Sophie is hoping for a fun night out with her friends, but when she bumps into Dan in the subway station, her plans suddenly change.
He's not the most attractive man she's ever seen, but there's something inexplicably captivating about him. And it's clear he's equally enamored with her.
She knows this is just a one night stand, but Dan is determined to prove her wrong. And she secretly hopes he does.
This 7k word spicy novella is a perfect quick read to get you in the Valentine's Day mood. You'll love this sizzling story of passion and new love.
GAH! This was so fun! After reading Stiff by this same author, I knew I needed to read more from her. And with Valentine’s Day coming next week, this was a perfect choice.
In just a 30-ish minute read, I felt the insta-lust, the insta-love, the sizzles, and EVEN THE ARROW.
If you’re looking for a well-written, very quick read, I recommend this cute and clever and sexy story.
I literally had to goofiest grin on my face through this entire story!!!!!
What if Cupid actually shot his arrow and connected you to your soulmate??? And his arrow made all your inhibitions evaporate so you could have a magical, steamy, perfect first date???
This was just the ultimate insta-love fantasy. AND AND the MMC is so unique!!! HE HAS A NORMAL BODY —I REPEAT—A NORMAL BODY. No six pack, all-muscle whatever whatever. He’s got a lil pudge but he’s still solid and masculine and a HOTTIE!!!
This only took like 30 minutes to read but was jam packed with sugar and spice. I absolutely loved this and literally might read it again tonight just because it was so cute.
In the words of Taylor Swift, “got love struck, went straight to my head,” which in short, sums up this perfect little novella!
It’s get-shot-by-Cupid-and-fell-in-love-on-the-subway insta love, there’s exhibitionism, he’s *pierced* and self conscious of his body, and the romance is SO FREAKING SWEET while the spice be spicing!
I love it so much. Just read it if you’re in the mood for something short, sweet, spicy, and wholly satisfying!
One Night On Valentine’s Day (Speculative Holiday Quickies, Book 6) by Thea Masen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Standalone * Novella * Valentine’s Romance * Magic * Older Characters (Late 30s) * Fated Mates * 48 pages
Short, sweet, and exactly what a holiday quickie should be.
This is book 6 in the "Speculative Holiday Quickies" series. Each book is a standalone with a different story, but they all share that subtle thread of magic. Never fully confirmed, never overly obvious, just enough to make you wonder if fate (or something more) is at play.
Naturally, the magical element here is Cupid… though you never actually see him. Our two MCs meet in a subway station on Valentine’s Day and experience instant, undeniable attraction. Against all odds, they find a restaurant, grab a meal, and then... because patience is clearly not on the menu, leave early to get right to it.
This is instalove turned up to 100, but honestly? It works. It makes sense for Valentine’s Day, especially with the implication that Cupid may have had a hand in things.
Like the others in this series, it delivers solid spice and heat, yet still manages to feel distinct from the rest. None of these stories feel repetitive, which I really appreciate.
I only have one left to read now (the 4th of July one), and I’m secretly, okay, not secretly at all, hoping for more holidays in the future. I mean… Earth Day? Equinoxes? Solstices? The possibilities are endless!
I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving a review because I want to.
- Just a touch of magic - Insta-love - Soulmates - Pure smut, tiny plot
Sophie just wanted a night out with her girl friends. But while they were waiting for the train, they spot a lady screaming about a man with a bow and arrow...but no man. After feeling a sharp twang, Sophie sees Dan for the first time and she can't resist him.
This is an insta-love story with a little sprinkle of magic and lots of spice. Usually there is a good balance of plot and spice in Thea's books but this series definitely leans more heavily to the smut and lacks a solid plot. This book especially. It dos not lack depth though. We learn sprinkles of information about the characters, who they are and what their lives are like, mixed in with the spicy bits and it's one of the reasons I adore Thea's books so much. Even when writing thirty-three pages of insta-love spice, she finds a way to give her characters depth.
It's short. It's sweet. And I loved every word of it.
Looking for a quick, spicy novella to get in the Valentine’s Day spirit? Well, I have a rec for you:
𝒪𝓃𝑒 𝒩𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝑜𝓃 𝒱𝒶𝓁𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑒’𝓈 𝒟𝒶𝓎 is now live! 🩷
This novella is the perfect balance of sweet & spicy. I wanted to be in Sophie’s shoes so bad. Imagine you’re getting ready to go out with your girlfriends when all of the sudden you meet your soulmate 💥 instant sparks
This novella is under 50 pages and perfect for getting you in the spirit for V-day. I mean, his peen is pierced…that alone should sell you. I also loved how the MMC didn’t have “the perfect body” because just like we preach on loving to see FMCs of all body shapes, MMCs should get the same. I personally am a big fan of a Dad bod. Dan was so sweet and then when he got Sophie all to himself? YUM.
Okay, in all seriousness, Thea is a new-to-me author and I had been looking forward to sampling some of her works for quite some time now. This one DELIVERED! When a lot of books get hot and heavy right from the beginning with the main course, the buildup on this one? Got me clenching my thighs even before any entrances were made at the 80% mark, like WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?! The appetizer alone is worth its weight in gold, I was practically blushing and squealing the whole time and that's very rare for a smutcore reader like myself, who have perfected the smut poker face.
The ability to choreograph those scenes and put them into words, AND to do it in a non-cringey way is not a small feat and she has perfected that craft. I'm very much looking forward to her next work and you've got yourself a HUGE fan, Thea!
This was a super short, sweet, and spicy Valentine’s Day novella about what might happen if Cupid connected you to your soulmate. Sophia and Dan lock eyes at the subway station and it’s lusty love at first sight.
Now I’ll be the first to scoff at insta-anything, I’m a slow burn girl through and through, but this was great. At least for Sophia, Dan isn’t someone that would normally have caught her eye but she definitely likes what she sees. They have so much in common and are basically perfect for each other. Which they spend a hot and spicy night finding out.
Making chemistry come alive in such a short amount of pages is really hard to do, but Masen does it consistently. She is amazing at telegraphing emotions and cues on compatibility. And so many of her characters are well-rounded.
Sophie and Dan are older than your typical MCs, they know what they like, they are not afraid to go after this pulling attraction.
In typical Thea Masen manner we get a novella full of Spice and sweet moments. From the very beginning we get the instalust attraction between Dan and Sophie that lead them both to this out the window caution and give in to the attraction. Loved how sweet and reassuring Dan was in regards to what he was feeling and had no qualms in letting Sophie know. I liked how quick things developed between them and how comfortable they were with each other.
Book Review: One Night on Valentine’s Day by Thea Masen
Synopsis: Sophie is heading out to find a one-night stand on Valentine’s Day with her girls, but when she bumps into Dan - their chemistry is undeniable and it’s going to be hard to keep it to one night.
Review: This book is about 33 pages of spicy-sweet Valentine’s romance and it hit the spot. Sophie and Dan were hot together but still maintained some interesting characteristics that wasn’t just about the bedroom. The pacing of this book was perfect and the details from Sophie’s POV and blocking gave the book depth even in its shorter amount of words. I’ve been reading Thea for a year now and her writing has always impressed me but it’s clearly becoming more detailed with each book!
Spicy Rating: 4/5 Overall Rating: 3.5/5 ~ The beginning of the book was very intriguing. I’ve never read a book about instalust but i was digging it at first. THEN Dan mentioned marriage….. and I was like “wut” and completely in shock. didn’t expect THAT.
The spice was on point but the fact that he wanted to MARRY her and then KNOCK HER UP? breeding kink? understandable but damn.
Look, sometimes you want a slow, drawn out love story and sometimes you just want to get to all the good stuff. One Night on Valentine's is the quick, soul-mate, erotic love story of Dan and Sophie. It was a hot and satisfying read with instant attraction and yet good for the soul, bathes in love and possibility. Highly recommend.
This was a great short and super spicy read! Despite it being a short read it did not lack a plot or details. What happens when Cupid sends that arrow flying?!? I loved how you get a dual POV from the characters. And I appreciate that Thea always makes her characters more relatable than you would typically read in books. It’s insta-love, it’s OTT, and I loved every bit of it!
I had the goofiest smile while reading this, and I can honestly say my cheeks hurt from smiling too much. It is a 30-ish minute read full of heart and spice. I would fall in love with Dan as well; Sophie never stood a chance. We just know they will have the happiest of happily ever after endings.
Whenever I am in a reading slump, I will reach for another of Thea Masen’s novellas.
I think most women would love this to happen to them. I know I would. Ms. Thea Masen you are awesome. I love your stories. I liked that they weren't a perfect body type, they had some flaws, or what we believe are flaws. The one thing I would have liked is a 5 year jump, but I do like my epilogues. Thanks for a great read.
Very instalust. It was fun for the two of them but I didn't really get any sense what they liked about each other. Well, I mean, they liked the sex, but they were already smitten at first sight before it happened. And they do unprotected sex without knowing each other's last names.
If that's your thing this is a no-angst short that can be finished quickly in one sitting
Just the right amount of spice. This little Valentine’s Day novella had the perfect amount of spice, but not too much of a plot. Cupid struck and bam, sexy time. I mean I’m not complaining; I guess that’s what happens when you get struck by his arrow. Pun intended.
If you love instalust and a HEA >> this is a quick, spicy, super short & sexy read. Thea Masen is queen of spice & she never misses. This is definitely more 🥵 than 🧠 but sometimes that’s just EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. Loved it 👏🏽
Super spicy and Sweet short read! I really enjoyed it! Perfect for a quick read on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. I will definitely be reading more books by Thea soon! Highly recommend!
