What if a Formula 1 World Champion falls for his Rookie teammate?
Luke Anderson is the clean cut, poster boy of Formula One. With one World Championship under his belt, he is chasing the second. Whatever the cost. What he didn’t bank on was his biggest threat coming from inside his own team.
Tyler Finley is an arrogant, hot headed, heir whose signing has come with a lot of press attention. When the teammates meet, the dislike is instant. They are forced to put the team’s image first and play nice in front of the cameras, but with each moment spent together, Luke realises first impressions can be deceiving.
When feelings start to emerge and temptation becomes too great, will Luke get out of his head long enough to find that there may be more to life than racing? Or will he sacrifice everything to win that second title?

This enemies to lovers novel is a cross between Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and Netflix’s Drive to Survive. With reverse grumpy/sunshine, forbidden love and Formula one, it's for anyone who loves sports romance.
A thirty something mum of two with a passion for contemporary fiction. With a background in events management, Sophie's passion has always been for creating stories and exploring relationships through words. Brought up in the French countryside, she spent hours writing short stories, poems and songs throughout her childhood, culminating in a BA(hons) in English Literature, Creative Writing and Spanish. After university, she finally wrote her first novel, At the Top of the Hill. More recently turning that first novel into a screenplay. Sophie lives in Bedfordshire with her husband Chris, her daughter and her son and can often be found out walking, baking or listening to country music.
If you want to write a fictional book about f1 drivers go ahead, if it includes a romantic plot with gay characters, great not a ploblem. Continue to write and you'll eventually get better at it, this as a beginning set of work is alright, but read better and less dry. What you shouldn't do is promote it on tiktok, using real life drivers, who are not in an actual romantic relationship, and are in fact in real life relationships with women – if you want to write lestappen just stick to wattpad/ao3/whatever other website you can find fanfics on, don't bring them into your business as a professional author. It's okay to make a book out of a fanfic, handfuls of authors have done so, but when you promote an actual book you are publishing you do not include REAL PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT GAY in your promos. Also, it's clear the author doesn't really watch f1, which is why some people are saying you don't need much knowledge of the sport to understand it – well of course you don't if the author doesn't either.
I personally don't see why Luke would be that dramatic about someone who he had like 3 non-work conversations with. I also don't get why Tyler would be this persistently interested in someone who's consistently pretty shitty to him. All in all it was a lot of brooding, ignoring each other and not communicating and very little actually spending time together, which isn't the type of romance I like.
Love in the Fast Lane is a fast-paced, enemies to lovers MM romance that follows Tyler and Logan. Tyler, the rookie, and Logan, the reigning world champion, are newfound teammates and yep, they hate each other.
One’s a perfect golden child while the other is hot headed and arrogant. Forced to work together, emotions are at an all time high and they each have a point to prove. What they don’t count on is falling for each other in the process.

Like an F1 race, this book flew by in the blink of an eye. It was a quick read that could be easily done in a day or so. However, it was as exciting as the 2024 Monaco GP. The premise drew me in, but it wasn’t my favorite in regard to other F1 romances I’ve read.
It almost felt a little bland? I’d found out about it through TikTok and had high hopes, but it was almost too surface level. The chemistry was lacking, as was the F1 content.
If you’re brand new to F1 romances, I think it’s an excellent place to start. It doesn’t bog you down on terminology and such for sure.
Not a sport I'm at all interested in, but why let that get in the way of a good romance? The fact that I didn't enjoy this all that much for the most part was far more due to despising Tyler for the first half of the book and the fact that these two really didn't have any romantic chemistry whatsoever. The story grew on me towards the end, but that was too little too late to up my rating.
The writing about the actual sport was lacking so much that I wonder if the author even watches the sport. But apart from that, lovely quick evening read.
I was actually impressed with the level of F1 knowledge in this book and the enemies to lovers trope was cute. The Spa 2019 references were not okay. A mid read to end the year
A feel good F1 romance. This book does a great job of depicting life in the fast lane and you can’t help but root for the characters. Regularly gave me goosebumps which is always a good sign!
Luke's emotions weren't really elaborated, which caused some actions/events to not really make any sense or they just came out of nowhere. I think the book lacked some build, but is was fine overall.

It was exactly what I wanted it to be - a cheesy f1 romance with a little drama.
Could it have been better? Yes. Was it highly unrealistic? Yes Are there some issues? Yes. But did it do exactly what it said it would do on the tin? Absolutely yes.
Also loved the references to TVD and 1D so really this book was written for me.
I love the little twists to make this F1 story sweeter. It’s defo more F1 heavy than some of the other sports romance in this section I’ve read but I really liked that.
I absolutely loved this book. I started reading git in the evening and then I just couldn't put it down, so I stayed up till the middle of the night and finished it in one sitting. It was a clear 5 star read for me and I would have given it more stars if I could. Both Luke and Tyler were such lovable main characters and the setting of the story was great as well. I enjoyed every little detail of the book. It had me both loving and crying. There was a very nice tribute in the story, that had me in tears and when I read the Authors note at the end of the book my heart was broken (in a good way though).
I would definitely recommend this book to everybody who loves F1 romance books, but also to anyone who loves romance books in general because you don't need to know a lot about F1 to understand the setting of the book.
