Dainty Louise by Hope Engel is an endearing picture book of significant sentimental value. This book will resonate with parents everywhere who watch their babies grow into toddlers and young children. Lousie's parents, like so many other parents, attempt to provide their daughter with everything she needs while structuring her pathway through childhood in a manner which will guide her to grow into the type of young person they expect and hope for her to become. Her parents encourage her to take up ballet, piano, and art. Louise is expected to embrace the color of pink and all of its prim characteristics. Yet, Louise has another route in mind. Louise secretly loves the color blue and seems to be unhappy with all of the hobbies and pastimes that her parents attribute and expect for her. Ultimately, Dainty Louise decides that she loves playing the drums and proves to be quite talented at it.

Dainty Louise is an example for a girl's childhood and the many nuances of personality development and character growth. She loves her parents yet is determined to become her own unique self. Thankfully, Lousie discovers that family and community are more accepting and encouraging of her nuances and individuality than anyone might suspect.

Dainty Louise by Hope Gorecki is a charming and heartfelt picture book that beautifully captures the spirit of embracing one’s individuality. Louise, the little protagonist, isn't your typical dainty girl. She's full of spunk, energy, and a love for adventure, showing young readers that it's okay to be different and that you can still be your true self while wearing a pretty dress.

The story is filled with humor and warmth as Louise faces the pressures of fitting into the "dainty" mold, but ultimately learns to celebrate her unique personality. The message of self-acceptance and staying true to oneself is presented in a way that's accessible and engaging for children, making it a great conversation starter for parents and educators.

Gorecki’s playful language and lighthearted tone make this a delightful read, while the whimsical illustrations complement the story, bringing Louise's world to life in a vibrant and imaginative way. Dainty Louise is a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf, encouraging readers to embrace their differences and be proud of who they are.

DAINTY LOUISE is a book about the abilities that make us each different.
It is a story about the freedom to choose a life path that is meaningful and satisfactory.
The narrative is simple although it is inspiring to read a title about a character who goes after her goals.
The publication is not a stroke of genius but the author/illustrator team shows the beauty of being unique and the benefits kids experience when they follow their dreams.
DAINTY LOUSE offers a valuable lesson that children can learn from: dream big and pursue your passion.
The book also contains a message for parents: take your child's dream seriously and believe in it...

Dainty Louise is a captivating story that teaches children the importance of embracing your true self and following your dreams-however different they may be.

Dainty is different, she doesn't like the colour pink or wearing her hair in bows. She feels out of place and feels upset she isn't meeting other peoples expectations. Finally, she finds something she loves to do and finds her own way to shine.

Lovely story, teaching children (and adults) the importance of not following gender stereotypes.

This is a beautiful story about a kid. It doesn't follow the traditional gender stereotypes.
Louise wants to be a good girl. She does everything her parents expect of her. However, she doesn't like the piano, and she doesn't like the colour pink, a gender stereotype colour. So what does she like? Does she find out, and can she do it? The book has a good rhythm with wonderful illustrations. It has a good powerful message for children.

The author provided me with a pdf copy for a free review.

The charming cover immediately grabbed my attention, and the story itself was captivating! I appreciated how the author highlighted that even though Louise had different interests from her parents, teachers, and friends, she stayed courteous and gave her utmost effort. Once she discovered her own path, she pursued it with determination... The rhyming narrative and stunning illustrations undoubtedly enrich the reading experience, making this an uplifting book for all.

A great reinforcement to a child's true path!

This was such a refreshing way to let a child know it is a good thing to follow their dreams. My child was so much like Dainty Louise. I wish I had a book like this back then to read to them and help with the confidence they needed to be who they truly are. A great read and the illustrations are adorable.

Cute story about not following gender stereotypes
Louise wants to be a good girl and do everything that her parents want her to do but she does not like the piano and she does not like the colour pink either. What does she like? Does she find it out and can she do it?
Lovely rhythmic lines and neat illustrations and good powerful message for older children.

Dainty Louise is the story of a little girl who was supposed to like pink, piano, violin, and so many other things. Truth is she doesn't like pink and loves blue. A great read to get out of the box and find out what you really want to do and be who you want to be.
Great illustrations and a great lesson for us all-follow your heart.

When Louise was born expectations were high. From dainty dresses and bows, to playing piano and loving the color pink. But the child we expect is never the child we get. Louise is girl who likes to make a mess and paint and play drums and her favorite color is blue of course. A cute story told in verse and a great one for every little girl's bookshelf.

Enjoyable with a good message

I found the book delightfully readable and I enjoyed reading it. Suitable for all ages, although the message would probably be appreciated most by those, say from eight to their teens? On a Kindle the print is perhaps a little small.

Wonderful little story that shows kids it's o.k. to be yourself...to like and dislike. I am a music teacher and believe me, I've seen this very story played out before my eyes!
The illustrations were some of the best I've seen. I might have given this book a different title, but I loved it!
