is ruthless in this book and I was thrown of the track a few times and had to have a heart breaking sob every now and again... Be totally prepared for anything.... nothing is off the table and when you think you know you bloody don't. Well played Mr Bayles.
I had to finish this last night and was up till two in the morning but it was so worth it! I am like a child in candy store eagerly grabbing book three to find out where this all ends!
This will be amazing for sci fi fans. The plot is top shelf - there is an unhinged AI, a multiverse, crazy synthetic animals (?!?! ) and an multiverse with doppelgängers ..... I mean what more can you ask for .... the fight for control is on ... which side are you on?
Oracle’s Vision by Alan Bayles. Book 2 of mirror wars. Narrator Gill Mills Listening Length 18 hours and 54 minutes. I did enjoy this book. It picks up where book 1 finished. I listened to the audiobook. I did love the narrator. Gripping and twisty. I definitely didn't expect that to happen. I did like Di Dave Barnes and his team. I am enjoying this series. It's like a mini series in my head. I do like the oracle. She amazes me. I loved the story and plot. There was nothing in this book that I didn't like. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
Alan Bayles, author of Double Jeopardy, is back with his second installment in the Mirror Wars series!
Get excited people, because Oracle’s Vision is going to take you on a rollercoaster of a ride.
Before we dive into this book, let’s talk about the cover! OMG! This book’s cover is absolutely eye-catching! The sight of Oracle holding Earth and just CRUSHING it! The cover itself helps to set the tone for this novel. The author is letting readers know from the beginning what the plan is – Oracle is looking to conquer the Earth and crush all who dare to defy them. It’s a great teaser for what’s to come for sure!
Oracle’s Vision may have a slow start, but don’t let that fool you! This book’s slow start is just the author setting the stage to hold you captive before long and leave you with this question – “When is book three coming?” LOL! Are you, ready?
When you start reading this book the hope and expectation is going to be that Oracle’s Vision picks up where Double Jeopardy ended. Hate to disappoint you, but that’s not how things are going to go. Don’t get too disappointed though! The author starts Oracle’s Vision out in a similar fashion to how he began Double Jeopardy. Bayles takes readers to the past once again. We get a glimpse behind the scenes as the past is laid bare and we are allowed to see how the overall situation began to build. Piece by piece the author lays down the foundation of Oracle’s past so that we can be led forward into the future.
From the very beginning, a new character is going to be introduced. This individual means well, but as the saying goes – “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” It doesn’t take long for Oracle to take this character’s good intentions and flip them around to attack them with it. This powerful character is dealt a blow by Oracle, that allows her to gain a foothold in Earth Prime. Of course, humans had a helping hand in it as well, but this is where the chaos begins to unfold.
The beginning chapters of this book are truly intriguing as events begin to unfold that yield Oracle’s crossing over into a new world. With their stolen “infusion” of power, they have found the means to answer a pulse of energy that draws them in. This establishes their foothold in Terra. The first act of this book gives you the establishment of a variety of characters who you will only see in this part of the book. However it will beg the question – will a particular character make a reappearance at a later time? However, the author’s intent becomes cemented as he connects the past to the present in this series. You are going to get characters from Terra meeting characters from Earth, but different periods. Just take care that it doesn’t blow your mind. LOL!
After “Act One” plays out the story shifts in time and jumps forward to more familiar characters leaving you with questions and a strong desire for answers. Answers that you will have to wait to get, but it will be worth it.
Welcome back, Colonel Barnes and DI Barnes. So nice to see you both again. Colonel Barnes may have been captured, but he is no less dangerous. This conniving character is as sneaky as ever, and author Bayles shows readers that Colonel Barnes knows how to play people like a fiddle. Colonel Barnes has his own agenda, but when things take a turn he offers his help. Can he be trusted? You’re going to get the sense that he’s up to no good (which is always), but what path will he truly choose to put his life on? Prepare for some jaw-dropping twists ahead, because Bayles brought it with this book.
One thing that readers are going to appreciate about this book is that we’re going to get some backstory concerning Colonel David Barnes. Barnes is a real piece of work. The author is going to show readers that Barnes didn’t wake up one day and decide that he was going to be “overly” ambitious. No, this character has been like this from the beginning. When you read the things that he was willing to do for his own family…it is both heart-breaking and jaw-dropping at the same time.
Author Bayles brings, once again, a wide cast of characters to Oracle’s Vision. You won’t be settled with one character for long before the story transitions to another. This will be what really keeps readers engaged in the book. You just never know who the story is going to transition to. Sometimes there will be one that you’ll hope the author follows so that you can find out what happens next. In these rare scenarios, you’ll be rewarded, as the author does exactly that since the storyline will be headed in a particular direction.
While the story has a slow-ish beginning, this book can be described as a tsunami. You will feel or sense the initial quake, the rumblings that warn of a shift coming. You’ll probably shake it off, and think that it’s nothing. But the deeper you go, that’s when you’ll start noticing other signs. The “water” receding from the shoreline, but when you think to look again that’s when the wall of water is going to be crashing down on you.
Oracle’s Vision is absolutely going to sweep you away. When the chaos hits…it HITS! Oracle is more prominent in this book and that really takes Oracle’s Vision up a notch from Double Jeopardy. You’re going to be bombarded with jaw-dropping moments one after another. Don’t worry, the author will give you a break for some time, eventually. LOL! But this book is just…wow!
Author Bayles truly showcases the ruthlessness of Oracle throughout this book. From their using techno-parasites to take over unsuspecting victims, to the depths of their cruelty and depravity when they wipe out an entire nation/country! When we tell you that Oracle is unhinged, we mean exactly that. There is nothing that Oracle is not willing to do to solidify their hold on the power that they are seeking. Oracle is that character that you are going to love to hate the whole way through.
This book is a divinely orchestrated mixture of horror, drama, and futuristic science fiction. It is perfectly blended together to evoke emotional reactions to the storyline that will keep you coming back for more. From jaw-dropping revelations to scenes that will literally bring tears to your eyes and have you vowing revenge on behalf of the fallen. Know this – in this book? No one and no THING is safe.
Now, don’t go thinking that this book is all “darkness”, “chaos”, and “cruelty.” There are some lighter moments sprinkled throughout the book. The author maintains some levity to keep the book from being a complete fest of epic darkness. The characters (most of them anyway) are human beings, so we get a touch of humor here and there. It’s a nice way to break up the heaviness of the overall storyline since so much destruction is taking place.
Oracle’s Vision is going to end on a cliffhanger. It’s not a major one, but it will have you wondering what is going to happen next. Of course, the final chapters are full of devastation, heartbreak, and a surprise twist that you won’t see coming. While the ending doesn’t have that “chilling factor” that book one did, it will still do the job of teasing readers to eagerly anticipate the coming of book three in the future.
This book is an epically delicious addition to the Mirror Wars series and one that readers are not going to want to miss out on. Readers who enjoy science fiction novels packed with intense drama, surprises and twists around every corner, and a nice amount of horror – this book is for you! For those who have read Double Jeopardy and enjoyed it, we encourage you to grab this book and find out what happens next. This is not a standalone novel, so if you haven’t read Double Jeopardy, grab it now! What are you waiting for?!
Pros: Tons of twists and surprises Engaging storyline Fantastic variety of characters Drama filled Page-turner
Cons: None of merit
Lesson of the story: The shadows are moving, and the war… it’s here.
Here is my review for Oracle’s Vision by Alan Bayles
This was a great book to read. The fantasy and crime theme continues so well and is greatly combined that sometimes it’s hard to see where the path’s cross. The book starts where we are on the multiverse and they are trying to get a portal to work but it’s been taking some time and the General is most unhappy at the amount of time that has been given to the project so far. The Doctor leading the project asks for a little bit more time as she feels that she is close and then there is something happening at the portal, she pushes it up to the max of one hundred per cent of its power, there is a lightning flash and they are knocked out temporarily. When they come round, there is a group of six strangers in the portal room with them, where did they come from if not through the portal? Then the questions start. This is an engaging read which kept me hooked to the book until the end. It’s a lot more involved then the first book, with Oracle taking a stand in this book and being more mischievous and controlling. The author has a great imagination to think up a series like this and hopefully it will continue after this book as I’m enjoying the concept very much. I like DI Dave Barnes and his team and their approach to the problem they have to solve as it’s not an easy task. Overall, it’s a terrific book with great characters and a fantastic storyline.
Blurb :
The battle for the fate of Earth has only begun as Detective Inspector Dave Barnes and his team must fight against a malevolent AI hell-bent on dominating multiple worlds.
With Terra, a counter-Earth in a parallel dimension, under its control, the tyrannical AI known as Oracle continues her relentless march across the multiverse‚ and now she holds Earth Prime in her sights.
While Dave Barnes and members of The Castle battle to stop the dangerous AI from succeeding in her invasion, all is not lost on Terra where a group of resistance fighters are marshalling their forces to free those who have been assimilated as mindless foot soldiers.
With conflict waging on both worlds, and Oracle tightening her grip, hope comes from an unlikely source when the duplicitous Colonel David Barnes offers information that could prove vital. But can this master of deception be trusted to aid in the fight for two worlds?
As Oracle becomes increasingly unhinged, and with the fate of humanity at stake, it becomes clear to those who resist that the AI will stop at nothing to rule the multiverse. In a desperate struggle to survive, can those on opposite sides unite in a mission to save two worlds? And, with the stakes so high, will all who fight live to see freedom from Oracle's reign of terror?
I expected this book to pick up where Book 1 left off, and it did, eventually. But it started in the past and jumped around in time and interdimensional space (which it did last time because of traveling between different Earths). So, it could be a little confusing to keep up with when and where I was. Also, I mentioned last time that, like many science fiction books, this one does suffer a little from having too many characters. Sci-Fi/fantasy always seems to need way more characters than other genres. But as I'm going through, none of them seem superfluous, so it's only a complaint that my brain has limits!
Otherwise, the world (worlds?) that the author has built is so complex and wonderful. Well, wonderful might not be the best word, but well built. I didn't feel like it was all dumped on me at once, but it was solidly described and built throughout the first book and this one. The characters had time to grow, except for when they clearly weren't meant to - such as in certain cases where storylines were rushed but were revealed to be manipulated by others later. And that is extra brilliant writing! Doing things that seem incongruous with the story but then actually using them to build storylines is fantastic!
I've really enjoyed this series. The wild intergalactic battle is spearheaded by a cyber entity, though it's a little unclear who knows what and when. So many layers to everything. And who are the good guys? It's something you have to decide for yourself.
While very different from the first one, this second installment is still a fast-paced, sci-fi, psychological, adventure thriller. It’s got a little something for everyone: romance, action, mystery, futuristic technology, and more. If that sounds good, pick this one up!

" [...] Nobody can find out the truth about me. I will sacrifice everybody if it means keeping my secret. [...]"
Wow! Author Alan Bayles has a rich imagination. He created an amazing saga, "Mirror Wars", which is worth reading.
Today I come to you with a review of the second part of this saga, which is called "Oracle's Vision". I met a lot of characters here, including:
- Milles Newton - the general's adjutant, who was supposedly promoted, but in reality was exiled for life. Why?
- General Thaddeus. It is worth knowing his methods.
- Inspector - Dave Barnes - I liked this character. I would not like to experience what he experienced.
- Oracle - artificial intelligence. Can it be completely trusted? And what if it starts working against us? See what too much trust in artificial intelligence can lead to, using this AI as an example.
- Sunitra Sinchettra was an investigative journalist and a presenter for the BBC New Channel. Will she join the resistance? It's worth getting to know her.
Of course, you will meet more characters worthy of your attention. The author did a great job in this regard.
The plot is well-thought-out. The action is fast-paced and fortunately never slows down. The ending of the book is so emotional that it brought me to tears. I didn't expect that when I picked up this novel, I would receive such a moving story.
I would love to learn about the further fate of the characters appearing in this book.
If, like me, you like reading books from the Science Fiction genre, you must read "Oracle's Vision".
The cover of this book is perfect, mysterious, eye-catching and very Science Fiction-issue.
Ps. Be careful of drones spying on civilians, because they are very dangerous.
I'm sure that you all know by now, that sci-fi novels are really not my cup of tea at all.
However, I do keep picking them up to stretch my reading and generally discover that I really enjoy reading them.
This book was almost there for me - but halfway through, I realised that this is actually the second book in the mirror wars saga .....but only the first one that I've read!
I was a little confused at the start (as per, with this genre) and now I'm not sure whether that was the writing, topic or just the fact that I'd come into this midway through the saga!
However, we do start with a kind of prequel or flashback that did fill in some of the character development that I probably missed in the first book.
There was definitely a lot to get my head round here, but I think that I was able to follow the storyline fairly well and keep track of those who were good and bad.
Whilst travelling the multiverse, we meet a lot of different characters and encounter doppelgangers and "possessed" others, which did take me a while to get to grips with - but I found that this made for an exciting read and kept me on my toes trying to work out whether these characters were who they actually said they were.
The writing in this was absolutely stunning - I may not be the perfect target audience, but I can certainly see just how much has gone into this book.
The world building was amazing, the character development worked so well - especially across dimensions - and the atmosphere and tension built up had me on the edge of my seat!
This is certainly a chunky read - at almost 500 pages - or almost 19 hours of listening time - it's definitely an investment.
But if this is a genre you enjoy, then you won't be disappointed at all!
‘Orcale’s Vision’ is a blistering follow-up to ‘Double Jeopardy’ and it is packed full of action, twists and turns and gasp-out-loud moments! This is the second book in the series and normally I would say all books are able to be read as a standalone but in this case I would recommend reading the first book to gain the maximum enjoyment of reading this one. If it helps it is a brilliant read and this one is just the same.
Just like the first book, this one opens up in the past and we learn more of Oracle’s history and how she came to be in the multiverse. To be honest I was less interested in this section as I wanted to know what had happened to our characters in the present but once we met up with them I was engrossed as the action was relentless! All of our characters from ‘The Castle’ are being tested to the end of their mettle, having to deal with trauma and the constant fight to keep Oracle at bay. Relationships, both professional and personal are being torn apart by the pressure and events that take place. There are losses on our side and I may have shed a tear when they occurred.
Oracle is becoming interesting to me now. Not that I didn't resonate with her as a despot ruler but now we are entering a new era that is surprising even herself - is she experiencing human emotions? This is always been a huge debate in AI discussions - both academically and fictionally and I can't wait to see where this leads! I am already desperate to read book three, especially after that epilogue.
Coming in at just a couple of minutes under nineteen hours, this is quite a hefty read or I should say listen, but it’s so worth the investment of time. It’s no secret that I’m not an audiobook lover. My brain doesn’t want to keep track, it wanders and strays, but actually in this instance it stayed fully focused. The world building is immense. There are a vast number of characters to keep track of but they all have their place and purpose. The narration was beautifully paced and engaging. I felt the voice complemented the story so well. The telling is full of twists and turns it’s frenetic and complex but all consuming and very enjoyable. This is the second book in the series and I would suggest devouring the first one before you start this, and I recommend you do it soon because you’re missing out on a great story
This is Book 2 of the Mirror Wars Series, and the story continues...
First up, I honestly think reading this series in order would be the best option, so if you haven't already read Book 1 - definitely go and check it out.
As always, at the start of the book, Alan sets the scene and the pace, though over the course of the book, the pace increases.
In this book, we see the worlds having to come together for their freedom, and it is just one rollercoaster ride!
I love how Alan creates and develops his characters with too many favourites to talk about in this review, and I also love the twists and turns as he guides you through his thrilling story.
Once again, we are fascinated by the story and left with many questions!
Oracle's Vision is quite the mix of genres. It's brilliantly heavy on the Sci-fi ( one of my favourite genres ), with a great crime, thriller mystery twist.
Following the escapades of book 1 ( Double Jeopardy ), we're back with the intrepid Detective Inspector David Barnes, as he and his team are again on the case, as the malicious, vicious AI , known as Oracle, has a parallel Earth in a parallel dimension under it's full, managing control and now has it's eye fixed on Earth. But can the inspector and Co stop Oracle's devastating march across the dimensions? Be sure to pick your copy up to find out.
So all in all, an exciting, fast paced tale that's sure to keep you on your toes, with a great cast of characters that are believable and feel real.
I was so thrilled to be part of this next book in the series tour I loved the first book and this book was no exception at all !!! I mean I loved how this book picked up where the last one left off and how much action this book had. I also really enjoyed how many different things were in this book like multi dimensional sci fi but also technology ok the tech isn't my favorite part but I love the rest and I was definitely invested in this book. I mean there isn't anything I didn't like well other than the tech part. There was so much drama and the characters were just so on point some where even cruel but it fit the story perfectly!!! I can't wait for more !!
Oracle’s Vision is a science fiction novel and the second in the series. I had not read the first book but did not find that a hinderance to listening to the second.
The main topic of the book is AI and in particular an evil AI looking to take over called Oracle - very relevant as we move into an era of more AI.
I found the narration really good, I loved all the characters different accents and that meant it was easy to distinguish between them as there are quite a few characters to get your head around.
‘Oracle’s Vision’ is the second book in the Mirror Wars series and it is action packed with some great twists that I didn't see coming. I really like the use of parallel worlds and time travel. This book starts off slowly but it’s a compelling read and it soon draws you in. It’s a great mix of fantasy, science fiction and crime thriller. I have no idea what will happen next in book three but I can’t wait to find out.
I picked this up straight after finishing Double Jeopardy and unfortunately my reading time dropped drastically but the last few days I have put some classical chill music on in the background and sat to read (my back hates me for it) and theb i was hooked on this book. I thought the first book was action packed until i read this one, this one was crazy. I spent days in work thinking i really need to read, even going in early some days to read before we started for the day😂. All i can say is I need the next one, it better not be far away. Highly highly recommend this book if ypu like thriller, action, supernatural or just books in general as this has it all.
Move over Skynet. Is this the way our world will end?
We travel back to Dave and the team. The Oracle has made it to our planet. And she is reaving havoc. As paranoid as ever, the team struggle to separate friend from foe at the Castle while fighting their last stand.
Although this sequel is not as nailbiting as the first, it still stirs riiiiiight outside my periphery, I know things are not right. I got sucked right back into the new world of the Oracle. Wait! Did my reflection move when I passed my bathroom mirror? I am walking around in Castle thinking this is the last safe place… Is it, though? Sure, we know what the synthioids are, we know to crush every mirror, and still, we have no clue what Oracle will do next! Not to mention where. The world is not THAT small. 😉
As we get to know Oracle better, well.. know and know.. we get to look back at some of her experiences before we met her in book one, and perhaps we get to know her a little better. Do not get me wrong, she is as scary an entity as any Halloween book villain you might meet this season. Still, I think I look at her a little differently. Not kinder, not more forgiving, I think I might just understand her a little more than just the force I knew her as after reading the first book in the series.
As the leaders of big powers of the world crumble under Oracle’s attacks, the noose around the neck of humanity gets tighter and tighter. Can we fight our way out of Oracle’s vision?
To me, the most beautiful paragraphs in this book, which most seem without hope, if the ones about the “gestalt”. You will know when you get there. 🩵
Please, do keep writing, Alan. I am captivated by this series.😊
Amazing! I absolutely love the premise of this series and the second installment picks up right after the first book and keeps rolling full steam ahead. There were twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and I was fascinated to see how the antagonist Oracle crashed into the world and took control. We delve deeper into each side of the conflict and as we learn more about the heroes we already know, we are introduced to new players that have the potential to become heavy hitters in their own right. I will say there are a few time where I feel like the character’s emotions can be a little rushed to their conclusions (moments where they snap at others and then immediately seem to resolve and reconcile without taking time to sit on it and realize where they were wrong, just instantly knowing they were emotional and then moving past). It’s not enough to ruin my enjoyment, but it’s sometimes like how did they jump through the emotional and mental hoops that fast and how do I learn it? Haha. That aside, there are deep emotional moments and times where we are forced to part with characters that have gained some emotional attachment and I think the author captures the human spirit of when being faced against something truly horrific, we have a tendency to stand out ground and not know when to back down. The ending is amazing, but at the same time such a HUGE cliffhanger that I am going to be anxiously awaiting the next book and hope with everything I am that the first chapters of it pick up right where we left off because I am dying to know just what will happen next.
Book two picks up very much where the first book (Double Jeopardy) ended. After an intriguing look back at the main villain started her journey on quest for ultimate power, we see glimpses for our world falling into her grip. We see pieces falling into place around the world as plans are made to try and resist.
Book two continues to not hold back on surprises, and got to admit I was surprised at the fate of one individual , who I was expecting to be a major player in book two.
Book two starts off slow at first but the author is just winding up to deliver a series of blow, after blow, after blow as he keeps the reader on their toes and intrigued at just who and what is going to be still around by the end of this book.
I felt a strong connection to many of the characters introduced in book one, and at times it was hard to read their pain as they started to feel the pressure of their actions…. Also, and this is a personal note… I really really dislike Colonel Barnes! Which I suppose makes his such a good character beautifully written and described by the author.
One thing that really does stand out…. Just how nuts Oracle is… User-friendly she definitely isn’t!
Looking forward to see how it all ends when book three is eventually released.
