Sometimes all it takes to change our lives is a single, impactful sentence. We live in our own stories, perhaps hidden from reality by our perceptions. The story changes over time and, with it, the core of who and what we are. No matter which direction we travel, we are the architects of our true selves and we alone are capable of creating those beautiful narratives others will find hope and inspiration from. Finding Beauty In and Out is a journey through discovery. Filled with unique insight and a lifetime of experience, this book shines a light on what truly makes us special. It is through this journey we all come to understand the hidden truths of who we are. The argument whether we are born with our true self or blossom through experience plays out in each chapter as we explore the various interactions and pivotal moments shaping our future. We all desire authenticity, accessing it takes time, patience, and understanding as we continue growing and developing. However you find your confidence, it soon becomes evident in your everyday tasks. Are you prepared to take that next step and discover your true self?
Author, Cleanness Johnson, not only tells us her story and battles with self confidence, she lays out a beautiful story behind her, “Overcoming Fear, finding self love and being true to yourself” in this book! It’s disheartening to know that people, ‘see the color of a color of skin and make terrible comments’, especially to children! And the author lived her life in this shadow for years, until she broke free! One of my favorite lines the author wrote, “It took me a long time to shape the mug upon my pottery wheel”.
Self esteem can be negatively affected by the people around us, the environment and culture. The author shares personal experience of how she viewed herself in a negative way, not liking herself that much, until a stranger told her she is beautiful.
The book can bring healing to those who have been hurt by people.
She advises one to do positive affirmations until the words settle within.
This book has touched me in ways I had no idea. It is so powerful. I have been surrounded by negativity at work, at home and throughout my schooling. I didn’t realize how much it affected me. I found the quotes at the start of the chapters great lead ins to what would follow. This book connected with me and I recommend it for those looking to find ways to feel better about yourself.
