4.5 smut-scale stars!
Hot shot was the perfect combination of heat and heart and I fell in love with Max and Charlotte’s meet cute. A reverse age gap romance with a surprise pregnancy that didn’t make me want to roll my eyes! It just felt real and pure.
Max was your quintessential cinnamon roll hero with a filthy mouth in the bedroom that would make any woman swoon.
He was dependable and loyal in the best ways. Steadfast in his convictions, he gave Charlotte unwavering support and never let her doubt the love he felt for her.
Charlotte was a wonderfully written heroine that I think will resonate with a lot of people. She’s been hurt in the past and while that trauma doesn’t always stay in the past, she does her best to move forward. Charlotte was kind, uniquely perceptive and owned up to her mistakes and cherished her successes.
Hot Shot may have been a short novella with plenty of smutty goodness but Kat Baxter also flawlessly integrated a heartwarming story about two people meeting each other, finding each other again (you’ll have to read to find out what I mean) and falling in love and sticking together even when it wasn’t sunshine and rainbows.
Kudos to the author for writing such a cute love story that didn’t feel recycled and repetitive! I loved the secondary characters and can’t wait for what’s next.

Kat Baxter always delivers the sweetest novellettes. I enjoyed Max and Charlotte's story. I'm always down for a surprise pregnancy. This was a great palate cleanser. However, there were 2 inaccuracies that really bothered me. Her brother couldn't possibly be both the Captain and the goalie of the team, that hasn't been allowed in hockey since 1948. The other was related to the pregnancy. It was distracting during those parts because it was so inaccurate I couldn't focus on anything else. Other than that, the story was the typical delight you'd expect from Ms. Baxter.

Her laugh first caught his attention, but it didn't take him long to realize that she was his everything!
Max Coleman is the newest defensive player on the Texas Tornadoes hockey team. He was waiting in the DFW airport due to a delayed flight when he heard her laughter. Her curves caught his attention, but her dimples sealed the deal for him. He's well on his way to love. His parents died when he was young, so he doesn't really remember them. His older sisters raised him and often told him his parents' love story. They knew each other for one week before becoming engaged. His sisters also quickly fell in love when they met their matches.
From the onset, he knew there was an age difference between Charlotte and himself. The nine-year difference in age doesn't matter to him; it does to her.
Charlotte was in Dallas for her job. She'd been online dating a man who lives in Dallas while she lives in Austin. They were to meet at an airport bar for their first face-to-face encounter. However, he seems to have stood her up. When Max approached her table, at first she thought her no-show date, Brian, had sent him. She can't believe that anyone as fantastic looking at him could ever be interested in someone like her. She's confident in her looks, but he's waaay out of her league!
After his flight is canceled and she sees him bedding down on the floor in the airport, she offers to share her hotel room. The next day, they parted without exchanging any information other than their first names.

I enjoyed this book so much! Kat Baxter’s books always make me smile. I said it about Landry in the Gruff Loner’s Bargain but I think Max in this book may be my new favorite MMC. He’s so sweet and thoughtful. He knows what he wants and goes after it! I loved reading his and Charlotte’s story. The reverse age gap isn’t usually my favorite but these two were perfect for each other. Would definitely recommend this book to others.

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Max and Charlotte met when they are both at Dallas airport and their plane gets delayed because of weather. Max's hears Charlotte talking and knows he has to met her, when he finds her talking he can't see her face, but knows she's his. Max goes to talk to Charlotte but soon realizes she's waiting for someone. When Charlotte tells Max that her date is late he offers to stand in for him. Max and Charlotte start talking and she soon realizes how much younger he is, but he tells her age is just a number. Max and Charlotte continue to talk and they have more in common. Max goes to check on his flight and finds out that his flight is grounded and he's stuck at the airport. Max gets a different flight for the next day and finds a quiet spot. Then Charlotte comes and finds Max, she tells him she knows he'll be stuck at the airport all night so she invites him back to her room. When they get back to Charlotte's room, Max realizes this may have been a bad idea, her scent lingers in the room. Max tells her that he's trying to be a gentleman but he's been hard as a pipe for her since he laid eyes on her. Max tells her he doesn't want to take advantage of her kindness, so maybe he should head back to the airport. Charlotte takes off her shirt, and closes the distance between them. Max asks her what does this mean, and Charlotte starts to kiss him. Max pleasures Charlotte then they make love. Six weeks later, Charlotte heads to the doctors she thinks she's going into early menopause but finds out she's pregnant. Charlotte goes to met her brother Brendan and sister Chelsea for dinner and tells them. When her brother and sister asks about the father, she tells them she doesn't have a way to get a hold of him, they only exchanged first names. Max heads back home to Saddle Creek to spend time with his sisters, Shelby Redeem My Heart and Luna Banging the Drummer. When Max fills his sister in on Charlotte but that they didn't exchange any other information, they tell him if she's truly his he'll find her. Four months later, Charlotte and her sister Chelsea head to the hockey ring to watch their brother practice. Charlotte and Chelsea head to the tunnel to wait for Brendan. While Charlotte is waiting she spots a head of familiar hair, then she realizes it's Max. When Max sees Charlotte he drops his gear and picks her up then kisses her. When Charlotte's brother Brendan come he asks him what he's doing with his sister. Charlotte tells her brother not now, Max asks her for her phone. When Charlotte gives it to him he puts his phone number in. Charlotte's brother tells Max to get in the locker room, after he leaves her brother turns to her. Charlotte asks him not to do this right now, but he leans into her and asks her if Max is the father. Charlotte's brother asks her if she's knewn he was on his team, she tells him she didn't. When the doctor comes in he asks if Max is the father, and he tells him he is. Max finds out that Charlotte has a high risk pregnancy, but is taking care of herself. They find out everything is alright with the baby and they're having a boy. Max then takes Charlotte out for lunch, then she tells him she needs to ask him something. Charlotte asks Max if he'll move in with her, she has an extra bedroom he could use that way he'll be more involved. Max tells her it sounds great, then insists on paying for lunch. Max tells her he wanted to asks her something also, then he sets a ring on the table, he tells her he knows she's not ready yet, so he'll give her time because he wants her to say yes. Max tells Brendan he'd do anything for her, he's in love with her. Max confesses that he knows Charlotte isn't in the same place emotionally as he is. Brendan tells Max about Charlotte's marriage and how it messed her up. Brendan realizes Charlotte never told Max, and then apologies. Max heads home to work it out with Charlotte. Charlotte tells him she wants to explain, but Max shakes his head and tells her he can't do this right now. Max leaves, and Charlotte realizes she messed up. Charlotte calls her sister, Chelsea and tells her what happened. Charlotte hangs up with her sister after she realizes she loves Max. Charlotte calls her brother to asks him where Max would go, she then gets ready and heads to the rink. When Charlotte arrives she finds Max on the ice when he sees her he skates over to her. They sit on the bench and Charlotte tells him, about her ex-husband. She tells him his heart is the most beautiful thing about him, her doubts are about her. Charlotte tells him she's sorry she ruined things between them, and asks him to give her another chance. Max tells her they only had a fight, she didn't lose him, they didn't break up, they had a disagreement and he needed to blow off some steam. Max tells her he's still in this, he's not going to walk off because of a disagreement. Charlotte tells him she loves him, and she's sorry she broke his heart today. Max tells her he loves her and she's everything to him. Max's heart is so full he might burst, Charlotte asks him about the important question he was going to asks her a few weeks ago. Max digs the ring out of his pocket, and tells her he's been carrying it in his pocket ever since. Charlotte calls her sister, Chelsea and tells her what happened. Charlotte hangs up with her sister after she realizes she loves Max. Charlotte calls her brother to asks him where Max would go, she then gets ready and heads to the rink. When Charlotte arrives she finds Max on the ice when he sees her he skates over to her. They sit on the bench and Charlotte tells him, about her ex-husband. She tells him his heart is the most beautiful thing about him, her doubts are about her. Charlotte tells him she's sorry she ruined things between them, and asks him to give her another chance. Max tells her they only had a fight, she didn't lose him, they didn't break up, they had a disagreement and he needed to blow off some steam. Max tells her he's still in this, he's not going to walk off because of a disagreement. Charlotte tells him she loves him, and she's sorry she broke his heart today. Max tells her he loves her and she's everything to him. Max's heart is so full he might burst, Charlotte asks him about the important question he was going to asks her a few weeks ago. Max digs the ring out of his pocket, and tells her he's been carrying it in his pocket ever since. A few months later, they head to Saddle Creek, and Charlotte mets Max's sisters and brother's in laws. Max is happy Charlotte fits right in with his sisters.

Charlotte was supposed to be meeting someone she talked to online at the airport but while she was waiting, someone else spotted her sitting alone. Whoever was supposed to meet her will be his loss and Max gain. He approached her and started talking and flirting. Then Max got a text saying all flights were grounded, so he decided to just stay there and wait on the floor with the rest of everyone else waiting for a flight. Then he heard Charlotte ask him to come back to her hotel room. It was just for the night what harm could it be.
Max was younger then Charlotte but that didn't matter to him age was just a number. There was chemistry between them that much they both knew.
Once back at the hotel Max told her he might not be able to keep his hands off of her since he thought she was sexy as hell. Charlottedidn't want him to either. They had a great time together. Then the unthinkable happened, Charlotte found out she was regnant. Without knowing Max last name she may never be able to tell him he was going to be a dad. Then the strangest thing happened while she was watching her brother and his hockey team practice, she saw Max. He was on her brothers hockey team. Max was surprised to see her there. When all flights our are canceled due to the weather she offers him the couch in her hotel room. To give you an idea of how well that worked out six weeks later Charlotte learns she’s pregnant and not going through early menopause as she thought. She has no way to tell Max since they didn’t exchange numbers. Four months later she’s at one of her brother’s practices and sees Max. He’s on her brother’s team! Max is thrilled to see Charlotte as he missed her so much. This time he gets her number. She invites him to her house and tells him about the baby. Max is excited to say the least. When they have lunch the next day Max is prepared to ask Charlotte to marry him but, she beats him to it by asking him to move in to her house. In the other bedroom. He pulls out the ring just to let her know where he stands. Everything is going great. He’s not sleeping in the second bedroom anymore and they’re happy. This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy contemporary romance. I ADORE reverse age gap and so was happy to see it here. I appreciated that this was directly addressed as an issue by both the lead characters and by secondary characters. I enjoyed Charlotte’s confidence in her worth and her skills. I enjoyed Max’s willingness to approach and engage with her, and to pursue a romantic relationship, not just a coparenting one. I enjoyed their intimate scenes. I enjoyed the secondary characters, some of whom have their own stories and it was lovely to get insight into their lives after their romance. I’m hoping both Charlotte’s siblings get their own romance.

Max is getting off his plane and about to head to Saddle Creek, TX. He hears a laugh and finds the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and decides he must meet her. He was raised by his older sisters after his parents passed away. Luna and Shelby (who we have read about and ended up with Mason and Dane respectively), so he knows that since he is a big guy, he has to bring down the fear and creep factor first, and he is only 22. Charlotte is in her early 30s and is an engineer and is there to meet someone from online for some drinks as their ‘date.’ Instead, she meets Max. Max and Charlotte just fit together like a the best puzzle pieces. I found this to be one of the funniest and funnest of this author’s books. The book made me lol a lot, as well as giggle, squee, tear up, put the AC on, lol and had some cool reveals. I really enjoyed the book and was surprised that the Saddle Peek/ gossip thingie never showed in this book, unlike in the majority of the others. Max’s sisters have the most hilarious nickname for him and I will be laughing about that on and off for days. I can’t wait for what happens next in Saddle Creek.

I really rate Kat Baxter’s writing style and this book is no exception . Max was in the right place right time . Charlotte was to meet up with man met online , but while she sat along came Max , he approached Charlotte , they got chatting and he got all flirty . Then he got a message alert on his watch saying all flights are cancelled so he decides to sit and wait it out …until Charlotte invited him to her hotel room … A much younger Max told Charlotte that he won’t be able to keep his hands to himself as she was sexy as hell and definitely top shelf. He was a good fit and they had a great time. Then Charlotte finds out she’s pregnant and she felt bad that Max wouldn’t know he was going to be a dad . But just as their first meeting all of a sudden he was there in front of her where she least expected …on her brother’s hockey team of all places…. Max cared nothing about their difference in ages but Charlotte kept giving him an out to go live his life but all he wanted was her , their baby and for her to be his wife … No matter how much she protested he insisted he was there to stay. Beautifully written , hot romance with heat and sweet . Awesome storytelling , brilliant read!.

Me surpreendeu!
Confesso que eu não tinha grandes expectativas com esse livro, porque pela sinopse identifiquei tudo o que geralmente não curto nos romances: mocinha mais velha, caso de uma noite só, gravidez surpresa, segunda chance, e durante a leitura descobri outras duas coisas: passagem de tempo no meio da história e mocinha divorciada cujo passado afetava negativamente o romance. Ou seja, tinha tudo para eu não gostar. Geralmente eu nem pegaria um livro assim para ler, mas gosto das histórias da autora e eu já havia lido os livros das irmãs do mocinho. Estava curiosa para conhecer a história dele, portanto resolvi arriscar. E não é que me surpreendi?!
Sim, algumas coisas ainda me incomodaram na história, a principal delas sendo a teimosia da mocinha, que dificultou o romance. Mas ela foi maravilhosa no final e, depois de ouvir umas verdades, foi correr atrás do prejuízo e se desculpar. No geral, foi uma história bem legal e tenho certeza que quem não se importa com os pontos que destaquei no parágrafo anterior vai amar o livro. Continua não sendo o meu tipo ideal de enredo, mas foi uma leitura muito boa e, por isso, eu recomendo!

I can not say enough good things about this book! It hits you in all the feels. Max and Charlotte meet up at the airport where he hears her laugh from across the way and just HAS to meet her. Charlotte is supposed to be meeting up with someone she’s been talking to online but has been stood up. There is a bit of an age difference (her being older) and when he starts flirting she thinks it’s a joke. Max knows Charlotte is his one and does everything to get her to spend time with him. They end up stranded because of a storm and she decides to invite him back to her room instead of sleeping at the airport and the sparks fly. After only exchanging first names and no phone numbers they don’t have any way to get in touch with each other. Charlotte ends up pregnant and has no way of contacting Max. As it happens she goes to her brother’s hockey game and Max is on his team. When they meet back up the sparks fly again and Max will do whatever it takes to keep his soulmate! This was an amazing story and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Wow did I love this instalove, curvy female character, alpha male hockey player, surprise baby read! I couldn’t put the book down! Charlotte is an engineer who travels for her job and decided to meet an internet date at the airport. He doesn’t show up but Max who is stranded at the airport notices her right away. When all flights are cancelled for the evening, Charlotte invites Max to her hotel room to spend the night now that they found out they love the same TV show and he could be comfortable instead of staying at the airport. While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Kat’s recent forays into the paranormal, there’s nothing quite like her contemporary romances. Perhaps it’s because it’s hard to imagine running into a gorgon or vampire, but a hot stranger, oh yeah. Sign me up! I loved Max and how he couldn’t tear his eyes away from Charlotte. He was ridiculously sweet, yet mature despite his young age. I loved the way he saw nothing but positives when looking at Charlotte. Though the surprise pregnancy was a shock, it warmed my heart to see Charlotte’s brother and sister rally to support her without any judgement. That was already a win-win in my book. In my mind, the way Max reacted when he saw Charlotte again proved he had deeper feelings for Charlotte than she gave him credit for and that he was in this thing with her for the long haul.

This is a very humorous insta-love story and I really enjoyed it a lot. Hockey player Max is stuck in an airport and falls for Charlotte, a curvy woman who is older than him. They have a super hot night together but don't exchange full names or contact information. She turns up pregnant but now has no way to contact him. Meanwhile he is sad because he feels like she is his soulmate and he missed out by not getting her contact information.
They meet completely by accident as Max's team captain is Charlotte's brother. Both of their families are hilarious and of course it all turns out OK in the the end (I don't think that is a spoiler, haha).
I recommend this book, it is great fun, and ties in with some of the author's other books.

Charlotte is ready to pack it in on her online prospect making his appearance when the very gorgeous - and very young - Max approaches her.
Grounded flights due to inclement weather provide an excellent opportunity for the pair to hook up.
Both are smitten but no vital details are exchanged other than first names and a hastily snapped selfie of them.
Fate isn’t done with them yet, however, as a very pregnant Charlotte shows up to cheer on her brother’s hockey team who’s star defenseman is none other than Max.
This was a really cute, steamy, and well written novella by Kat Baxter that I really enjoyed.

Baxter charms us with an age gap romance, but this time 22 y/o hockey player Max hooks up with 31 y/o Charlotte, an engineer. They were so caught up in the moment that they didn’t exchange phone numbers. Six weeks later that one night of passion results in lasting consequences. Read how the couple miraculously reunite. However, Charlotte assumes that Max isn’t ready for fatherhood, because in her previous marriage she felt rejected, and doesn’t want a repeat performance. How will Max convince her of his commitment? Siblings on both sides join forces to help. This is a very upbeat short story, worth reading again and again. Adorable, heartwarming with just the right amount of steam.

Charlie and Max have an unusual and cute meet-cute, and spend one amazing night together, and Charlie is left with a parting gift. Max is a few years younger than Charlie, however they don't have each others' contact details. A few months later they find each other and realise that they actually move in the same circles. He is absolutely besotted with her and ready to settle down straight away, but since they are now expecting a baby, Max moves in with her and Charlie is even more apprehensive about a relationship.
This was a really cute, fun, sweet and sexy story, as all of Kat's stories are! I am a big fan! Charlotte and Max had great chemistry. I have read several of the books and characters mentioned in this one, and I liked having a flashbacks of them. I enjoyed this book so much!.

A chance meeting in an airport has young hockey phenom Max instantly smitten with engineer Charlotte who is nine years older than him. After a steamy night together due to bad weather, they go their separate ways - both wishing they had exchanged more than first names. Especially when Charlotte discovers she is pregnant. But when fate intervenes and Max turns up in Austin - and on the same pro hockey team as Charlotte's brother - will she give him a chance to prove he's more than just a young hot shot?
Possibly my favourite Kat Baxter book to date, Hot Shot is an absolutely entertaining, steamy and swoony must-read.

Max was so sweet.As soon as he saw Charlotte he fell for her.
Charlotte is waiting for her date,who stands her up.
Max and Charlotte end up in the same room and spend a night together.
They only exchange first names.
When Charlotte discovers she is pregnant,she has no way of finding Max.
Max is regretting not getting Charlotte's number.
When they do eventually meet it is sweet.Charlotte tells Max about the pregnancy and he wants to be there every step of the way.
Once Charlotte gets over her past hurts they get to their happily ever after.
It was a nice surprise to find out Max is Shelby and Luna's brother and how happy they were for him finding his happily ever after with Charlotte.
Looking forward to Cat's next book.

3 and 1 half stars..
Wasn't really feeling this one which is weird as Ms. Baxter is one of my go to authors. Not sure if it was Max or Charlotte but the chemistry wasn't there. At one point Charlotte says she confident etc.. but then harp on some self esteem issues. There were a lot of other characters thrown in there but I feel the story would have best been used for Charlotte and Max. I wasn't sure of Charlotte was hesitant because of Max's age or as she said he was so physically attractive and that threw me off. I definitely love this Author but did not get my usual feels from this one. Would recommend as it may have just been me for this one.
