This was quite a slow volume. That slice of life part at the beginning dragged on and wasn't particularly funny. The magic on display was very unique, and Freyja was weird. That ending was a setup for one of the most amazing things I have ever read.

Initially, with a narrative that reaffirmed Kamijou Touma's misfortunes, we were already thrown into various comic situations that got me some good laughs and gave me a nostalgic feeling of Touma's comic misfortune that didn't appear so often anymore (probably because of the more serious course of the arcs).

As the entrance to one of Index's best arches, expect Gremnlin to make a triumphant entrance and consequently, the entrance to Norse mythology.

Indeed, I was impressed by the use of magic in this volume. It is no longer just a logical analysis of mythology, but a poetic interpretation, inflicting on its own world, which ends up lavishing good creativity and originality (even if on paper, it draws inspiration from Nordic culture). Sure, sometimes the script will play out in a bizarre but still somehow logical way.

The most notable part of the volume is probably the narrative exchange... For comparative terms, it's something similar to NT2 that mixed comic scenes with the connection of key pieces to the solution of the mystery, while, not to leave the reader bored, the narrative is divided into two types of mysteries, passive and active. The passive mystery comes down to discussions about the mystery while the active one is the mystery being put into practice, but in the end both types of mysteries will yield the same resolution.

Of course, the narrative is remarkable, but it can be said that it hides its own misfortune by its pretentious proposition in world terms....... It's like a food that was at the top of your preferences, but after eating it over and over again, what was once an explosion of new experiences becomes just something boring that only serves to inflate the contents of your stomach. I believe the same can be said for the narrative.

Kamachii subjects his work to various types of perspectives in the course of a disaster, which at first is a good idea, but its use has not been so well applied.... Even though the texts are still rich in writing, full of metaphors and metonymies, cutting several key moments over and over again ends up loosening your heart from the ropes woven with the rough threads of feelings, which is quite disappointing (Well, the political games were VERY interesting).

In short, the exchanges of narratives look like a teacher sending an intelligent student to write about 5 essays in 2 days, which even though still contains a certain creativity due to the student's malice, due to friction with time and mental fatigue, the texts end up being a bit boring and tedious.
Fortunately, unlike some other works that start a subplot and don't finish it, Index does her homework correctly, like a dedicated student doing her homework (some fights just started without a real ending, but the usage was obvious. .. The author just wanted to show some other types of magic, without really ending it, but it's not like this is important as the resolution wouldn't change because of the final events).

Finally, I would give 4 stars to this volume, but the last chapter in conjunction with the epilogue made me change my mind. I feel that in the 5th essay the student drank a glass of water, relaxed and decided to use his brain as much as possible to create a great text. Of course, probably because of the time limit, the student couldn't write everything he wanted, and that's probably why the teacher felt that his conclusion was rushed, but he still praised him a lot for his effort and power, which led me to give 5 stars for this volume.

I expect great things from the next 2 volumes.... Seriously, the end of this volume, even though it was rushed, was really nerve-racking, really great writing.
