Tawfiq al-Hakim or Tawfik el-Hakim (Arabic: توفيق الحكيم‎ Tawfīq al-Ḥakīm) was a prominent Egyptian writer. He is one of the pioneers of the Arabic novel and drama. He was the son of an Egyptian wealthy judge and a Turkish mother. The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of communication to Egyptian society.

لا تقل لا.. ولكن ولا تكن حمارا.. ان عناد الحمير وصلابة رؤوسها لا تنفع في السياسة، اليوم كل شئ لين مرن.. لافي المبادئ وحدها.. بل في كل شئ.. وعند كل الناس.

من المثير للشفقة أن تكون معظم المقالات في الكتاب قد كتبت قبيل 1948 ولازلنا نشكو من نفس الداء وما يزداد بنا العمر طولا إلا وتزداد العلة.
في هذا الكتاب رصد لحال الفساد الذي ينهش جسد البلد ومحاورة هادئة للوصول إلى حلول..
ومناقشة سلوك الانسان عن طريق محاورة حماره..
يقول نيتشه: الإنسان أخطر حيوان.

رغم قدم هذه المقالات الا انها جسدت العديد من الامور التى مر بها مجتمعنا ولازال
