When thieves steal the trawler Gypsy from a Florida marina, they don’t just take a boat—they steal the retirement dreams of an elderly couple who happen to be close friends of Sean O’Brien. Tracking the vessel beyond U.S. waters and toward the Bahamas, Sean enters a lawless world of international boat theft, corruption, and modern-day piracy.
Out on the open sea, with no backup and no rules, the thieves soon realize they picked the wrong boat because the right man is coming to get it.

I was glad to see that Tom Lowe's Sean O'Brien novels have returned to the formula that has worked so well. The ensemble cast at the marina, a Florida-based storyline, and plenty of action. A large motor yacht is stolen from the slip next to Sean's and the older couple are devastated. Sean's offer to help builds into a group effort by Dave, Nick, Sean and others to recover the boat. Highly recommended.
Tom Lowe never disappoints. His latest Sean O'Brien novel includes a series of frightening events, which are very plausible. A well loved yacht is stolen from the marina where Sean and his friends are very close. The owner tries to track the boat and tragedy results. Sean has been consulted to help find the boat. In the interim, his family is attacked in a parking lot and rescued just in time by Sean. Circumstances indicated that the two incidences are related to an evil racket taking place in Florida and the Bahamas. Sex trafficking is also involved. Coast Guard assistance and other goverment aid is not available past the 12 mile limit. With the aid of his friends, past military acquaintences and FBI workers, the mystery is solved. Results are sad, but Sean and his crew right many wrongs.
Thank you Tom for taking us on a very suspenseful and heartbreaking journey, I kept praying that Ben wouldn’t die. Thank you for allowing us to feel the wind on our faces while on Sean’s dock or out at sea, for hearing the sea gulls, and smelling the flowers. As I read about Sean, Wynona, Nick and Dave I am right there with them, and for that I thank you. Oh, we can’t forget Angela, Connor and last but not least Miss Max. I look forward to Sean’s next case 🫶
Having spent many winters in the Daytona Beach area, I enjoyed this book so much!!! I felt like I was back there in person experiencing the wonderful descriptions of the local areas and pounce inlet and Marina. Deland and the river ways were so real with all the wildlife descriptions too. Thanks to Tom for a great book that I couldn’t put down. Exciting story too and full of current times going on.
I loved reading this book! It was a long wait between books, but I am so glad Tom Lowe is still writing. I love the characters especially, and the stories as well. I am looking forward to the next Sean O'Brien adventure! Please keep them coming! next Sean O'Brien advr
The story tells of the ongoing evil of society and its multi armed reaches. The Lone Ranger may not be real nor Sean but there are some who stand against the demonic forces and encourage us, the readers, with their fight. Fight the good fight
Tom Lowe never disappoints. GYPSY TEARS had me from the start. I love following the same characters in his books. I feel I know Sean, his wife, kids, Dave and Nick...and of course, Miss Max. Living in Florida, I love that I know the places he goes for the story. Anxiously await further novels!
I really enjoyed this book. As always fast paced and interesting. Spoiler alert…. My only wish would be that Sean saved the protagonist. He always finds justice, however, usually after the death of the character.
Reflects today's problems with illegal immigration and the evil people in human trafficking. Shows how affects people not who crime against but people innocent victim a yard
I always enjoy coming back to one of Tom Lowe's books. As with any of the books in this series of Sean O'Brien. This was another exceptional good book. And as always Sean got the bad guys!
Good story but the coincidence of the attempted robery in the mall parking lot with the boat theft detracted from the story. Why not let Winona break an arm and defend herself, she has the background.
