Crazy Good

Rate this book
Before there were bikers, or fighters, or even good old-fashioned jerks, there were Navy SEALs. They put the bad in badass because, well… it’s their job.

Navy SEAL Maverick Hart has everything. Women want him. Grown men idolize him. Little boys want to grow up and be like him. The job, the glory — it’s all his. Not because it’s handed to him… because he works hard for it. The second his sights lock on something, he owns it — or destroys it. Unfortunately he does both at the same time.

Windsor Forbes only takes calculated risks in her profession and in her personal life. After being left at the altar by the only person she’s ever loved, the very last thing she’s looking for is a relationship — especially the insane brand an arrogant Navy SEAL is offering. Hesitant, yet trusting to a fault, she gives in.

She knew she shouldn’t take the chance, especially a second time, but love is irrational and their love is perfect, infallible. Or so she thought…

The downfall to having everything is you have that much more to lose. A man like Maverick can’t have it all without something slipping out of grasp.

Crazy people perish for love.

Good people live for it.

Love doesn’t die. No matter how many bullets you put in it.

WTF happened this time?! This is a perfect example of how my tastes have changed! I was completely bored, the H was a douche in the biggest way, and I swear the h had a split personality with her major ups and downs!! I don't know what I was thinking the first time I read this, and sadly I didn't write a review to explain myself. Taking this off my favorites shelf, and lowering my star rating to...2 because for some reason my crazy past-self did seem to enjoy this the first time I read it 😶

5 Crazy Good Great Navy SEAL Stars!!!

Currently(8/26) $0.99 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Good-Rach...

This is a story that stays with you. This is a story about love. Love between a man and a woman, between a man and his brothers, and between friends. It's also a story about second, third, and sometimes fourth chances. A story about grief, forgiveness, and healing. Sit back and be ready for a crazy good ride. Grab a box of Kleenex, a bottle of wine, your significant other or favorite adult toy, and enjoy the story about to unfold.

Thomas "Maverick" Hart has a rule about women: "I fuck em' and forget em'." Of course, once he meets Windsor Forbes, his SOP (standard operating procedure) goes out the door leaving Maverick to begin a new mission on unchartered waters. Maverick is a Navy SEAL. He thrives on adrenaline. He is walking sex on a stick. Women want him and Men want to be him. Maverick is a man who would do anything for his fellow Navy Seal brothers. They are his family as he is estranged from his parents.

Windsor Forbes is a CPA (or as Maverick likes to call her a Cock Polishing Assistant where numbers are her comfort zone; numbers are safe. Windsor has been burned by love before and is not looking for another relationship anytime soon. After her friends drag her out to a club to get out and have fun, she runs in to Maverick. She sizes his MO up right away and has no problem telling Mav that it ain't happening. Windsor puts up a good fight but the pull she and Mav have towards each other is just too strong.

The first chapter takes place in the present and you are thrown with a WTF....didn't see that coming moment that just sucks you in, feeding your need to read this book.

Then we go back a year and half in the past to where it all begins. This story was beautifully written and I will definitely be looking for more books from this author. I enjoyed the entire book. There really wasn't one thing I didn't like about it. Ms. Robinson's writing had me literally visualizing this story in my head like a movie while I was reading. The military action seemed very accurate as I have never been deployed personally, I loved the secondary characters and would read their stories if she chooses to write about them, and the tragedies and emotions had me ugly crying bad!!! I'm still having a huge book hangover and don't feel like I'm describing what I felt reading this book enough. It seriously surprised me. I didn't expect to love it so much. Please feel free to see my updates while I was reading to see some of my favorite quotes as I'm not going to repeat them here. I highlighted a lot of this book. The emails while Mav was deployed were so so good!! YOU MUST READ IT!!

I must now Thank all of our Military for their courageousness & sacrifice and their families. My heart goes out to them all for the challenges they face. My prayers are with them and their families. My heart also aches for the many good men and women who have died in action and for their families left behind. I was especially moved by Navy Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL/Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist) Jon T. Tumilson, who lost his life during Operation Enduring Freedom on August 6, 2011 at the young age of 35, and his best friend, Hawkeye. Below our links to Jon & Hawkeye as well as some pictures. You will notice that I used Jon as my casting for Maverick.

4.5--Crazy Good--Stars!!!

I really liked this one. Kind of found it on a whim and the synopsis hooked me in. Definitely didn't disappoint. Great debut!

And speaking of hooking me in...chapter 1....oh yeah, I was hooked.

The story starts in present day where the heroine, Windsor, gets some shocking information about the hero, Maverick.

And then we flash back to the past and learn how Maverick and Windsor meet and all of the events leading up to present day.

I will say this was a bit on the angsty side.....but not more then I could handle!

Maverick is a Navy SEAL.

He's a "fuck 'em and dump 'em" kind of guy. Windsor won't give him the time of day...she knows his kind...she's NOT going there.

But Maverick is up for the challenge and eventually breaks through Windsor's walls. I really loved Maverick and Windsor together.

Just as quickly as they get together, Maverick is deployed and they are to spend the next six months apart. I really liked the love letters they send back and forth to each other. Events during that time threaten to ruin their already fragile relationship.

The angst factor really picks up at this point. We eventually catch up to the present and the remainder of the story unfolds. As evidenced by my status updates, I pretty much devoured this book. Every time I picked it up, I couldn't put it down.

The secondary characters were great and hopefully we might see other books about them in the future. Overall, I definitely recommend this one. It was the perfect mix of angst and steam.

This started off "crazy good" (yes, I just did that) and then around the 45% mark just went crazy eh. And I don't really know how to put into words why.

Everything started off so strong that I thought it was going to be a 5-star read all the way, but then things kind of went sideways. The characters started doing and saying things that didn't seem to flow and things started getting convoluted.

For example, It felt like it was an element that was added in later and not an organic part of the author's original plan and it just wasn't seamless to me.

Also, Windsor's characterization completely turns on its head.

Like I said the story just seemed to lose its way and I found it to be kind of frustrating. And a bit of a let down to say the least.

I only know a few things about this woman, but I’m left with one damn thought: Windsor wins this match, hands down. I rearrange my hard-on for the millionth time in one night. Mother fucker.

If I don’t do a review straight away after reading the book, my memory of the book dims….. I know, that is bad! I do remember that I did enjoy it.

4.5 You're Everything Stars

Title:Crazy Good
Series:Standalone
Author:Rachel Robinson
Release Date: April 7th, 2014
Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

I want her to only see me. Eat me. Breathe me. Drink me. I want to consume Windsor Forbes.

Warning: If you don't like the following things, DON'T read this book.

A crazy sexy predatory bad boy SEAL
A woman who brings that SEAL to his knees
A love story with highs and lows
Tears and heart flutters
A hero that writes a song for the heroine and sings and plays it on the guitar for her
Amazing romantic gestures
Epic love letters
A passion so hot you need a spare set of panties.

If you like these things, ladies...you're in luck.

In the beginning, Maverick is a total bad boy player only out to find his prey, bag it, and move along.

Fortunately, as a Navy SEAL, he's got plenty of women lining up for the position of one night with him. When he locks eyes on Windsor (Love that name!) one night, he decides immediately, she's next on his list. Normally, I don't care for heroes that act like this. I can't stand when they blatently use women and toss them aside, but what I hate even more is heroines that simper and sigh and fall all over these bad boys and ignore their obvious character. Does this woman fall for his looks and facade? Hell no. She crushes his play. Hard.

He approaches her with his cocky swagger and dimples on display and gets quite a surprise.

"I don't do dates. I don't do numbers. I work with them. Let's not pretend this is going anywhere." She motions with her hand. "I know what you're after and, frankly, I'm not giving it up. Not to anyone and especially not to a Navy SEAL who shoots just as precisely with his gun as he does with his dick," she says.

Mav is shocked but decides to put her out of his mind and move on. But her intelligence, her beauty, and the sexy sway of her hips as she's walking away pulls him in and he can't stop thinking about her. He can't deny that no one else will do for him except her. And he's going to have a hell of a time convincing her he's worthy.

My ultimate weakness has been exposed, ripped open so wide that I'll never be able to fill the fucking gap with anything or anyone except her."

He hunts her down and tries again after a week and does she cave and give in? Absolutely not. I love that she held her ground and made him work for every little bit of her time. Because she's worth it. She's been burned in the past by her ex and she's not about to let someone walk into her life and use her and abuse her trust like she's already experienced.

She finally agrees to a date and he's completely respectful, takes her out in a crazy, spontaneous and thrilling way, and shows her by taking into his home and letting her into his life and showing her the real Maverick. She's special and means more to him than anyone ever before. And she can't deny the sexual chemistry they have every time they're in the same room together.

He brushes a strand of my hair away from my face and cups my bare shoulder with his other hand. The magic shivers start again. He leans down and I have to work at controlling my shaking body. He's going to kiss me. He's going to kiss me. He swallows and the tattoo on his neck dances. I want to lick it.

Usually, it's the heroine that wants to take things slow, but Mav is in deep and he's scared that once they give in to what they want, she's going to leave. He's been through something in his past (it's hinted at but isn't explained until later) and he doesn't feel worthy. He wants to dig deep under her skin until he knows that she's going to never leave.

She was getting impatient. I was getting impatient. The sexual tension was crackling, mounting, and I just knew it was going to be good. The anticipation was killing me! And then...Finally...

I wipe her bottom lip with my thumb and kiss her. I taste Windsor. I want to bottle this fucking flavor and drink until I'm drunk. Her blue eyes are heavy, glazed with lust, her pupils almost completely dilated. I ask, "Can I have you?" It's a loaded question. Resting her hand over my new tat, she says, "I thought you'd never ask."

I was loving every second of their heat and it was definitely worth the wait. This woman knows how to write passion. Amazing.

So now they're both all in, blissfully happy but nervous and just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Could it really be this easy? This emotional roller coaster ride that's taken them through fear, anticipation, passion and lust, and tenderness...is this where they'll stay...for good?

They have a way of communicating with each other: One Word. This is their way of being open and honest with their feelings. All they need is one word. One word to tell the other what they need, what they want, or how they feel. That was beautiful.

When Mav is shipped overseas, they're scared of the separation, but are willing to do whatever it takes to hold onto each other and stay strong. But after a horrible tragedy occurs, emotions are running away from them and the world is spinning out of control. How do they hang on when everything has changed irrevocably? Nothing will ever be the same. Truths are revealed, everything is laid out and let me tell you, I wasn't expecting what happened. I was gutted by what occured.

They both make some mistakes, and rash decisions and everything crumbles. Is their love strong enough to endure all the hurdles that are thrown at them?

I was so impressed with this author's writing and I was grabbed by the heart. I had flutters, tears, flutters again...and left the book feeling so satisfied. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? The hero made some moves that had me wanting to smack him or possibly throw my kindle at the wall...and that's saying something. Nothing comes between me and my e-reader...lol. But of course, he made up for it and went over and beyond expressing his feelings with romantic gestures and proving his love. The ending was everything I could've asked for.

I loved Mav and Windsor's friends. They were a riot and so completely there for them through everything. They had a bond that was beautiful to see. Oh, and I was going to make a small playlist to go along with the book because I had several songs in mind that fit, but after listening to the full lyrics of this song, I'm just sayin'- if you want a preview of this book in a song that illustrates through every word the definition of this couple? Check this song out. (I love this cover):

Song link

Overall, to sum it up...

One word: Amazing.

4 Badass Stars

Maverick is a SEAL that doesn’t do relationships… or feelings. He is a “f*ck them and dump them” kind of guy. Until the day he meets Windsor and this sexy badass playboy finds himself falling on his knees for this girl. And that’s a feeling that he’s not used to.

description

But Windsor, recently out of a long term relationship has some past ghosts that doesn’t let her be completely free and she has some fears. And so does Maverick.
Told in the span of almost two years, this is their beautiful and sometimes excruciating love story.

description

Rating: 4 Stars.
Storyline: A beautiful love story, with really angsty moments, but with some sweet and romantic ones. An amazing journey of two person that didn’t know how to deal with true feelings until they had no other choice of embracing it.
Writing Style: Female POV. Amazingly written, emotional and beautiful.
Character Development: Both of them were troubled and with that came some annoying bad decisions. But they completely redeemed themselves and I loved them both. The supportive characters were also pretty good.
Steam: Hot.

4.5 Crazy Good Stars

I loved this book, probably because I went in not knowing what to expect. I saw Navy SEAL in the blurb and thought, yep, I'm reading this one.

Chapter one reeled me in, the book starts in the present where Windsor is visiting Maverick in hospital, here she gets the shock of her life and her heart broken. We are then sent back to the past where we learn all about how they met.

Maverick is a badass manwhore but when he meets Windsor he wants her like he's never wanted anything before. Winsdor has been cheated on in the past and isn't looking for anything, although she is extremely attracted to him.

"This guy could be Kellan Kyle mixed with Channing Tatum, and he wouldn't have a chance in hell with my wall."

But, how can you not fall in love with Maverick. He really wants to be the man for her but his past and his job make it difficult to believe that this is really real.

The story took an unexpected turn and this kept me turning the page late into the night.

My emotions were all over the place, first i felt shock, worry, hope, horny, happy, angst, heartbreak, more angst.

The side characters are really important too and play an important part in this story. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for something which makes you feel a gamut of emotions.

I really enjoyed this book. Maybe it was because I could relate to it so well. My husband currently has two dead hooker bags sitting in the hallway in preparation for his upcoming deployment. Maybe that's why I cried while reading this or maybe its not, who knows. I definitely could sympathize with the feeling of missing someone and having to continue on with life while they are away.

Anyways, enough sob stories regarding me...Onto the book...

Our heroine Windsor is a CPA and a very cautious person in general. She was burned by Nashole the Asshole a few years ago and is not very excited about dating.

She goes out with BFFs Gretchen and Morganna and goes to the club and sees Maverick. Maverick is a ladies man. He likes to love them and leave them.

Windsor turns him down so he looks to her as a challenge.

Eventually he works on her and she's so horny she doesn't know what to do....

 photo tumblr_me6gn8icZB1qc0yog_zpsc284bfb1.gif

But Maverick winds up caring for her more than he expected he would.

love photo 500-500-days-of-summer-gif-girl-love-Favimcom-2307501_zps48231aac.gif

Unfortunately he has to deploy and leave her for six months. It's different this time because he has someone waiting for him when he comes back....

 photo tumblr_msxioxawKq1sfesy8o1_500_zps34bc79dd.gif

Maverick comes back a changed person and looks to alcohol to numb the pain.

ALCOHOL photo tumblr_inline_motfojM1sq1qz4rgp_zpsdfad810d.gif

Can Windsor get past all the pain and help Maverick get back to the guy she fell in love with? Or will Maverick push her too far and she won't come back?

The side characters like Morganna and Stone were great! I loved them!

Gretchen was pretty cool too.

will also say I loved Goose!!

Monica however...

And I didn't like Steve either.

creepy photo tumblr_lywwtsXGGa1qgh1pb_zpsbced78d7.gif

I'm really a little confused about her mom and his parents but whatever...

JESSICA'S FINAL NOTE OF WISDOM: There was a bit more drama in this than I would have preferred and I felt there were a few things that I never got answers to, hence the 4 stars but it was a very enjoyable book.

"I can’t control your past, but if I could, you would have always been mine to love."-Maverick

Days after reading Crazy Good and I am still thinking about it. After reflecting on the read, I attribute my love for this book to the strong characters and their relationships with each other.

The story begins with a bang. I did a complete double take when the plot twist was presented in the first few pages of the book. I mean it's a big bang.....

description

You can't help but be swept away! After a quick glimpse into the future, the reader is transported back into the past. This is where the true story begins.

description

The heroine Windsor is one of a kind. I really connected with her. I found her to be strong, honest, forgiving, and beautiful. Windsor is a no nonsense type of girl. She is an accountant who works with numbers. She was dumped by her first love and has since been weary of men. It doesn't bother her to be alone. She is happy in her own skin. She has two strong best friends that love her and want to help her out of her funk. While out in the club, she meets Maverick. Maverick is sex on a stick. But our girl Windsor is no stranger to the charms of men and is determined to stay away! No insta love with this girl!

"This guy could be Kellan Kyle mixed with Channing Tatum , and he wouldn’t have a chance in hell with my wall."-Windsor

description

Maverick is a ladies man. He is a navy seal (enough said). He loves his brothers. He has plenty of money. He doesn't need a relationship. He doesn't need anything. Until he meets Windsor. She denies him. He has never been denied.

"I know the masses of easy f**** are just behind me, but I want this one. I want Windsor."-Maverick

Although it starts as a game, Maverick falls for Windsor. After some relentless chasing, Windsor finally gives in and gives Maverick the time of day. I truly admired the way that Windsor lays everything out on the line for him. No secrets when it comes to what she thinks or how she feels.

“The only man I ever loved cheated on me. I found out about his two-year long affair while I was trying on my wedding dress for the final time. I don’t want you to feel sorry for me.” She pauses and shakes her head. “I just want you to know so you don’t expect much from me,” she says.

It doesn't take long for a tender romance to bloom. Maverick's best friend and navy seal brother is married to Windsor's best friend Morganna. This additional connection only strengthens the bond between all of them. Maverick struggles with giving his heart to Windsor. Once he is able to recognize his feelings for her, it is game over. He will do anything to win her over completely!

"I can’t have anyone else influencing her decisions except me. I want her to only see me. Eat me. Breathe me. Drink me. I want to consume Windsor Forbes."

description

The journey is bliss between these two. Maverick is the epitome of alpha male goodness. I truly lavished in this portion of the book. The romance was so sweet. The evolution of these characters was remarkable.

"With a man like Maverick, you don’t try to decipher, you just ride the waves as they come and hope like hell you can hold on tight enough to enjoy the ride— or at the very least prevent yourself from drowning."-Windsor

Knowing what we know from the beginning of the story only heightens the tension. What is going to happen next?

description

Maverick is deployed and the separation is very painful for both of them. The communication between the two, while he is miles away, will melt your heart!

"Missing someone meant that you are fortunate to love someone in the first place . If you don’t miss them, you don’t love them. Some don’t get that chance. Somehow, fortunate isn’t any of the things I’m feeling."-Windsor

"Your love changed some fundamental part of me. The wall I built around myself for so long is completely toppled down."-Maverick

While Maverick and Windsor are apart, bad things happen. There is a huge wave of heartbreak. I am not a huge fan of this level of angst and heartbreak and yet I realize the importance of every single event. The struggle to find their way back to one another is not an easy one.

"I know the man I love is gone . Sure, he may be somewhere inside, but his life song is altered indefinitely. People come into your life for different reasons. Some give you something you didn’t know you ever needed. Others take things you didn’t know you should give."-Windsor

Overall, Crazy Good is by far the best read this year so far for me. I just cannot say enough about how much I loved this book. It has a strong beginning, middle, and end. The characters weather the turbulence together and make it to the other side. The only reason I rated this book a 4.5 instead of a 5 is because of the way the big bang from the beginning played out. I felt like there could have been more resolution on that matter. Additionally, I did not enjoy the way that our hero behaved through the heartbreak phase. Although I understand his reasons, I didn't enjoy it. Still an amazing read. So thankful for my Goodreads buddies for recommending this book to me. We all know the joy we feel when finding a treasure. Read this book you will love it! BEST HEA EVAH!

"Everything comes into focus. How all of my decisions have led me to this exact moment in time when everything is seemingly perfect. The hurdles and bad choices all ended working in our favor. If one small thing shifted in our past we may not be right here."

This story is about an irresistible navy seal who falls desperately in love with a girl who was just a challenge for him in the beginning.

The story had it all.. an amazing tattooed, hot as hell navy seal, a great heroine, lovable and very special secondary characters but most importantly a reliable romance.

This story made me really swoon

but it was also heartbreaking

sometimes I just thought

But it had also some really romantic moments

and lots of

See? It had it all :D
Overall it was a great read and you should really read it if you're in the mood for a good romance story.

Minority is a pair of panties I have in every color….

When asked to read this book, Rachel Robinson had me at Navy SEAL. It ended up being nothing like I had expected. When I read the synopsis, I instantly associated this book with some of my favorite alpha series. Authors like Belle Aurora, T.E. Sivec, and Kristen Ashley came to mind. However, it fell a little short of those expectations (i.e. preconceived notions). I admit that this is of no fault to the author. This one's on me. It's completely unfair to compare a book to others before having even read it. I really need to get the word "assuming" tattooed on my ass as a reminder.

You know how sometimes you read a book and you know, you know it has all the makings of an amazing story. You have your five star x-ray glasses on and you see it. You actually see it. The potential is almost palpable. This is how I felt about Crazy Good. It was so close to being there, but the execution and pacing needed a little more polish.

I know I'm the minority here. Aren't I always? So let me explain.

The book got off to a rough start by having the end take place in chapter one. I wish it would have been written in chronological order with the story. There was something about it that felt misplaced. I've seen this technique used as a device in other stories to intrigue and to captivate. A device used to tease and then build an entire story up to that point. Sometimes it does exactly that; it builds anticipation. It works. Here, it didn't.

I loved Maverick's pursuit of Windsor; the tension was thick and intriguing. I also really enjoyed the dual POVs and think that Rachel Robinson handled this beautifully. It's what came next that caused the story to make a sharp turn down the frontage road creating a ripple that effected the rest of the story.

After Maverick and Windsor enter coupledom, the story stalled and the pace faltered. It wasn't until the final 25% of the book where I was pulled back in. This is where the story possessed the potential to break me. The potential to surpass other generic stories of this genre, but it was rushed. There was so much that needed to happen here, but impossible to fit it all in. Too much time was wasted on Maverick and Windsor being together where I wanted more development of there journey back together. To me, this was the heart of the story. I never quite felt Maverick's redemption, and this broke my heart. I also feel like his addiction issues were skirted over. This was an important part of the story that was unfortunately side barred.

So much about the conclusion felt unfinished and underdeveloped. An issue I attribute to the pacing not the content. There wasn't enough time, enough words to fit it all in. It made it impossible to do this story justice, and it deserved that. Rachel Robinson created a story that deserved that.

I loved Stone and the intense brotherhood of the SEALs. I loved the ache I felt in the end, but I can't rate a book based on what I saw the story could be.

In the end, I wouldn't even call this an alpha male book as much as a book that contained alpha males. It was a great start for Rachel Robinson. She is definitely an author with potential.

3.5 stars...

Well what can I say about this book?

Was it sweet? Yes... Very
The unattainable Navy seal who baggs all women. The wham Bham thank you ma'am kind of guy.
Meet Maverick. Yes his picture perfect!

Offcourse he meets a girl. Someone different. Windsor....

She's different from all the skanks his with. And the difference? She isn't interested in being used by Mav.

So.... As much as I want to give the plot away, I won't.
I'll just say that everyone can meet that one person who makes everything okay.

The one person who can make you can also tear you to a million pieces.

With that being said does it make you love that person any less?
No.... Because love isn't like that.

Whether it's loving the love of your life or loving your best friend.

There were real sad moments in this book and some awesome characters!

This is my first Rachel Robinson book and it won’t be my last. I have some others marked on my TBR but I hadn’t marked any in this series.

Maverick Hart and Windsor Forbes are both good characters. This was an enjoyable book from start to finish with just enough angst to keep it interesting but not so much drama that it exhausts you.

Holy Crap! Seriously, Holy Crap!

I just have to write this. I know it's obvious, but I still have to write it:

Crazy Good is crazy good!!!

You have simply got to read this book. Rachel has written one of, if not the best, self-contained erotic romance novels I have ever read. And I don't say that lightly. I have read hundreds of erotic novels. Most of them were parts of series, giving the author plenty of room to spread out and tell an epic love story. However, it is not often I've read a single self contained erotic romance novel that is able to successfully tell an entire epic love story without it feeling rushed, or feeling like the reader has been left hanging with unfinished business.

Crazy Good is one such novel.

It features Windsor Forbes and Maverick Hart. Windsor has been burned once before by a man she thought she loved and planned on marrying. That experience left her bruised and unwilling to trust again.

Maverick is a Navy SEAL. He is a true manly man, tattooed, tough, strong, good at his job, and used to bagging a new girl every night. He has never had a real relationship, and sees no value in it. He thinks he's happy with his life, not understanding just how hollow it really is.

Everything changes when the two of them meet in a bar.

Windsor is best friends with Morganna, who is happily married to Maverick's SEAL buddy, Stone. Stone has a long history with Maverick and would do anything for him. He knows that Maverick deserves more, and he hopes that Windsor may be the woman who can give it to him.

They start off slow, both unsure about how to proceed, but once things start heating up, they really heat up. The sex is blazing hot. The love they begin to feel for each other is palpable. Windsor decides to take the plunge and trust again, and Maverick starts to realize how much he's been missing in his life.

The opening chapter is a bit of a gut punch, which left me reeling, and that was before I even knew these characters. I think it was a bit cruel for the author to start us off like that, but I forgave her, and you will too.

The book is told from alternating perspectives, which I really like. It gives us a peek into the minds of both characters, which I think only broadens the experience for the reader.

You really must read this book. I can't stress that enough. I promise you will have a new favorite book boyfriend in Maverick. Heck, if I wasn't a straight guy, I'd go for him myself. He is incredibly sexy, masculine, but without being obnoxious about it. I think most women would totally swoon over him. And Windsor is strong enough to stand up to him, strong enough to deserve him. Together they make for a powerful new couple in erotica romance.

****SPOILERS****

I wasn't going to review this book but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it... so this is me putting it all out there.

I'm so confused about where I stand with this book. I absolutely LOVED the prologue and the first several chapters. The writing pulled me in from the very start and I thought I had found something special. I loved the prologue, the way the author gutted me right out of the gate.... I LOVE THAT. I loved Maverick and Windsor, I loved their characters, their personalities, the dynamic between them. I loved the slow build, the sexual tension, the magnets that seemed to be pushing and pulling. I loved all of that. I loved the secondary characters, possibly more than I loved the MCs. Stone and Morganna stole the show, in my opinion.

However, somewhere, and I can't pinpoint exactly where, things started to fall apart. Maybe fall apart is the wrong word, because I remained invested in the story until the very end. I suppose I just grew confused at some point.

Here's the thing... I started seeing some incredibly striking similarities between this story and a book that I have loved with all my heart for a long time. I'm not saying this author adopted those details on purpose... it could be a huge coincidence that I was reminded of another book in several major instances while reading Crazy Good. Maybe this author never even read that other book. I have no idea, and I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Mav.
Mav getting a surprise tattoo as a grand romantic gesture to declare his love.
Mav surprising his girl with a puppy.
Mav surprising his girl with a couch.
A random trip to Vegas.

I know those are cliché themes that pop up in an array of books. I get that. It was the way they popped up that struck me as odd. The tattoo and the puppy didn't even make me blink, honestly. It seemed to fit the story just fine and I moved on. I did find it a smidge weird that one chapter ends with the sentence "I'm a walking fucking disaster"... but again, could be a total coincidence. The couch was pretty freaking random, I have to say. I thought it made ZERO sense in this story line. Windsor never expressed a desire for new furniture at any point in this book, but then Maverick decides to buy her a couch as a grand gesture to win her back? Wtf? It was literally thrown in there out of left field and that's when my chin hit the floor. That's when I stopped and started rethinking all those other details that I overlooked before. And then the random trip to Vegas at the end that had no relevance to Maverick and Windsor's story just sealed the deal for me. A trip to the beach, to see dolphins, would have made way more sense.

Way too many similarities. What I don't understand is WHY. This is a BIG IF, like I said, I have no idea if the adoption of those details were intentional or not. I'm just saying IF they were, they were so freaking unnecessary. This story ROCKED on it's own. It was flowing perfectly, it HAD me. The couch, the Vegas trip, even the dog.... they were so unnecessary to this story, I'm just baffled by what made the author think she needed them in this book.

I'm so torn. So so so torn. Yes, the middle section of this book dragged. But I can suck that up. Yes, there's an epic heartbreak in this book, a turning point some reader friends found completely unnecessary. But I understood that too. What I didn't get was the random crap thrown in there that was just all too similar to another story. Even if those details were NOT duplicated, they were still so random and irrelevant to this story line, that they didn't fit either way.

This book made me laugh.
This book made me cry.
This book immersed me in it's pages from the very start.
This book had amazing writing, and showed phenomenal potential on the part of this writer.

So why all the random crap that didn't belong? I have no idea. No idea.

Maverick's wife, Monica... the huge bomb that is dropped in the prologue... Maverick lying about being married was a huge catalyst for the entire story and the course of events that took place... so why was it swept under the rug by the end of the book? Why did ten other random issues trump the epic problem that was Monica? Huge plot inconsistency.

I'm sad. I'm sad the author lost sight of what could have been a fantastic story by throwing in so many random, inconsistent plot changes and scattered her story with "been there, done that" details from other stories. I'm sad that even if this author didn't do that on purpose, her beta readers didn't point out those inconsistencies and unnecessary "borrowed" details. I'm sad that this author didn't believe her writing and original story was good enough to stay true to herself, and instead decided to jump on the train with everything else that's already been done before.

4 Roller Coaster Stars

I’m conflicted with Crazy Good. A good 75% of the read I really enjoyed, but there is a bit where I got really angry and frustrated. I am not sure if I ever recovered from that.

PET PEEVE

I HATE reading the ending in the beginning. You know what I am referencing. It’s that first chapter where you know the relationship goes to crap, and then after that it’s like, rewind 1.5 years and let’s get to the story!

Skip the first chapter if you don’t want to read the ending at the beginning. I wish I did.

Summary

Windsor just got out of a four year relationship with her ex. Her ex cheated on her and she’s trying to recover from that. Maverick is trouble. He’s tough, a player and a major alpha male. Maverick meets Windsor through mutual friends and wants to date Windsor. Windsor doesn’t want a bad boy, she doesn’t want to date anyone, but Maverick won’t accept no as an answer.

My review

The only logical way for me to review Crazy Good is by breaking it up because a lot happens.

The first bit, first 1% I am very angry, because I hate reading the ending, but I’m intrigue to what happened, so of course I continue.

For the first 30%, it’s about Maverick pursuing Windsor and I really enjoyed this part. Windsor is an accountant, (YAY! So am I) and she doesn’t do risky relationships. She’s hurt by her ex and she’s just living her life and trying to move forward. I like it when the leading lady is being pursued. Something about a sexy male pursing the gal gets me all excited.

Of course Maverick is a ladies’ man with tattoos and a bike. He even plays guitar, yeah kind of cheesy, but I kept on going. I really did like Maverick. He was the kind of male I love to read. He’s hot-headed and really interested in Windsor. I wanted him to jump over hoops to get her.

It gets a bit slow between the 31-75% mark. It’s basically about Windsor and Maverick hanging out. There is some nice sexual tension because the sex isn’t right away and I love tension!

At the 76% mark, things change This is when I kind of flip you know what. So we get to the climatic ending and I knew what was going to happen, but then I was kind of slapped in the face with another thing and I was like, WHAT?! WHY?! I kind of got over it, but then Maverick, so help me, became a complete JERK!

I hated the Hero

I know the Hero needed to push her away, but oh my goodness, seriously?! He was mean, the kind where it was unforgivable. I just didn’t understand it and his behavior was just bad.

I tried to get over it and I am not sure if Maverick fully redeems himself, but I did get some nice closure in the end.

As I said, I am conflicted by this read because for the most part, I did like it. I was just really upset with one part.

4.5 Crazy good stars!

Crazy Good is one crazy good book I could not put done until I finished it. It is the first book I read by author Rachel Robinson and she has gotten a new fan in me.

description

This book starts off with a bang. That first chapter left me with an open jaw and I was sold. I just had to find out what would happen next.
Windsor Forbes is a blue-eyed girl who only takes calculated risks, especially after being left at the altar. So when the reckless NAVY Seal Maverick Hart enters her life she tries to point him straight out of it again. Easier said than done, because Maverick is determined to have the only thing he cannot have, Windsor and parts of her certainly wants him too. This is what I will tell you, I do not want to spoil anything.

description

My top list of ♥’s for Crazy Good:
Surprising: Most romance books out there are more or less built on the same recipe. Crazy Good is also built on this, but somehow the author did some twist and turns that felt very refreshing, i.e. the first chapter and the letters, I loved those damn letters.. There is a moment in this book that

Passionate and loving: I loved the chemistry between Maverick and Windsor. Their bantering was really funny and they were so good together. When they finally got together in all ways it was off the charts. But I also love the other relationships in this book. First and foremost, the friendship between Maverick and Stone. I loved every second these two vagina dicks were together. I also loved the marriage between a woman like Morganna and a man like Stone. Those two were hilariously crazy together, but very loving in a crazy way. I hope we get to know more about them in future books.

Maverick Hart: I could fall head over heels in love with a man like Maverick Hart. So damn cocky on the outside, but having the access to his head and seeing the vulnerability and insecurities that lays there was the main reasons for why he became one the top heroes in my books. I loved the all the different sides of him and especially the fact that he all in with everything he does, whether it is in love, friendship or avoidance. And yeah, he is also smoking hot topped with dimples…

...falling in love hurts. Existing in it is bliss.

Crazy Good is a book that took me completely by surprise. I went into this one without ever expecting to like it as much as I ended up doing. This book ends with I cannot wait to read more from this author and I truly hope she plans on continuing this story with This book is definitely worth checking out.

❤ Love is louder than anything else.
It comes before anything else.❤

CRAZY GOOD by Rachel Robinson is a beautiful book about Love, Loss & Second Chances.

One of the reasons I liked it that much is MAVERICK HART. A Sexy Navy Seal covered in tattoos and hot as hell!

**I know, I know, no tatts here..but who cares, right? ;P**

He's the typical man whore, love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy....until he lays his eyes on WINDSOR FORBES. For the first time he's interested in more than just a quick FCUK.

After being left at the altar by her cheating fiancée the last thing WINDSOR FORBES wants is to fall in love again. All she wants from MAVERICK is some "amazing barbarian sex" and nothing more ...at first.

As time goes by, WINDSOR finds herself falling for MAVERICK pretty hard. But because of what happened to her in the past, she's afraid to express how she really feels for him.
MAVERICK wants to show her how serious he is about their relationship and decides to "take it slow".

That's the only thing I didn't like. It was a little too slow for my taste. But that's just my personal PERVY opinion ;)
Of course there's some drama happening and some "RIGHT IN THE FEELS" moments, which I loved.

All in all, this was a solid 4 ★★★★ read for me!

Ooooh!! A Navy SEAL romance!! This I must read ;)

Before there were bikers, or fighters, or even good old-fashioned jerks, there were Navy SEALs. They put the bad in badass because, well…it’s their job.

Navy SEAL Maverick Hart has everything. Women want him. Grown men idolize him. Little boys want to grow up and be like him. The job, the glory—it’s all his. Not because it’s handed to him…because he works hard for it. The second his sights lock on something, he owns it—or destroys it. Unfortunately he does both at the same time.

Windsor Forbes only takes calculated risks in her profession and in her personal life. After being left at the altar by the only person she’s ever loved, the very last thing she’s looking for is a relationship—especially the insane brand an arrogant Navy SEAL is offering.

It started off as a challenge for womanizer navy SEAL Maverick. But as he grows closer to Winsor, will his past and present survive the relationship?

It wasnt 5 stars because I wasnt sure of this couple to begin with. I have to admit at one point they were lovey dovey sickly sweet.

But the last 30% was where the book truly shined. The angst was hurting my heart and I kinda wanted it to last longer.

Overall this was one of those books that grew on me. It was hot sweet and a bit heartbreaking all wrapped in one. Ienjoyed it.

Too immature for me. The characters were 30, yet their behavior was much more along the lines of college level. Read like a bad NA book with a Navy Seal. My 23 year old son, in the Air Force, is much more mature than this Maverick dude.

2,5 💔🤔🌟s

I started reading this amazing story and I was thinking of giving it more than 4 stars. But as I kept reading, I was so let down and I struggled to reach the last page...

Maverick and Windsor were an intriguing couple, both of them carrying their own baggage. Their sexual chemistry and attraction were the ones you indeed read in books! Sparkling and explosive!!!

When their personality traits and behaviours fully unraveled, my first positive assessment came almost to an end and my interest for their future was diminished. I just stopped caring.

Overall, there were plenty dragging scenes, the pace for the most part was slow, the development was not sufficient, too much drama and all this continuing push ana pull became tiring.

Also, although the first chapter was a fabulous decoy to lure the reader, unfortunately it was a side plot of the story’s core.

The epilogue though was amazing but could not make up for the whole story.

Ahhh, where to begin with this beautiful, heart stopping, roller coaster riding of a story.

Let`s begin with our cast members

Maverick (Navy Seal & Stone`s Best friend/brother)

Windsor (Mav`s love interest & Morganna`s Best friend)

One of my favorite things about this story was the relationship between Maverick & Stone; you don`t have to have a blood relation to be family.

 photo inarms_zpsffec1f44.jpg

This story had IT ALL!!

Romance, drama, sweet & tender as well as hot & steamy moments,
 photo biting_zpsfe46d4c9.jpg
angst and definitely tearful moments that WILL have you glued to this story.
 photo cry_zps7b9f3e59.gif

To sum up my thoughts, here are some of my favorite quotes:

Crazy people perish for love. Good people live for it.

Love doesn’t die. No matter how many bullets you put in it.

Its second and third chances, it`s new beginnings.

Charles Bukowski once said, `find what you love and let it kill you.` I say, `Rise from the ashes and take it back.`

My emotions went through the ringer while reading this. There were moments that I wanted to throttle both Mav & Win, but everything happens for a reason right.

Rachel (the author) wrote this beautiful story that takes you on a journey of opening up your heart to things you knew were dangerous but also to things that you knew you had no control over.

It`s about giving second chances, not only to someone else, but first and foremost to yourself.

I won`t go into detail about what happens, because I don`t want to put in any spoilers (sorry), you`ll just have to read it yourself.
I gave quite a few status updates while I was reading because this story just had me eager to post what I was feeling at the moment ;D

4.5 "You're everything" stars!!!

I loved it! I read the prologue and I was gripped.

"Take a chance, Win. Always. Always. Always take the fucking chance." -Maverick

"He's a risk worth taking." -Windsor

This is a kind of story that stays with you.

And oh, I cried hard. As in-ugly-cry-in-the-middle-of-the-night-I-went-to-work-with-puffy-eyes-the-next-day-cry.

Whew! But you know what? It was worth it!
