John Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia, hoping to be a writer. It wasn't until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior executive at the agency where he worked, however, that his talent was revealed. It turned out one of the company directors agreed with John's assessment of the executive, and happily agreed to train John in copywriting.

After writing advertising copy for the next two decades, John teamed with an old friend to develop a television sitcom, Hey Dad!, which went on to air for eight years.

John began writing Ranger's Apprentice for his son, Michael, ten years ago, and is still hard at work on the series.

He currently lives in a suburb of Manly, Australia, with his wife. In addition to their son, they have two grown daughters and four grandsons.

Do you like action? Do you like mystery? How about ninjas? If you like those things I definently recommend this book. Cassasndra is pretty ann'oying at first but afterwards she takes charge of the situation. This is an action packed book full of new discoveries for our freinds Will, Horace, Cassandra, Halt, Gilan, and more. The reason I re commend this book is because I would like more people to read this series and become supporters so that some movie making companie will make a movie about the book. I really like this book because I found that the charachters have relatable problems and are handeling them way better than I do, so I take tips of of them and it helps me. Plus the book is funny and it's a great page turner usually it takes me one sitting to read one of the books from this series because I just can't put it down. At the end of each chapter theres an new cliffhanger each more intense than the last.

I loved this book, it was the best one so far in the series. I loved the plot and how it went from Halt, Will, Evalyn, and Horace just thinking that the group of guys were a scouting party. All the way to finding out that they were part of a massive invasion plan of Skandia. Also the fact that the Skandians decided to team up with Will and all of them.

Another great characteristic about this book is the fact that it left you with a cliff hangar in the last sentence of the last chapter. Since John Flanagan (The Author) decided to do this it made you want to keep reading and reading. This was the most thrilling and suspenseful out of the 4 so far. Just because of the fact that it changed to the perspective of the Temujai army commanders and what they were talking about. Also what was going through their mind.
