I received an ARC from the author, but this review is my own.
Even though this is book 18, it can be read as a standalone, I had no trouble following the story and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by not having read the previous books.
I love how much Egyptian mythology has gone into this book. It really makes the story feel real. It's really well written with a dash of adventure and a bit of romance, I enjoyed this book so much that I'm planning to go back to read the other books of this series.

This series reminds me of my childhood fascination with Egyptian mythology, and any time I pick up one of these books, I get that same feeling of excitement I got when I opened the shiny gold Egyptology book.

This book follows Iabet as she is called back to perform her duties after neglecting them for several centuries. As she regains her footing, she starts to fall for Kephri while also trying to figure out why her sacred items are going missing.

Laura Greenwood does such a great job at writing short books. Everything gets wrapped up in a timely manner, from the conflict to the romance, and it makes her books such easy reads. Goddess of the East was no exception, and while it wasn't my favorite in the series, I still really enjoyed it!

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC!

Sweet romance!

Trouble in the afterlife send Iabet to her temple in the desert to resume her duty to purify the sun God each morning. She is prepared for Ra but instead Khepri appears for the ceremony. They have always gotten along in the past but this time it feels different. More intimate. Iabet enjoys their time together but in the back of her mind she senses something off in her temple.

This is an enjoyable romance. Some romance. Some drama. It’s amazing what I learn about the gods of Egypt, in addition to the fictional storyline. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Looking for a quick, sassy dive into the world of Egyptian mythology with a side of romance? Goddess of the East by Laura Greenwood delivers just that! If you’ve read anything from her Forgotten Gods series, you already know the drill: cozy mystery, light-hearted vibes, and a little cheeky fun. This time, book #18 brings us Iabet and Khepri, who reunite after centuries apart to tackle some stolen sacred objects and, of course, rekindle that undeniable spark.

Packed with mythological drama, humor, and just the right touch of romance, Goddess of the East is exactly the kind of fun, breezy read you need.

As a mostly forgotten, minor goddess, Iabet has been neglecting her duties of purifying the sun every morning. Called to task by Osiris, Iabet returns to her temple. Expecting sun god Ra, she is pleasantly surprised to find Khepri, god of the rising sun, instead. As they meet daily to perform the ritual, they find themselves drawn to each other. When things start going missing in the temple, Khepri helps Iabet track down the thief.

Laura Greenwood draws on the rich tapestry of Egyptian mythology to create her Forgotten Gods series. In modern times, the gods still exist, but are no longer revered as they were. Stand-alone stories following these gods and goddesses as they continue their existence. This love story between Iabet and Khepri is sweet with just a touch of open door spice. The mystery adds to the tension in this quick and intriguing read. A perfect escape for fans of mythology. I enjoy seeing how Ms. Greenwood brings these forgotten gods back to life.

Goddess Of The East (Forgotten Gods #18) by Laura Greenwood is an Egyptian mythology book with a dash of romance. I adore these books by Laura Greenwood. They are so fresh and unique. For me they are a fresh change from the darker books I usually read. The way they mix fiction with real mythology is fascinating.

This tale is about iabet. She is a lesser goddess and is known as the cleanser of the sun (cleanser of ra). She is basically told there is trouble and to pay more attention to her duties. This caused her and Khepri to grow closer.

There is something really special about these books.

Forgotten Egyptian Gods #18

Iabet is called to see Osiris and reminded of her duties to purify the sun before it rises. She's nervous as she hasn't done it for too long and she'd have to face the sun god Ra who was often in a foul mood. But when she finds that it's Khepri who will be visiting daily, she realises that she might not mind her duties as much; particularly as they find themselves getting closer.

But there are also disturbances in the afterlife causing concern and Iabet realises that items have been stolen from her dessert temple. Can she work with Khepri to set a trap to stop the thief?

The characters are well written with focus on the ancient Egyptians celebration of life, death, and in this the rising sun, as well as a light romance. It’s fun and interesting to read about the different elements of Egyptian customs and mythology and I look forward to reading stories about the other Gods and Goddesses. Can be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't read any of the other books in the series before this one but it worked fine as a standalone. It has a good female lead character who is a desert Goddess. She has to perform purification magic rituals which was interesting to read about. There is a little mystery to be solved and the romance is good. I think if you are into Egyptology you will enjoy this book . There are lots of different Gods and Goddesses included in the story . There is an illustration which was nice .

Iabet, the Goddess of the East, has been neglecting her duties of purifying the God of the Rising Sun for centuries. Osiris, the God of the Afterlife, tells her she has to do her job. On the very first day, at dawn, Khepri shows up instead of Ra. What a lucky turn of events! This quick read is filled with romance and includes a hint of steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

Purify the Sun

Neglecting her duty to purify the sun god has left Labet's temple vulnerable. Upon returning to her duties, she comes across someone else that ignites a fire inside her. Together their chemistry is electric which made this an even more enjoyable read. I really enjoyed how this story was written and the development of the characters throughout the storyline.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.

Love Laura’s Forgotten Gods series. As each features a different couple, you can read them as standalones but they are better read in order as there are background storylines. Iabet has been neglecting her duties of purifying the morning sun and Osiris requests she start fulfilling them again. As she performs the ritual each morning, she grows closer to the god of the rising sun and discovers a thief in her temple.

Labet has been neglecting her duty to purify the sun, but when she returns to her desert temple, she finds so much more. Khepri is the God of the rising sun; the more time he and Labet spend together, the closer they get. This is an enjoyable romance with an Egyptian mythology twist. The writing is well done, the characters are well developed and Goddess of the East is a great addition to the Forgotten Gods series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Just like many of the gods, Iabet has not been performing her duties. When asked to help with an issue in the underworld, she restarts her duties.

What I enjoyed most about this storyline is how Iabet realizes how much she actually enjoyed her role. After not purifying the sun for sometime, coming back to perform the ritual, she feels different, something I can relate to. There is also a mystery taking place in her temple and of course she love with a coworker.

In this story introduced to Iabet and get to know her. But not everything goes smoothly for Goddesses and Iabet finds this out the hard way with some trouble. But there is a handy cute God around to make the story cute and fun. I thought it was a cute and entertaining and easy read. Loved the Egyptian feel and the fun among the trouble for Iabet.

Iabet returns to her duties after many years away from her temple. During her daily rituals of sun purification, she notices her feelings have changed towards another God. Whilst returning to her temple, she realises many items had gone missing. So, setting a trap to find the culprit. This is book 18 in the series but can be read as a standalome. A great read. I love the mythology.

Iabet and Khepri's story is told in this installment in the series. After resuming their godly duties after many years of absence, these two old friends grow even closer. I really enjoyed the addition of the mystery aspect to this story, and how it showcased the way to deal with "employees". A little bit of steam, a little bit of mystery, and a lot of growing feelings made this read a delight.

Lax leaders set a bad example
When people don’t take their responsibilities seriously, they are literally teaching others to also disregard them. Then the leaders lose their followers’ respect. At some point, more people shirk their duties and resort to neglect, vandalism, and theft.

While this is a work of fiction, the author calls out something the world needs more of – pride in our work (community, family, employment, volunteering, etc.).

Looking forward to the next couple’s tale in the upcoming ‘Reunion Of The Jackals’ (expected in early November).

This book delivers exactly what it promises - a romance between two forgotten gods. Iabet, who is charged with purifying the sun god, and Khepri, one of the available sun gods, are drawn back together when she is kindly reminded to return to her duties. I always enjoy learning something when I read fantasy, so the Egyptian mythology peppered throughout the story adds to the enjoyment. There is also some added drama in the form of things being stolen from the temple. Overall, it's a quick, easy read, and it's a sweet romance story.

GODDESS OF THE EAST is the eighteenth installment in the Forgotten Gods series by Laura Greenwood. This is a series of individual stories of Egyptian God's and Goddesses. There were over 2,000 dieties in the Egyptian pantheon and this is the story of Iabet, a lesser goddess known as "Cleanser of Ra".

Osiris has called Iabet to his presence and tells her that there are troubles in the afterlife and she needs to be more diligent in her duties and report anything strange. As Iabet has been neglecting her temple duties, she quickly returns to her and takes up her duties. The next morning instead of Ra, a lesser god Khepri appears. As she performs the ritual each morning with Khepri, they grow closer and closer to each other.

This was a nice short story of a growing romance with a little steam. I recommend this story to anyone interested in Egyption culture and rituals with some romance thrown in.
