Reread 04/25 still really enjoyed this quick read

Awww I really likes this one. JS is back lol

-a cheating soon to be ex husband
-a wife and mother that’s strong and has lots of self worth
-A SUPER SWOONY H that’s treats his woman right
-Real life thoughts and emotions about starting over in your 40s
-a great mother
-a cheating ex who had regret and gets his karma but who is still around in the picture and turns out to be not a horrid man.
-steamy sexy times
-classic JS romance
-Funny banter w her bestie

So this is the best by far in this series.
It was super relatable.
It has all the good sex and romance we love from her.
A woman moving in and hurt and mad but not vengeful
OTT JP goodness.

I wish the H entered the picture earlier (50%) but I also get why he didn’t

It’s JS, so everyone should expect something very very ott. And of course there is.
I liked it though, the trope is slightly different because the heroine is in her forties and her husband of 25 years has cheated on her with a barely legal girl.
She doesn’t waste any time, and I cry respect, and files for divorce. The azzhole thought she would fight for him but, in the usual JS style, the heroine doesn’t understand why she should fight for a man she’s been married for 25 years and that has cheated on her while she never did. I love her.
The hero’s children all hate him now, and don’t spare him any punches, which I loved soooo much, because let’s be honest, we can hypocritically think that children are fine with a parent cheating and breaking up their families, but they don’t. Not ever.
And these are JS children, and they know right from wrong.
The man is now banished even by his youngest daughter who was his daddy’s lil girl. His mother is the only one who would protect him and try to mediate because she’s a selfish bitch and thinks the heroine is not enough for him, but his father, who’s also the owner of the company the hero hopes to inherit one day, let him know exactly what he thinks of him and that he’s planning to leave shares to his grandchildren and his daughter in law, so he won’t have the majority of the company.
I love this.
I love that the author goes inside the cheater’s mind and describes very well how the idiot justifies his affair as something that made him feel young, basically midlife crisis.
He thought, as most men in his situation, that he could have both wife and mistress, and that he earned it.
The heroine is a badass girl, who initially tries to poison him and even mow him down, then she realizes he’s not worthy of her anger and she decides to let him go.
When the get divorced she meets a very nice younger man, the real hero, who’s the typical alpha man, and that wants her as his woman, even if she’s older, with 4 children, and divorced.
They start a relationship and then guess what, she pregnant again.
After this, the typical unlikely ott things JS style happen.
Since she had four children with the first husband, I though, well maybe she will have twins? But nope, the author doesn’t stop here and in the end she makes up a really spooky sextuplet pregnancy that goes very very well, and the heroine manages to have another one in the end.
Well, I mean…
It could have been four stars but the multiple pregnancy was really ott. She thought she could be menopausal and I understand that twins could be conceived in a hormonal imbalance but my god, six.
At least we don’t have the usual creepy ending with the ex killing or being killed by someone. Her ex dumps the girlfriend and after realizing the huge mistake he made losing the love of his life, finds a nice woman that he knows he won’t love as much as the heroine, while the heroine lives a second chance where her second husband is a thousand times better than the first one and with her new eight children from him. Crazy but nice

This book made me cackle so damn much, specially Damon’s POV. JS when she writes this kind of books restored my faith in her.

We have various POVs from different characters, but the main one is mostly Jolene, Damon (starting from the 2nd half), Kevin (the cheating ex-husband) was sprinkled here and there and lastly very few of Dalton (Kevin’s father).

I got to say that I wished Damon appeared much earlier because I don’t wanna deal with Kevin’s garbage ass but Jolene made it up for it with her friends Sheila and Meave. Oh to have that kind of crazy friend group. I wouldn’t stop laughing if that happened 😭.

So it’s the typical:
-husband (40ish) cheated on wife(40ish) with a very young (just graduating HS young)
-wife founds out. wife lost all the love she has for husband
-husband wants to reconcile, realizes his mistake blahblahbla. usual bullshit
-OW was beaten up (we’ll know later by who) and blames wife. called the cops on her and all. husband was enraged with OW.
-wife was visited by a cop (who is Damon, who’s going to be the MMC)
-wife (I love her so much) deadass wants to divorce. so they finally did
-wife goes on to a club, meets Damon again and that’s where the fun begins
-Damon(who’s 4 yrs younger than wife) is bat shit hilariously crazy, like all of JS best MMC in her best books actually.
-they had sex, they had sextuplets (it was a surprise since wife thought she was on pre-menopause)
-turns out it was actually 7 kids 😭😭😭
-husband comes crawling and humble and regrets everything but mellows out in the end.
-happy ending

I enjoyed this book very much.

I wonder if the author is...let's see how much I can make ppls go wtf? Cuz she finds ways to outdo herself.

I was confused how this story was going to go.. I thought jo was going to get with Preston because of what happened. And we got a pov from the ow who happens to be Prestons daughter. Which wasn't necessary since the H wasn't Preston..
The H was a guy 10 years younger than her Damon and a cop and a trust fund kid.

We didn't get that until 48% before that was Jo going through the divorce and "meno" and getting rid of he ex. After that is all her and DOM Damon with a "BDE" because he was pushy annoying and always horny and already in love with Jo and Jo was like getting it.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the relationship 😕 I didnt love or hate it I was just okay. I did get annoyed about Damon and his one sided bet with the ex on kids. Yes her ex gave her 4 kids who are adults now. And guess what she didn't have meno no she's prego. With his 7 kids.. yes 7 kids on the first try. Idk why that was so extreme. Who cares how many kids she had.. I wish she didn't have 7 kids. 1 or 2 cool. But that was to much. Oh then she was prego again with one.

For twenty-five years Jolene Masterson was the wife, lover and partner to her husband and a wonderful mom to their kids. That all implodes when her husband, Kevin cheats with a much much younger young lady. Jolene wastes no time divorcing Kevin, but he does his best to not let her go and Jolene is getting tired of her antics. Now she is in her midlife with perimenopause and has caught the eye of Damon Kincaid.

Damon knows instantly he wants Jolene and as soon as he gets his chance he snares it. He knows he is vastly different then her ex, Jolene is a little slow understanding where their relationship is going but Damon is playing for keeps. Now Jolene just needs to catch up.

This was fun. Her ex is an idiot but I liked the fact that Damon sets him straight and Kevin takes his advice. Great story, have to go back and read the rest of the series.

A heart felt read

This was a great read. I loved how Jo was a strong FMC and with her friends standing by her. Damon swooped in and took exactly what he wanted. I’ll be honest, he was a little OTFT for me, but I guess it works. Jo is one of those ladies who wins, new beau, new life, new love, and a bigger family. This is one novel I recommend. 5⭐️ and the spice was spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (but seriously, who has that much energy?!)

Her hubs of 20 years is way too easily seduced by a jealous nemesis's 18 yo daughter! He realizes way to late what he risked and LOST to a super sexy, well hung and super fertile retired, athlete, cop.
He is richer and better than him in every way.Another JP Insta love but once again JS makes finding new love fun, uplifting and entertaining even as my preference is a well crafted, well conceived hard earned reconciliation...like in book one, scorched earth, scorned woman, unique and compelling w comic flair!
Loving the ex series, still need to read book 3...but I'd be psyched if the motto here was ..To infinity and beyond!
Not obvious enough? Keep them coming please Jordan Silver!❤

Midlife Woes… AKA cheater husband

Ms. Silver always writes really great stories, and this is no different. I’ve one-clicked almost all of her books because I really enjoy her writing. This one is part of her Ex series, and is the fifth one.

The husband, Kevin, seemed to believe that he could have his cake and eat it too. The man’s logic is seriously flawed. He gets himself tangled up in a teenage girl who is just barely legal, and thus torpedoed his 25 year marriage.

But there’s light at the end of the tunnel. She finds true love and happiness in the end, and my only complaint is the lack of editing, as usual. Love this one though!

Highly recommended…

~This one turned out to be surprisingly good. A bit unrealistic but it's fiction so yeah.

~I really loved the FMC(Jolene). She was funny, beautiful and knew her worth despite being a SAHM. There's not a single scene where she was questioning her worth and wondering what she done wrong in her marriage. I loved how there was not a single thought in her mind about staying in her marriage and working things out with her cheating husband. She knew from the moment she found out about the affair that her twenty-something years marriage was done and there's no going back. She wasn't moping around and was actively working on getting better and started living her life.

The way her kids and her parents with her father-in-law and her friends supported her throughout the whole book and was genuinely happy for her when she met MMC was so refreshing to read. I liked how her kids humbled their cheating father.

This book was all about her moving on with her life. MMC (Damon) wasn't even introduced in the first half of the book but once they meet they were all about each other and it was good to read.

Midlife Woes, the fifth, and final book in The Ex series, was about 45-year-old Jolene (Walters) Masterson, her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kevin Masterson, and 41-year-old Damon Kincaid, a former professional football player/turned police officer and owner of a night club.

This story was told from multiple POVs: Jolene (the FMC), Kevin (the FMC's soon-to-be ex), Dalton, the FMC's father-in-law (this was done briefly), and the MMC Damon (who didn't appear until late in the story).

Jolene and Kevin had been married for 25 years when she confronted him with the knowledge of his affair with their oldest son's BFF's 18-year-old sister, Anne. The following morning, he told her he wanted a divorce and was angry when she didn't fight him over it. Since all four of their kids were grown and out of the house, she was ready to move on.

There was a scene that felt unnecessarily cruel on Jo's part, and that was when she informed Anne's father, 46-year-old Preston Thorpe, about the affair between his daughter and her husband. The only reason it fit into the story was the fact that Preston admitted that he had inadvertently been the reason Anne had targeted Kevin. Preston and his ex had a fight, during which he told her he wished he had married Jo instead of her. He'd had a childhood crush on Jo that he never truly got over, and wanted to rub it in his ex-wife's face. It was for that reason that the ex-wife gave her daughter the idea of going after Jo's husband in retaliation.

Once their divorce went to court, Kevin "had a meltdown" in front of the judge during which he shed some "crocodile tears" about wanting to salvage his marriage. the judge mandated they take six months to try for a reconciliation. That meant Kevin was allowed to move back into her house, and she had to put up with his antics. But much to his ire, she didn't cave.

For the next several weeks, Jo gave Kevin the cold shoulder, pretended he wasn't there, or just gave him "the stink eye" whenever he tried to interact with her. At some point during this forced reconciliation, the affair partner was assaulted by an unknown assailant. However, both she and her mother pointed the finger at Jolene as the perpetrator, so two police officers showed up at her residence to question her. Fortunately for her, she had security cameras that proved she was at home at the time the girl was injured, so she was not arrested. Jo noticed that one of the officers had shown a flicker of interest in her but didn't follow through.

It was around two months after the divorce was final when Jo, her BFF Sheila, and her BFF's sister, Maeve, went to a local establishment to celebrate. While there, Jo was re-introduced to Damon, one of the police officers who had shown up at her house several months earlier. Unfortunately, his appearance so late in the story didn't give the author a lot of room to create a backstory for him, so it was a rushed job that seemed to be just haphazardly thrown together. His character needed more development than was given (or allowed), so he came across as a bit of a bully who pushed Jo around and passed it off as a BDSM-style character. It also caused the relationship between Damon and Jo to develop at a rapid pace, with them learning after two months together that she was pregnant (something she thought could not happen because she was beginning perimenopause). Two months after that, they were married.

The story had plenty of angst, drama, and revenge that made the book enjoyable. The cheating was done off-page before the book began, so nothing was ever seen during the story. The eye-opening that the ex-husband experienced was both sad and well-earned, but it was nice to see how the FMC dealt with the situation without becoming a doormat or losing her dignity as she navigated through the messiness of the divorce. Even the title didn't quite fit the story because it made it sound like one of the main characters had a midlife crisis when, in fact, it was the soon-to-be ex who went through that.

Both main characters were fully developed and mature, with no real growth needed for either of them. That was all on the ex-husband, and he did finally do some growing up. The controlling nature of the MMC was a bit OTT and uncalled for at times, and it was more than a little uncomfortable how the FMC caved to his bullying ways. That made the story lose a star for me because, for most of the book, Jo was in control and stood her ground, only to allow the MMC to boss her around and take some of that away from her. I wasn't certain why the author felt the need for the FMC to give up some of her strength to the MMC like that so close to the end.

I had been willing to give this a full five-star rating, but because of how the author portrayed the MMC as she did. She also threw in a former love interest from Damon's past that created a bit of a stink that didn't fit into the story. It just managed to take away another star because, once again, it was misplaced and uncalled for, giving Damon a moment of unnecessary meanness that was uncalled for. Therefore, I only gave this a three-star rating. Still, it was a good story with an excellent revenge plot.

I have read 2 books on this series and especially liked, Stealing my ex. I like the Authors writing style. I love the fmcs take no prisoners / indifferent attitude after she finds out her husband of 25 years had an affair with a 18 year old after being a faithful wife for decades and a mother to his 4 children.

I got about 55 percent in and I believe the fmc just met the mmc ( new love interest). I don't think this book is for me. I don't mind chick lit as long as there's a romance threaded in between. However since a lot of this book is inner dialogue rather then conversation with anyone, there were a lot of parts I found myself zoning out.

I did think this was a funny book, for sure. But it felt disjointed at times, too. We have Jolene and Kevin married for over twenty years and with four kids away at Ivy League colleges. She is sitting at the breakfast table having her morning cup of coffee and the homemade cinnamon rolls like she always made. When he comes down and states he wants a divorce. Her response was, Okay. Putting him on the defensive saying, You Beech! That’s it? That's all you have to say after twenty-five years of marriage. Then, telling her he wanted her out of his house.

Now, she’s pissed. She wasn’t the one who cheated on her and the family, but she had the evidence to prove it. She thought she proved it the night before. She had raised her babies in that home and put up with his BS much longer than she should have. He said Ann was nothing but a mistake, a one-time thing, and it would never happen again. Did I mention she is his oldest son’s best friend's little sister? She had been working for Kevin at the office.

She hasn’t always been that cold and disinterested. She used to love her husband and thought she always would be. They had the kind of relationship that everyone envied; She would’ve died for her husband up until a few days ago. But that was before she saw the words ‘I love you’ written by her husband to some teeny bopper skank down the street. Just reading that text, made every bit of love she ever had for him die on the spot.

Something he failed to remember before he made his fatal move toward cheating. When Jolene is done with you, she is done. You can’t argue and fuss with a dead person, she’s not nuts, and this a-hole is D.E.A.D to her. She sent a text to her children that they would all be home this weekend or else. Let's just say the ex lies in court, and he doesn’t give up his sidepiece or even let her go from the job. Then, when Jolene serves him with divorce papers he’s pissed he thought he could have the best of both worlds.

Then, they get their day in court and he cries, no he for real cries. Saying he wants a second chance to work out his marriage. It was only one mistake. When in fact, she had caught him Facetiming Ann, him going to see her, and people in town still seeing them together. But, don't worry payback is a beech. Jolene makes Kevin pay in so many interesting ways.

Plus, things aren’t all bad. Kevin’s little trollop is the one that brought Jolene and her future husband to their first meet-cute. But, her One in a Million guy, was almost too much. The extreme OTT kind of got old and I found myself skipping pages. How he handles the children is like a no-f’in way!

Another soapy OTT drama and I was here for it!

Cheating = husband cheats on h with an 18 yoa OW; no cheating by either the H or the h

OW drama = come to find out the OW's mom put her up to going after the husband as a way ti get revenge against the h in a twisted way. The OW's dad used to have a crush and still had residual feelings for the h, so OW's mom wanted the h to lose everything. OW was also attacked and assaulted which she then tried to blame on the h. police go to h's house to question her, but h has video evidence she never left so was in the clear. Funny enough, one of the cops who show up turns out to be the H.

The H in this one doesn't show up until well into the book, like closer to 40/50% of the way into the book. H, the cop, turns out to have been a retired NFL player, worth millions of dollars and owner of several businesses as well as having generational wealth. H goes after the h once he hears about the divorce with singular focus (as all of this author's Hs do as well as being hung like a horse).

F-preg = h was not on any type of birth control as she thought at 45 years old she was perimenopausal and not able to conceive. Well H with his massive shlong and ability to "womb fuck" the h, gets her pregnant with not 1, not 2, heck not even 3, but with....wait for it....7, S-E-V-E-N, babies. I can't even....yes, suspend belief and just enjoy the ride.

This one was much better than the last, so I am glad I chose to obliterate the "twin talk" memory I have from the last book and dove into this one.

😂2.5 Cougars be trippin stars.

🟦SHOCKINGLY FUNNY. 🤣🤣

🟦That writing is so bad. But in a funny way.

🟦Very free style with no smooth flow to it.

🟦You know, I remember reading this one book by JS few years ago, it was called "Diary Of a Pissed off Wife." This book is VERY similar to that one.

🟥Spoilers-🟥

✅The h has been married for more than 20 years to the cheating scumbag of a husband. She has four ADULT kids in college. The husband slept with his son, Todd's friend's sister. She(Ann) was barely legal and was working part time in his office.

✅The H(Preston) with whom she ends up is..........you'll never guess........ITS ANN'S DAD. 😆

✅Preston has had a crush on the h since they were kids, but they never cheated on their spouse and often joked about it.

✅This is so twisted I love it!

✅Preston is divorced himself after his wife bed hopped throughout the neighbourhood.

✅There is obviously no cheating just shit loads of drama with the soon to be ex-husband who is a LITERAL donkey y'all. 😒

✅Idk why the description says 'Cougar' when the Hero, Preston, is actually a year older than her 45 years. I think its cuz he looks 35.

✅I do like the SUDDEN burst of self-confidence she aquires after she realises her kindness and trust has been broken.

started off good but middle and ending too weird

I liked how the book started. The females snarkiness towards the husband how the kids reacted were all great..
However (spoiler alert). When she gets pregnant with multiple children she acts like an ass. She knows or should know the risks in a multiple birth is extremely high. The babies are at a very high risk and she would loose all of them. That should have been her main concern , not complaining about having to rest and be waited on hand and foot. That is not being a strong woman that is just being reckless with the life’s of the babies and her own life. Also what is the deal with having so many??? All of Jordan’s books seem to have multiple babies. Women can have a good life and happy without having children. Also having premature babies raises the risk of the babies having birth defects. I know this is fictional but try to make it at least realistic.

Well this is the final book in the Ex's novels. This one is a lot different than the others but I'm a coin toss about how to rate it. It was definitely relatable in the sense of being middle age, going through a divorce bc of a cheating husband...having to start over. That is what attracted me to this book.

What I started to get annoyed with is the unrealistic aspects. I know it's fiction but felt it was so far fetch. So magically a younger hot guy just sweeps you off your feet, super rich snd famous and married so quickly and have 7 kids at once at the age of 45 without any IVF ? Okay come on now way too far fetch.

Mood Reader: If you want a SAHM, married for over 20 years, to triumph over her cheating husband, get petty and ultimate revenge against him, find a better man/lover and every good person in their life totally supports the FMC and turns against the cheater/ celebrates her divorce and cheers her on with her divorce and new beau, including all four adult children, former FIL, parents and crazy ride-or-die friends -- this is the book for you.

For me, it sorta meanders after awhile, like the author didn't know quite what to do after the FMC pushes back on the "forgiveness" narrative... it felt like a formula mature woman revenge/ new romance/ cheating ex suffers story without much depth of character. It reminds me of "The Vengeful Trad Wife" which I also just read. Like a soda on a hot day, it hits the spot, but provides little substance.

Great Read

I liked that Jolene met a younger man who sweep her off her feet. I liked that her friends had her back through it all. I liked that Jolene was a strong woman and taking control and not letting her ending marriage, and cheating ex’s get the best of her. I didn’t like that it took so long in the story for her to meet her new man. I understand we had to know how it let up to it, but still too long in my opinion.
Overall great read would recommend this book and author.

The story was until after the divorce. Everything about her relationship with Damon, especially the spicy scenes, was cringy af. I love a OTT alpha hole man as much as the next but Damon was not written well. He was borderline disrespectful towards Jo and not disrespectful in a fun way IYKYK. She let it slide because the s*x was so good then of course she ended up pregnant. And don’t get me started on the names of private parts. Seriously how many times are you going to use the word sn*tch?? It’s not sexy and makes the whole scene terrible

Absolutely A Must Read

This writer is absolutely one of my
favorites. This book had me rolling and I like that. It was a 30 almost 40-year-old. I get so tired of reading about these young firm girls that still all these older men give me a freaking break. I love this writer and there’s a few others that write books about women in their 40s 50s and 60s, which is nice because we’re the ones that buy them.

h finds out her husband of 25 years who is in his mid 40s is cheating on her with an 18 year old. This is the story of her finding her love after the divorce and karma for the cheater.

This is probably my favorite Jordan silver book. Although it still a bit over the top found it to be the most realistic (with the except of this 13 in d and the sextuplets).

I love that the h is in her mid 40s and the H is a few years younger.

If you enjoy JS you will enjoy this book. This series has been hit and miss and I thought this book was a good mix between typical JS and mainstream. The medical stuff was a little far fetched but technically possible so… I just shrugged and kept reading.
