Martin Handford, the man behind the mind-boggling Waldo books, began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. The turning point came when he was asked to create a book showcasing his impressive talent, and the character Waldo was born—originally to provide a link between each scene. "I can't tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," Martin Handford says. "I'd like to inspire children to open their minds to explore subjects more, to be aware of what's going on around them. I'd like them to see wonder in places that may not have occurred to them." Martin Handford lives in England.
I loved reading this Where’s Waldo book! It brought back memories of searching for Waldo in the detailed illustrations when I was a kid.
In this book, there are magical settings, including a beach full of dragons, a museum where the artifacts come to life, and a movie set.
Where’s Waldo? The Mighty Magical Mix Up is a fun book for kids and adults!

I have been reading all the Where’s Wally book in the series. I highly recommend them to children to keep them occupied during the long travel journeys, or have a sleep over and enjoy this Where’s Wally book with friends or for family fun. Boys and girls will love the bright colourful pages, with all sort’s hidden in the pictures that can be found. The searches includes, A SANDY SPECTACLE with dragons. SPACE AGE MEETS STONE AGE with a mixture of Stone Age and aliens, My favourite search was A SPELL IN THE LIBRARY. At the back of the book there’s more The Mighty Magical Mix-Up Checklists, Before the magnificent mayhem is over, children can have another look through the scenes and search for all the curious things in the checklist that have been selected, to find.
I’m getting to the point where I feel like Wally is a cash cow that just keeps getting milked.
How many times can we see this guy get lost before it gets boring? This many times, I guess, because I’m now completely over Where’s Wally and have literally no interest in helping him be found.
Seen one? You truly have seen them all. This one tries to make it more exciting by mixing two scenarios together that wouldn’t ordinarily make sense to try and make it funnier, like a castle made of cake for example, but honestly unless this is the one and only Wally book in your collection I really wouldn’t bother.
