A good selection of cases which range from the wacky to the scientific. There's a nice tie in to the overarching narrative that manages to bind these isolated crimes into one, flowing story. Appearances from some underutilised favourites such as Makoto are very welcome and instantly make whatever they're involved in more memorable. Overall, it's a fun read that won't disappoint fans.

Today is a sad day. I’ve finally caught up to the most recent release and must wait until April for the next one. At least we had a resolution to the case in this volume; so I didn’t have to wait to find out if I was right or not. Lol

Case Closed Vol. 81 moves in a slightly different direction compared to other volumes because it combines character moments with mysteries that range from more emotional to awkward. This book doesn’t contain much of the Black Organization plot but it still gives readers interesting character interactions and cases that make you think without feeling repetitive once again.
One of the strongest aspects of this volume is how it handles returning characters like Akai, Jodie, Bourbon and Vermouth. Rather than advancing the story forward, Aoyama looks backward and gives information on earlier events. This choice may frustrate readers waiting for big movement in the main plot, but it works on a character level. Bourbon in particular comes across as more layered and added context makes his past actions feel less like a mystery and more calculated.
The standalone cases in this volume are not too original but that’s a strength. Settings like a bar or bowling alley are not new for the series, but the tension comes from the discomfort rather than the murder setups. These cases feel closer to real life situations where things turn for the worst because of poor decisions, jealousy, or fear of exposure.
That said, the volume can feel unsatisfying at times. None of the mysteries stood out like previous volumes. However, the consistent atmosphere and focus on character dynamics work to tie everything together for future volumes.
Ultimately, Case Closed Vol. 81 is a volume aimed at longtime readers and people who randomly pick up this book will not know what’s going on in some of the chapters (Obviously). Although this volume is nothing special, it adds to the overall plot and buildup. For readers who appreciate character depth and quieter mysteries, this volume is a worthwhile read.

The conclusion of the last case, where Jodi discovers the truth about the appearance of Akai, who is reported as dead. Next, the case where Mori is hired by a bartender to discover and explain a strange sound, which leads him (and Conan) to a murder! Next, Sera is asked to follow around someone's boyfriend to find out if he is fooling around with his ex, only to find her lying dead in a shower! Finally, Sonoko's boyfriend makes a reappearance and his Jeet Kune Do gord up against Sera's Karate! But of course, they stumble upon a mystery where someone is found drowned alone in a bathroom, but how did he drown?

As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

#1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

ada kelanjutan cerita kurobee, si pencopet yang membuat Jodie teringat Suichi Akai (damn, aku juga penasaran sama nasibnya Akai). Bu Jodie bertemu dengan orang yang pernah sama-sama disekap di sebuah bank, dan ternyata doong orang-orang tersebut adalah Vermouth dan Bourbon (jeng jeeeng, biasalah ya, idupnya Vermouth kan nyamar mulu. si Bourbon itu juga ikut-ikut). ohya, di sini senjata yang dipakai si pembunuh juga unpredictable (ya akuh kapan bisa predict sesuatu di conan, hah?), maksudnya asik gitu dari benda sekecil se(olah-olah) gak berarti gitu tapi bisa jadi senjata pembunuh, dan motif si pembunuh... duh.
lantas cerita bergulir ke sebuah bar di mana si bartender meminta tolong pada Mouri karena ia merasa mendengar suara letupan (seperti bunyi yang terdengar waktu botol sampanye dibuka), namun saat itu tidak ada yang memesan sampanye. kemudian datang empat tamu yang merupakan rekan kerja dan salah satu dari mereka ditemukan mati di tempat duduk mereka berkumpul. yang menarik dari kasus ini adalah penggunaan roll film yang diisi dengan air dan garam. eksperimen macam ini pernah aku lakuin juga, malah buat mainan bareng bocah-bocah, eh di komik ini dibahas. terus lucu juga pas bagian mouri mulai sadar kalau dirinya itu suka aneh(iya, jurus kogoro tidurnya itu :D), tapi tetep aja doong dia narsis.
ada juga kasus penyelidikan perselingkuhan yang dibawa oleh Sera. nah, si Sera ini juga bikin tambah rame lah. dia adiknya Akai ya? yang seru di sini saat analisis Sera beradu dengan analisis Sinichi. Si Sera sibuk telponan sama kakaknya,sementara Ran telponan sama Sinichi (ya pastinya si Conan yang ngisi suaranya) untuk mengungkap kasus. Di kasus ini bener-bener ya jadi detektif mesti pay attention to every detail. ya masa bukti pembunuhannya ada di... mata. iya, gitu deh dari soft lens si pembunuh yang jatuh, nah si korban menyimpannya di matanya sebelum meninggal. pinter juga ya, korbannya? ohya sebel juga sama pelakunya yang play to the boy. untung dia udah kena jotos juga sama polisi. rasakeeen!
kasus terakhir tentang pembunuhan guru olahraga yang mabuk berat. di sini masih ada Sera yang bertemu dengan Makoto (pacarnya Sonoko). seperti biasa, awalnya Makoto mengira kalau Sera itu pria, jadi di awal bertemu mereka sempat adu jurus gitu (jet kune ya namanya). trik pembunuhan kali ini unik karena bertempat di toilet di tengah hari yang hujan dan air yang menggenang, bisa gitu bikin korbannya tenggelam (guru kimia mungkin bisa bantu jelasin *hiyaa*). yah, begitulah. dan motif pembunuhannya pun karena persahabatan dan juga tentang cinta. haaaah.
yang jadi catatan dan mengusik saya di conan kali ini adalah: itu Jodie gak tau kan ya kalau Ai itu adik mantannya Akai? gak kebayang deh gimana caranya Conan ngejaga perasaan mereka berdua. eh tapi kan Conan cowok, gak peka. tapi gak tau kenapa rasanya di sini Conan ngertiin banget perasaannya bu Jodie dan Ai. buat cerita selanjutnya... banyakin organisasi berbaju hitam. dan conan mau sampai nomor berapakah? ratusan?
catatan tambahan: harga Conan 20.000. untung dapet yang diskon 20% jadinya 16.000 ;)

CHERRY BLOSSOM BETRAYAL AND THE PICKPOCKET’S DEMISE
While viewing cherry blossoms with the Detective Boys, Conan meets with Jodie to reveal that Scar Akai was actually Bourbon in disguise, testing the FBI’s reaction to confirm Akai’s death. Bourbon, now known as Tooru Amuro, works at Poirot Café under the detective agency. Their meeting is interrupted by a man connected to a past bank robbery, who claims to have seen Scar Akai recently. The mystery deepens when Professor Agasa reports witnessing a murder at the shrine grounds. Conan discovers the victim is Kurobee, a notorious pickpocket who leaves black fem-yens as a mocking signature. Clues from a GPS and hidden cash lead Conan to conclude that Kurobee was killed by one of her past victims seeking revenge.
POISONED AT THE BLUE PARROT
Kogoro is hired to investigate strange noises at the Blue Parrot bar. Conan joins him, hinting that Ran is upset with Kogoro for being absent. The routine investigation turns deadly when an office worker collapses and dies after being poisoned. With three employees present and a closed environment, Conan must piece together the method and motive behind the lethal attack.
ADULTERY, DECEPTION, AND A DEADLY ENCOUNTER
While waiting for Eri, Conan and Ran meet Sera, who is investigating a potential adultery case. Sera asks Conan and Ran to approach the couple under the guise of needing a meal. The man’s disinterest in Ran raises suspicion, but he soon asks Ran to accompany his girlfriend to check on his ex-girlfriend. Finding the apartment locked, Ran helps open the door and begins searching. She eventually finds the woman unconscious on the bathroom floor—only to collapse on top of her in a chilling turn of events.
BOWLING, A BRAWL, AND A SUSPICIOUS DROWNING
A rainy day leads Ran, Sonoko, Sera, and Conan to a bowling alley, where Makoto mistakes Sera for a romantic rival and challenges her to a fight. The misunderstanding is resolved, but trouble arises when a drunk teacher goes missing after being escorted to his car by a coworker. The teacher is later found drowned in a portable toilet, and Makoto becomes the prime suspect due to his strength and presence in the parking lot during the time of death. Conan must unravel the complex web of alibis and motives to clear Makoto's name and expose the real killer.

Kalau pergi ke toko buku dan menemukan Conan volume selanjutnya sudah terbit itu .... senengnya luar biasa :D
Akhirnya bisa mengetahui siapa pembunuh si pencopet. Alat pembunuhnya...errr...tidak biasa. Niat banget itu si pembunuh mau balas dendam sama si pencopet. Ending kasus ini diakhiri dengan sedikit petunjuk mengenai aktivitas FBI dan organisasi baju hitam yang bikin penasaran.
Kasus kemudian beralih ke salah satu bar dimana salah satu bartendernya adalah penggemar detektif Mouri. Dia meminta bantuan detektif Mouri untuk menyelidiki bunyi seperti orang membuka tutup sampanye, padahal tidak ada pelanggan yang membuka tutup sampanye. Hmmm...bunyi apakah itu?
Di kasus ini gaya penceritaannya dari sudut pandang detektof Mouri yang sok keren itu. Bikin ngakak deh. Tapi endingnya lagi-lagi ada sangkut pautnya dengan aktivitas organisasi. Hedeh, bikin penasaran saja.
Kasus berikutnya tentang Sera yang menjadi detektif untuk menyelidiki perselingkuhan. Tapi seperti biasa, kasusnya berubah menjadi pembunuhan. Dan disini lagi-lagi endingnya bikin penasaran. Tentang siapa sebenarnya Sera ini dan siapa kakak yang selalu dia sebut.
Terakhir kasus dengan senjata pembunuh yang lebih tidak biasa lagi. Berhubungan dengan percobaan kimia tentang air dan udara. Siapa sangka ternyata percobaan kimia tanpa senyawa berbahaya itu bisa menjadi alat membunuh. Di sini juga ada Sera dan kakaknya yang misterius itu. Lucunya dikasus ini Sera bertemu dengan Makoto. Pasti dong terjadi adegan pertarungan antara jeet kune dengan karate. Kereeeen....
Dan seperti biasa, akan selalu 5 dari 5 bintang untuk Conan. It was amazing :D

This volume picks right up where volume 80 left off. If it has been sometime, I suggest rereading the last 20 pages of volume 80 to put you in the right frame of mind. A pickpocket was murdered in broad daylight! The way this case ends…does not feel so much like an ending as much as it is a piece to a much larger story which feels like it will come into play later on. This story ended more inconclusive than any story prior, but by no means does that mean it was not a good tale. The next story stars Detective Richard Moore and a crime at a bar! Detective Moore is trying to solve the murder as well as why he keeps falling asleep and solving cases! The next case starts off a case of infidelity…that ends up becoming a homicide case! It has Detective Conan using his deducting skills to figure out just how and more importantly why this tragedy occurred. The next story involves a murder in a porta potty!!! (YUCK…rough way to go!) Serena (Rachel’s friend) has a lot invested in this case as the prime suspect is her boyfriend, Makoto! The end and reason of the death is sad, but I found it incredibly interesting! This story ends the book in a nice closure with no cliff-hanger.

Finisce il caso in cui si vede coinvolta Jodie e scopriamo che Vermouth e Bourbon stanno tenendo d’occhio Conan. Lui lo scopre solo successivamente. Sera viene coinvolta invece negli altri due casi di questo volume e sembra scrivere a suo fratello che a quanto pare conosce Conan…
La trama principale viene ripresa pochissimo ma almeno va avanti. I casi sono sempre interessanti anche se con metodi di omicidio alquanto bizzarri.
Mi è piaciuto per una volta il punto di vista di Kogoro su un caso seguito anche se è sempre Conan a risolvere tutto alla fine. L’ho trovata una bella variazione rispetto allo stile classico e già visto più volte.

While the resolutions of the murders are as ridiculous and complex as always, this volume offers a glimpse into the long-running Black Organization arc, which is always a welcome addition to me. Any detail involving the Black Organization is a treat! I also enjoyed seeing the Detective Boys getting involved in a case—it’s always fun to watch them contribute. Plus, there's a new mystery: who is Sera’s brother? I really hope this plotline doesn’t get dragged out like some of the others. I still find it odd that Ran, Kogoro, and even the other detectives never seem to notice Conan constantly working behind (and sometimes in front of) the scenes to solve the mysteries.

It was so good to see Makoto after such a long time. Like everyone else, he thought Sera was a guy, but what was funny was that he though Sera was an insolent boy who was interested in Sonoko. I like seeing him jealous. I really want to see more of Akai/Okiya.

4 bintang dari aku.
Yeay, seri ini lebih seru dari seri sebelumnya menurutku.
Mungkin karena organisasi baju hitam dimunculin sedikit dan ada cinta-cintaannya juga, hehehe.
Kemunculan organisasi itu kan kesukaanku banget karena pastinya seru abis :D
Oh ya, misteri siapa sebenernya Sera juga makin seru.
Bikin penasaran dan terus menduga-duga nih.
Tapi sayangnya seri ini justru banyak typo-nya.
Duh, kalo bukan karena cerita kasus dan triknya yang seru, aku udah ngomel-ngomel kali pas baca ~_~

Bab paling menarik dalam komik jilid 81 ini ialah tentang penyiasatan kes pembunuhan di hadapan Detektif Mouri di sebuah bar. Antara peralatan yang ditemui berhampiran mayat ialah kotak kodak, set damak, kayu snuker dan poster selebriti. Bab ini juga tentang usaha Mouri untuk mengenali dirinya ketika menjadi 'diri' yang lain ketika menyelesaikan kes, sehinggakan dia terkenal sebagai Kogoro yang ketiduran.

Volume molto carino.
La prima storia, nonostante ci fossero i giovani detective, è stata molto interessante e tutti questi continui riferimenti ad Akai e all’Organizzazione mi fanno ipotizzare che presto leggeremo un volume molto bello!
Bellissimo l’ultimo caso, dal titolo e dalle premesse non me lo immaginavo. E poi c’era Makoto <3

Nah volume ini baru (kembali) seru. Gak nyangka ternyata laki-laki bermasker dan 'istri'nya itu ternyata Amuro dan Vermouth. Percobaan kimia sepele tentang lilin dalam gelas juga seru. Pun kisah Sera dan kakak misteriusnya.

Amuro attraction with Shinichi (Conan) make me curious. Looks like he has some reason for delaying revealing Conan’s real identity to the organization - maybe he get special mission, who knows?
