If you’re looking for a basic retirement guide, this is the book for you. It guides you through 7 steps and touches on financial, emotional and physical matters related to retirement.
I like that this book addressed many different retirement accounts: 401k’s/403b’s, Roth and Traditional IRA’s as well as CD’s and high interest savings accounts to name a few. The message of investing early in your career and taking advantage of compounding interest is emphasized.
The book focuses a lot on emotions and different reactions individuals have toward retirement. There were several suggestions for the different responses. Apps, side jobs and volunteer opportunities were explored.
I would have liked more focus on health care and long term care options and recommendations. Although healthcare was mentioned it was glossed over and only focused on the fact that it would be needed and more expensive as we age. In today’s world, healthcare costs are a primary factor for many people; many of whom put off retirement until after reaching Medicare age. I would have liked to read more than the recommendation to shop around.
Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me a digital copy of this book.
When I requested this book I knew that I would be going on early retirement very soon. I don't really know what I expected from this book but it certainly did not meet my expectations. Main reason for this I guess is that the book seems to be exclusively written for the American Market. Therefore it is not very useful for Europeans, because situations and social services are way different in Europe regarding health care, pensions, etc.
Because I already requested the book I decided to read it anyway so I could write this review. Besides that the economical situation in Europe is different I had not expected the book to be solely about how to save up enough money to be able to retire. I didn't like the way it was only focussed on the financial side of retirement. Although the book was written clearly and understandably, I felt there was quite a bit of repetition. After a while I thought about a number of points: "yes I know, you told this before".
So maybe this book works great for others, but it was totally not for me.
I’ll start this out with the statement that I wish I’d read this book many years ago. Given my current age and likely retirement age, I should have gotten this information from somewhere a long time ago. (From this book would have been perfect, except it didn’t exist until more recently.) That said, there is a ton of information here that is and will continue to be valuable to me. The subjects covered in this book include the obvious, specifically the financial issues surrounding retirement, but also some of the other less obvious issues, what I’ll describe as the mental roadblocks and mental adjustments you’ll need to prepare for and work through. Some, I’d thought of, but this has got me thinking of others. I suspect many who, like me, are close to retirement, could benefit from reading this too. The downside is that you’re liable to stress out if you realize you aren’t as prepared in some ways as you thought you were, but better to adjust plans now if needed.

This is a retirement book, that is not like the ones that I have read previously. What makes this unique is that it does not focus solely on the financial aspect of retirement, but it also focuses on how your life will change, things to take into consideration that you might not think of right now such as healthcare, extra time, taking up new hobbies, and so on. The seven steps outlined in this book will help you build your own retirement plan as well as your own goal. I found this was very helpful in allowing me to get a clearer picture of how I would want my retirement to look which in turn will help me plan better. A great book for those of us 40 and older
A must-read! As its title indicates,”The retirement planning roadmap” is a book that will guide people who are close to retirement to organise that stage in their lives. Sweet Home publishing has written a simple, worth reading guide that will give elderly people a different perspective of their retiral, which is a new beginning for them. It includes options for easy jobs to do during this stage as well as the benefits those works will bring to people. It also shows people ways of saving money without depriving them from doing activities that are healthy and necessary for them. In short, I believe that this book will help working people understand that they have contributed so much to their country that at the end they deserve a plentiful and joyful life. I highly recommend it!
"The Retirement Planning Roadmap" is not just a book on financial planning for retirement; it is a comforting compass meant to guide people through the maze of emotions and decisions surrounding this important chapter of life. From the first chapter, I have established a connection with the reader, acknowledging the anxieties and expectations that can arise when facing the idea of retiring. What really stands out about this work is its holistic approach. It goes beyond discussing numbers and investment strategies, but also explores the importance of finding meaningful purpose in retirement. This has been crucial in my time facing the possibility of an emotional "emptiness" after so many years dedicated to my work and profession.
If you dream of retiring one day and don't fail, this is the book you need to read. ''The Retirement Planning Roadmap'' is a guide to help you plan your retirement easily. Here you will find information about savings, 9 retirement plans, strategies on how to make good investments, and more. This is a complete guide that will surely fit your needs and of course your plans. You will find everything you need to know in simple and very well-explained language. I am sure that this book will be useful to you and will meet your expectations. I recommend reading this book as soon as possible, everyone needs a retirement plan.
As a good basic guide to understanding your financial goals and retirement goals, this book is a good resource. There is a lot of discussion about creating a financial plan (over the first 1/3 of the book) as well as the rule of 4% withdrawals from retirement plans, how to streamline your finances, a brief discussion of investment options, ending with a brief discussion about the emotional considerations to retirement.
There is nothing new here, but as a quick easy-to-read guide, this provides good information and the bibliography has links as well.
I received an ARC from the Publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
It’s simple to understand and touch on every aspects, including the phases, you need to know about retirement. Good resource and guide ( planning for passive income, savings, expenses, activities etc) for people who are planning or who are already in retirement mode. Highly recommended!
Very good book and how to retire the best way. Plans are easy to use but will take time, better start when you’re in your 20’s-30’s to retire when your 65-70 years of age.
Was good for learning about all the aspects about preparing for retirement except for finances. The sections discussing finances read like a week freshman level of coverage.
Full of ideas about how to plan your life after retirement. Easy to understand and easy to follow I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I want to review
