Author’s Note: When I asked which couples you missed seeing, I received a lot of requests to revisit the early Psy-Changeling couples, so I thought I’d go back to where it all began, to an alpha panther and an empath whose mating changed the course of Psy-Changeling history. Timeline-wise, this fits in after Alpha Night.
I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
In chronological line of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series, Mate falls after #4 Alpha Night, but it harks back to the very first couple in the original series, Lucas and Sascha.
Full of the warm of mate love and the delight of a couple living their happily ever after with a three year old. This was whimsical, sexy, and sweet all in one. Lucas' love for his mate and child just pour off the page in this gentle slice of life vignette.
This is a cute little snippet that hails back to the start of the series with Lucas and Sascha. It's nice to see how devoted these pairs remain even as the series continues to move forward and events change. Naya is another little spot of joy and continues to grow as well. It's nice to see things circle back to the original heart of the pack once in awhile.

A short story, 19.6 in the Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series (4.6 in the Psy-Changeling Trinity) and revolving around three races in this alternate reality. The focus is on Lucas and Sascha, and their young daughter, Naya.
If you're interested, there is a chronological listing of the Psy-Changeling books on my website.
"Mate" is a free short story offered on Singh's newsletter.
My Take This was sooo sweet! It’s third person protagonist point-of-view from Lucas’ perspective as he reflects (and acts) on how much he loves his mate and his daughter.
Singh also reflects on Sascha's past, her unhappy childhood and how it has affected her relationship with her daughter. I can certainly understand how she feels.
As for Naya, oh . . . she's such a happy little girl with loving parents.
It’ll make your heart melt . . .
The Story A morning wake-up grants Lucas the opportunity to watch his mate sleep, reflecting on how much he loves her.
The Characters Lucas, a panther, is the alpha of the Dark River cats in the San Francisco-Bay Area. Sascha is his Psy mate, an empath. Naya is their two-year-old daughter who loves to shift.
I dearly miss our original Psy-Changeling couples as that's where my immense love for this series started, so this was as nostalgic as it was sweet and incredibly heartwarming. Lucas and Sascha will always hold a special place in my heart!
Always love more and more stories of characters I've grown with and love deeply! I love seeing how they've grown since the last time we spent time together and how they're becoming a family! So beautiful!
Super cute snippet of life with Sascha, Lucas and baby Naya!
It's only two very short scenes that are from Lucas' POV where we get an insight to how obsessed he is with his mate and the love he has for his baby. So as I said, CUTE!
Oh my heart. I love Lucas & Sascha, the couple that started it all in the Psy-Changeling series. Such a sweet story of private family time between Lucas, Sascha and their little Naya. Thank you Nalini Singh for giving us this glimpse into their lives.
This one was so cute! It was great to get a catch up story, to see Lucas and Sasha living happy and how they are parenting Naya with lots of love, safety and fun in her life.
As always with a snippet that involves Naya, this was utterly adorable! I love seeing cub kids. They're just too cute and cuddly. I can't believe Naya is already two!
