He's danger and desire wrapped up in one person. I'm not into guys, but I can't stay away.

I came to New Onyx seeking opportunity and experiences, trading in my small town existence for a big city one. I never expected to stumble upon a place like Lair, a nightclub that captures all of life's hedonistic pleasures. Working there is...interesting, and I'm learning that there's so much more to the world than I ever knew.

Meeting Hale, the charismatic, alluring man with a wild streak, leads me down a path of self-discovery, desire, and a hint of danger I never thought possible. I've never had feelings for a man before, but there's something undeniable about the stoic man. He's possessive and overbearing, but somehow, those qualities intrigue me.

When faced with a problem that threatens all that I hold dear, it's Hale I lean on to get me through it. He helps unleash a side of me I didn't know existed that turns my life on its head. With Hale by my side, things are about to get feral.

Feral is book one in Wicked Nights at Lair, an Immortal Assassins spin-off series. You can expect a hunky farm boy with a heart of gold in the big city, a wounded vampire doing his best to be civilized, a city full of bad guys who need to learn a lesson, a steamy nightclub setting with a touch of k*nk, fated mates, bisexual awakening, family ties, cameo appearances, tons of heat, and two men embracing their feral sides.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

Hale makes me wonder what a greedy, masculine lover would be like. Would he make the first move? Could I sit back and be made love to instead of initiating the interaction? Would I like that?

Sometimes I just want to read an uncomplicated paranormal story with fated mates, and Mia Monroe seems to be quite good at exactly that. I enjoyed this a lot and it kept me entertained. Beefy Ohio farm boy turned a bit of a pillow princess? Please and thank you. There’s also something really endearing about a vampire who is patiently waiting for their fated mate, wanting that eternal love. Although the two MCs were very cute together, the other stuff going on was kinda just okay.

I was definitely missing Hale’s backstory (mentioned in the book’s foreword), but it was explained well enough and can be read as a standalone, although I do believe having read the Immortal Assassins series first will lead to even more enjoyment. I’ve read book 1 in that series and it was helpful with keeping up with the side characters.

Oh fuck. We’re about to be cocks out.

Yannis did read like he was 24, not 34, but that’s minor stuff. I do wish authors would stop writing anal sex scenes with no lube or prep tho. You couldn’t spare a drop of lubricant for his first time bottoming? This isn’t MF romance, you can’t just stick it in and be good to go, lol.

Ignoring that painful visual, it was cute and entertaining. Wish the kinky stuff that was briefly mentioned actually turned into something, but sadly, no voyeurism or exhibitionism in sight ):

It's so fun reading side characters you remember from a previous series get their HEA. Hale had it bad in Eros book from the Immortal Assassins. He watched his boyfriend die in front of him after escaping a cult.
I felt so bad 😭

Nice start to the series. This wasn't groundbreaking love, but I had fun.
Fluffy
Insta love
Wee bit spicy
Fated mates
Neckbitters
No cheating/OM
Lil juicy drama
Touch him and die

I loved the cameos from the brothers.

I wonder if Yannis brother will snag a vammpy 🤭

You could read this as a standalone, but I promise you'll enjoy it more if you read the Immortal Assassins series first.
Their world is connected and pretty cool.

"All the gods, Yannis was meant for me. I am stunned."

It was so great to see Hale get his HEA after what he's been through in the past. My heart hurt for him so bad in the previous book when he was found. I wondered at first if he was meant for Yves, but then I discarded that idea since it didn't appear sparks flew between the two at all during their interactions. Just like all the other vampires Yves had collected along the way in his long life, Hale became a member of his family, not a mate. And honestly, a family is exactly what Hale needed at that time in his immortal life. I don't think he would have been ready a meet his mate yet.

This book begins a few years after Hale has been with the House of Orpheus and working at the bar Lair. In that time, he has focused mainly on the bar and healing his wounded heart. Losing a loved one, even if they aren't your fated, is still a painful thing. Hale needed time to grieve that loss and I felt he was at a good point when Yannis appeared into his life.

Yannis was a fun human. I loved his outlook on life and his want for adventure. He sure found it the day he walked into Lair!! The attraction between these two was immediate, even though Yannis had only previously been interested in women. Their romance was sweet, even with the big bad mafia dudes causing trouble in the background. What's a little violence when your mate's safety is on the line? Nobody is going to complain about that.

I also enjoyed meeting Yannis' brother. It got me wondering if he may be meant for someone we have met at Lair. My money is on Tiago at the moment since baby bro seems to be into the Daddy type. Tiago likes to be aware of everything going on in the bar, making sure everyone is safe. I could see him being a good partner. Either way, I hope both these men get their stories eventually whether they end up together or not!

Finally, Hale gets his HEA. I absolutely loved Yannis for Hale. He was such a good match for him.

After all the Hale has been through, it was nice to see fate smile on him. Hale is such a trooper and has waited so long for his mate. Yannis was adorable in every way. I loved how open he was to this whole new world in addition to dealing with his attraction to a man for the first time. They suited each other perfectly.

This was full of action, spice and love and made for such an enjoyable read.

Yay, more vampires from Mia Monroe! I was so sad that the Immortal Assassins stories wrapped up, but pleased that we're getting stories from Lair and so many of the side character vampires whose personalities shone in the previous series...now if only we could get a crossover with the Eaton Falls sides... hmm???

But I digress, Feral is another Fated Mates story that brings a human into the Feral orbit, which also brings a new round of trouble to the New Onyx vampires... and I am here for all the delicious steam, and the inevitable clash between good and evil. I love that Hale just takes everything in stride and chalks so much up to not being aware because he grew up in a small town, not that everything going on around him is supernatural and unique...

We get great cameos from the Orpheus brothers and their mates, who are helpful in giving Hale insight into what he's in for...

I can't wait to see what happens next and which other characters will be featured in this series! I am particularly hopeful for something with Hale's younger brother....

Feral by Mia Monroe is book 1 in her new vampire series Wicked Nights at Lair.

We met Hale in the previous series when he was discovered with the body of his murdered mortal lover, Nathan. Hale has since recovered and is now working at the Lair. I was really worried that Nathan would be a ghost over Hale and Yannis’ relationship but he wasn’t.

Yannis and Hale made such an interesting couple and I really came to love them. I’m intrigued by all the side characters from the Lair and of course, Dimi, Yannis’ brother.

It was really great to see glimpses of the Immortal Assassins as well. This was an entertaining story!

This is a new author for me. I love when an author can write an amazing vampire story. So happy to have found another author that writes about vampires :)

Yannis left his home after his brother went off to college. He needed to find something that would excite his life. He decided to head to New Oynx. He wanted to be able to explore everything and find his true self. When he gets an invitation to have some fun at a nightclub but keep an open-mind, he decides he'd wanted to find out what it was about. He meets Hale at the nightclub and has an instant attraction to him which confuses him at first. He decides that he is just going to let it play out and see what happens. He gets offered a job and he decides he wants to take it even after learning what the club, Lair's people really are, supernatural.

Hale was a loner and rescued by his coven, House of Orpheus, that he considers his family. He was broken hearted after losing a loved one but his coven brothers helped him through it all. He works at the nightclub, Lair and working on a donor program. When he first spots Yannis, he can't but help stare at him. The instant pull that he has towards him, he just want to stay by him and see him again. When Yannis accepts the job offer, he has no choice but to tell him about the clubs patrons being supernatural but explain things to him.

Yannis & Hale stick together and the more time they spend together, Yannis accepts it and goes with the flow. He just goes with his feelings. He can't seem to stay away from Hale and he was content with that. These two clearly show their emotions and become very protective of each other. So much goes on in this story that you'll stay hooked and want to keep turning the pages. These two show that everyone deserves love and fighting for it together.

Way to go to the author, Mia for writing such an amazing story. I just loved how you could connect with both of the characters. There was never a dull moment in this story.

What are read thoroughly enjoyed this book
Firstly, let me say I’ve got this book from Gay romance reviews, and this is me leaving my honest review.
This is the first book that I read from Mia Monroe and I’ve got to say I was blown away. This is the first vampire book a read for a while and I just thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. In this book we have Hale who is a vampire who lost his boyfriend a couple of years ago and has tried not to find love again because of the heartache he went through. But you can’t stop fated Mates.
Yannis has left home now that his younger brother is in college and looking for some excitement in his life. He grew up around farms and now he wants more. And he arrives in new onyx. An out walking one night he comes across a girl with green hair who offers him a card and says he’ll be most welcome. So Yannis follows the directions, to a club and this is where he meets Hale and he feels in instant attraction to him, which surprises Yannis as he has never been attracted to a man before, but he is in for so many surprises. And when he learns he could get a job there. This feels exciting to him.
Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I just couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and then was absolutely gutted when the story ended. I really enjoyed the attraction between these two main characters. But what I really enjoyed was the way that Yannis just went with his feelings. He’s younger brother. Demi is gay so he’s always been open and accepting to the spectrum. But these two just cannot keep their hands off each other. And when Yannis is threatened and put at risk Hale and his brothers will stop at nothing to keep him safe. There are so many twists and turns in this book, but they are so lushhhhhhhh. I cannot wait to read more books in the series.

I have read many Mia Monroe books and enjoyed them all, but without making a conscious decision to do so, I haven't read any of hers for quite a while. I am excited to jump back into her books with this new series. I absolutely loved it! It is a bit darker than what I remember from her books in the past, but I might just not be remembering accurately. I didn't find it overly graphic or off-putting at all. These supernaturals simply do whatever is necessary to protect their own, and I am here for it.

I found the concept of Lair and the ward protecting it to be interesting, but I didn't really feel like the ward was necessary. It was supposed to keep those without an open mind from finding the club, but many people still found it with nefarious purposes and with what I would have considered a closed mind. That aside, everything about the story was great.

Hale is our supernatural MC, a vampire, and Yannis is his mortal mate. I really liked Yannis, though he is a bit of a clueless dude-bro/country boy kind of guy. I really liked how sweet he was, especially with his brother, and how he just took it all in stride. He was up for anything and learning about the supernatural world and Hale opened him to side of himself that he had never considered. I also enjoyed Hale's character immensely. He deserved to find his HEA with this mate after all that he'd been through. He was a truly likeable character. Their romance is very low angst.

All the side characters, new and old (from a previous series) were equally engaging and interesting. I'm going to have to track down the books for the established couples while I wait for the next on in this series. I'm definitely looking forward to it!

I loved this book! Finally, Hale gets his HEA and I couldn't be happier with Yannis as his perfect match. Yannis was such a wonderful partner for Hale, bringing warmth and affection to a character who has endured so much.

After everything Hale has been through, it was heartwarming to see fate finally smile on him. Hale is such a resilient and patient character, having waited so long for his mate. Yannis, with his adorable nature, was a delightful addition to the story. I loved how open he was to embracing this new world, even while navigating his attraction to a man for the first time. Their connection felt genuine and beautifully balanced, suiting each other perfectly.

This story was packed with action, spice, and love, making it an incredibly enjoyable read. The dynamic between Hale and Yannis brought a refreshing energy to the narrative and their journey together was both thrilling and touching. Watching their relationship blossom amidst the chaos and excitement was truly a joy.

Mia Monroe did a fantastic job of blending intense moments with tender, romantic interludes, creating a well-rounded and compelling story. The chemistry between Hale and Yannis was palpable from the start, and their interactions kept me engaged throughout.

Overall, this book delivered on all fronts—action, romance, and emotional depth. It was a thoroughly satisfying read that left me feeling uplifted and eager for more. Hale and Yannis's story is a testament to the power of love and resilience, and it's one that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a captivating and heartwarming read.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book and thought that it was a good start to the Wicked Nights at the Lair Series, which is an Immortal Assassins Series spin-off. We were first introduced to Hale during this series in book 3, Always Eros. Wow, Hale went through so much during that book, especially with his mortal lover Nathan being murdered and nearly dying himself but was saved by Yves and the House of Orpheus Coven.

I’m glad that he got his happily ever after. I loved that the Lair is now open to all species and certain mortals, if their energy is the right vibe. Yannis is from a small town in Ohio and decides to come to New Onyx seeking new opportunities and experiences that he couldn’t get in Ohio. I thought that Hale and Yannis are great together and their chemistry is completely off the charts. Man, Hale goes completely feral when Yannis is in danger.

I enjoyed meeting a lot of interesting characters during this book and I’m really looking forward to reading their stories as the series continues. I’m hoping that Yannis’s younger brother Dimi gets his own book, as him and Yannis shouldn’t have to lose each other since they’re so close. He also accepted that there are supernatural beings really well, especially with the way he found out. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to others.

******I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

Awesome start to a new series! It is wickedly dark and sensual, sweet and fluffy, violent and deadly, bloody and vengeful, and filled with so much love.
Yannis and Hale are perfect for each other. Yannis is a human who is completely accepting of the supernaturals he encounters, especially Hale, who brings about previously unknown feelings and desires. Hale has suffered much in his many years and, as a vampire, has committed violence when needed, but for Yannis, he becomes more deadly and reaches a whole other level of protectiveness. I love how both MC's are willing to defend and protect each other, their connection is fairly quick but feels genuine and deep, and leads them to love and HEA.
There are multiple secondary characters - not too many as to be distracting - that add depth to this story and some that make you more curious as to their story (there were a few that I'd love to learn more about and see them get their HEA).
I liked that Lair was an essential part of this story, but I'd like to see more of what goes on there.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is engaging and entertaining. I would recommend this book to like minded people, but please check the TW's as there are dark themes throughout this book.

I received an ARC through GRR, this is my honest opinion.

"I was made to love him, and that's exactly what I'll spend the rest of the time doing."

A vampire book that had me curious to where this was going, this was a good one.
The chemistry between Yannis & Hale was at first stunted to me. Not forced but also just kind of lingered there in between them.
Although this was a good read and I love vampire books this one seemed to be missing something.
Don't get me wrong it's a good book and it flows great but there is a rushing vibe to it when it comes to the relationship that builds between the MC's.

Add in the conflict of 2 "villians" and it kind of goes south from there.
Definitely there was things that could have been expanded more on but that may just be me and wanting more in the development of these characters stories as well as their HEA.
The first half of this book was great, it went into detail and gave the "world building" that this new series needs especially if it is a spin off from another series. The second half of the book fell flat and it was around the time that Yannis & Hale get together when it should get more interesting instead of stale and almost too predictable.

It was a good book but there was much missing and more that could be built on to make it very good and even more enjoyable.

Feral by Mia Monroe is book one in Wicked Nights at Liar, an Immoral Assassins spin-off series.

« human x vampire »
« fated mates »
« bisexual awakening »
« close proximity »
« lots of biting »
« found family »

I was so not ready to say goodbye to the world of Immoral Assassins, so I was so happy to get my hands on this book. Even more so that Hale finally gets his much deserved HEA.

I really loved Yannis as a character. He was so open and welcoming of the paranormal world and having completely acceptance of those who are different. I also loved how quickly he accepted his feelings for Hale and not getting too hung up on labels or that he always thought he was straight.

I was completely here for the feral vibes from Hale when Yannis is in danger, which seems to be completely out of character for him. But protecting Yannis brings out all these protective and feral instincts in him.

This story had a balanced mixture of romance, spice, and action. The many delightful secondary characters also added to the enjoyment of this book. I am looking forward to more from this series and really hope Yannis’ brother, Dimi gets his own book.

so excited to keep reading in this world, and holy hotness Batman!

I’m so excited this universe is still going! I was so curious what would happen to Hale, and I’m so glad he got his happy ending!

Yannis was looking for something new and exciting, and he definitely got that adventure at Liar. He might now have been expecting vampires and other supernaturals, but he certainly rolled with it once he learned. Hale has been going through life focusing on his job and keeping his wild side in check, but Yannis knocks him out of his rut. Mobsters and chaos ensue, and Yannis and Hale grow closer. The addition of Yannis’s brother and all the other members of the Lair team rounded out the cast, and the mobster storyline left enough of an opening for it to make sense to continue on later.

I enjoyed how this storyline naturally led in from the previous series, but is standing alone as it’s own story set as well. I loveddddd getting to meet all of the people in Lair, and I’m so freaking excited to get all of their stories. This felt like a really natural expansion of the character cast, without infodumping. It was so well done, and I can’t wait for the rest of the stories!

Where have all these authors been hiding?? The past four books have been new authors for me and every one has had exceptional storylines with just the right amount of extracurricular touches. Mia definitely did not disappoint with this one either, and there really wasn’t an over abundance of vampires, which normally happens. But, the storyline is what caught my attention. There was depth in this story, there was purpose, excitement, lust and banter! Oh, and one hell of a scene towards the end!

Yanni, first off, I absolutely love the name choice! I have never felt a character connect with a name like he did. And what better of a match than Hale?! Initially, he kind of gives off old man vibes but the longer him and Yanni are around each other, he loosens up and we meet his true identity. Mia takes us through the process of getting to know each other, and apparently Yanni is very open minded! Their connection was instantaneous and could be felt through the pages, no force and completely organic! I absolutely loved their story!

I am kind of hoping Dimi and Rhett hit it off, especially since Rhett is so against finding the one. Fate is funny like that sometimes.

- paranormal
- vampires
- fated mates
- bi-awakening
- low angst

This is the first in a new series, which is a spin-off from the previous Immortal Assassins series. Hale appeared briefly in the previous series but Yannis is a new character completely. Hale is a vampire, and Yannis a mortal with no idea the supernatural world exists. Yannis pitches up in New Onyx and is drawn towards the supernatural nightclub where Hale works. I liked both Hale and Yannis, although Yannis hasn't been with a man before, he's very open to it and there's zero angst when he finds himself attracted to Hale. He's also very accepting of the supernatural world, and Hale's real nature when he finds out what he is.

As it's a fated mates story, things move very quickly between the two, not quite instant but almost. As I've read the previous series, I knew what to expect and I love how Hale and Yannis were together, and how protective Hale was of his mate and family. There's also some great found family with Yves and the rest of the Orpheus boys making appearances too. Great start to a new series.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Great fast paced read with fated mates, vampires, action and suspense!

Mia introduces us to Lair, a safe haven night club for supernaturals to be themselves. Mortals are welcome but unable to find the club unless they are open to this world.

Yannis is new to town and looking for new experiences and adventure. He received a card from a mysterious stranger with directions to the club and there he meets Hale, a lonely vampire who helps run the club.

I enjoyed reading the development of Yannis and Hales relationship. The timeline is fast with no angst and is interspersed with vampire action as Yannis and eventually his brother run into some problems with the local Mafia.

The other characters we meet are great and add to the overall universe Mia is creating with Lair. We are introduced to characters I think we’ll see as future mains and characters from previous interconnected series and it rounds out the cast of characters well.

This is a great read for those who want a fast paced, no angst, fated mates read with action, spice, and suspense with interconnected characters. I certainly will be looking forward to more Wicked Nights at Lair books!

I’m excited to delve into the lives of the folks at Lair, our favourite vampire/Sup bar. We are in for interesting times for sure.

It all kicks off with Hale who has been through some crap! He’s a fascinating character because though he’s old, he spent time in captivity, which means he hasn’t really ‘lived’ much of his life. He deserves something good, something just for him.

He’s a good mate for Yannis. A thoroughly nice farmboy who’s looking for something more. And boy does he get it - in the form of bad guys, discovering the existence of the supernatural, and fated mates. But he takes all of it in stride.

I’m especially enamoured with Yannis’ discovery of his attraction to men (or one man) and the joys of sex with the right one.

There is of course plenty of bad guy drama to keep you entertained, while also getting to explore the bar and its offerings more.

This is the first time I have read any thing by Mia Monroe. Mia suggests that if you would like prior knowledge on Hale read book three of Immortal Assassins, Always Eros. I find that I will go back to read the other books connected to Feral. I’ve become quite interested in the other characters in the book. Personally, I thought the book needed to be more in depth. It felt more like skimming the surface of this story and characters. I’m giving this book about 3.5 stars overall.

Feral is book one in the Wicked Nights at Lair. A spin-off series to Mia’s Immortal Assassins. This book follows Hale and Yannis. Hale is an Immortal Vampire working as a boss at the Lair. The Lair is a supernatural night/sex club where supernatural beings can explore their darker sides within reason. Hale is not interested in anyone. He mostly ignores anyone who approaches him, waiting for his mate. One night, Yannis gets invited to the Lair. This is where he gets noticed by Hale, and by the end of the night get a job. As the book goes on there comes more and more trouble before both Hale and Yannis get their happy ending.

This book is a spin-off of another series that I read by this author, which I enjoyed, so I figured since I was familiar with one of the main characters who was featured in that series, then I would give this one a shot.

Hale and Yannis were a cute couple. They had instant chemistry and weren't afraid to either be themselves or discover who they were, and both were willing to try pretty much from the beginning.

I enjoyed the introductions of new characters as well as seeing the old ones. Thorn is still my favorite. 😁

I will continue with the series, primarily because it is low angst and has a lot of fluffy and funny moments.

Notable Scene:

“I was looking forward to my shift tonight.”

Hale grabs my hand, squeezing it. “There’ll be plenty more.”

“I know, but…I wanted more of you. I wanted to show off.”

“Show off to who?”

“Everyone. The first guy I ever liked, and I bag someone like you? I can’t believe my luck.”

“It wasn’t luck.” He kisses my cheek quickly. “That I’m sure of.”

Yannis and Hale's story was an enjoyable paranormal fated mates romance. I think the added context from the other connected series would have been helpful, but even without it I still got invested in the characters and their journey. Hale and Yannis had a pretty standard meet cute, but things really blew up once Yannis got tangled up with a neighborhood crime family. That's when the vampires showed off their protective viciousness towards anyone who threatened their mates, and it turned into quite the messy takedown. I was satisfied by the ending both in terms of the storyline and the romance, but I did feel like I was in catch up mode for most of the book as I tried to wrap my head around all the pre-existing relationships. I probably won't go back and read the main series that this spin-off is associated with, but there's no doubt in my mind that Yannis and Hale ended up with their perfect other half.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

What an excellent start to a series! And a spectacular spin-off from the Immortal Assassin series (which, spoiler, I adored). I'm going to be honest with you here and admit that since Hale was introduced to the Orpheus boys, I've been wanting him to have a book of his own. So very pleased to have gotten that wish granted.

Love the focus on Lair and the folks who work there. I was worried when "cameo appearances" were mentioned that we wouldn't see the familiar faces from Immortal Assassins so much, but that was definitely not the case. Let me just say: you'll enjoy this book a whole lot more if you read that series first. Or, rather, I think you'll get more out of it--a more complete picture, if you will.

Yannis was such a fun character. I love how accepting he was and that he was ride-or-die for his little brother (*clears throat* I'd really like a Dimi book, please). I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Great start to a new spin-off series. Hale has been managing Lair, the vampire club, since recovering from the trauma in which he was discovered by the Orpheus coven. He longs for a fated mate, but is willing to wait. Until Yannis walks through the wards of Lair. Yannis is new to the city and seeking employment. He stumbles upon Lair and is immediately drawn to Hale. However, he has never been attracted to a man. Never been too attracted to anyone really. But, Hale draws him in like no other. When he runs afoul of some mobster wannabes in his neighborhood Hale steps up his protectiveness, and his feral nature turns Yannis on. Their coming together is fairly low angst, especially as Yannis has never been with a man. However, both men jump in with eyes and hearts wide open. Hale finally found his fated mate at long last, and with the help of his Orpheus brothers, will stop at nothing to protect him. Definitely looking forward to the other supernaturals of Lair finding their mates!

What an awesome start to a spinoff series! Lair has so many new characters and paranormal species that I am desperate to learn more about. I am now hoping they all get stories including Yannis’ younger brother. I always enjoy that conflict in Mia Monroe’s books comes from outside the relationship and not within.

Yannis is brand new to New Onyx and the poor man has found himself the target of an organised crime syndicate after finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. After finding his way to Lair shortly following this, Hale finds himself enchanted by the handsome, alluring human who is new to the paranormal world but is also highly intrigued by it. The storyline had some good vampire vi0lence, the steam was steamy and the cameos were sprinkled in well. Looking forward to more from one of my favourite authors.

I had a crazy good time reading Yannis and Hale’s story. The setting and world building are top notch which makes this a really absorbing read. I loved the detailed descriptions of the club, it’s very atmospheric and I could totally picture it my head. This is a fated mates romance with two excellent lovable MCs. Hale is a fabulous character. I loved his smooth and polished exterior and absolutely adored the terrifying monster that comes out when his mate is threatened. I loved how happy Yannis is to be in the city and how open he is to this new world he’s discovering at Lair. The plot also has some good villains and there’s a really cool sinister feeling around the edges of Lair and even more so in the city. The cast of characters is wildly fun and interesting, and I’ve got my fingers crossed there’s a mate at Lair for Dimi. I loved this one a lot, read it straight through. An excellent start to the series.

A brilliant series starter for Mia's new series, which is a spin-off from the excellent Immortal Assassins series. If you haven't do read this just because it is so good and some of the characters do pop up, such as Hale! Such great characters especially the main ones, Hale, a vampire and Yannis, a human who is completely ignorant of the supernatural world! Luckily for Hale, Yannis completely accepts he is a vampire and also the supernatural world. Even though he had never been interested in a man before this again causes no issues, but probably as they are fated mates. As always with fated mates a fast relationship development as things move very quickly between them and they were just so good together and I loved how protective Hale was. Was great to see all the Immortal assassins found family again. Looking forward to the next in the series.
I received a free arc copy from GRR and this is my honest review.

I'm so happy Mia Monroe gave Hale his HEA. His introduction in the Immortal Assassins series broke my heart. He was so broken and hurt (physically, mentally, and spiritually). In Feral he is slowly recovering but not fully healed or quite ready to give all of himself to the world. That's is, until Yannis walks into his place of employment, Lair. Yannis is so sweet with a huge heart trying to fully experience life. And he is exactly what Hale needs to finally heal those old wounds. Hale is exactly what Yannis needed to help him discover what truly made him happy.
There is humor, sweet moments, healing, suspense, action, steam, and great world building. A great start to this series, which is a spin-off from the Immortal Assassins series. All of the newly introduced characters and the known characters (secondary characters from Immortal Assassis series) are intriguing and need their story to be told!! I can't wait to read about Fate's next victim, cause Hale is only the first one 😍

I had been waiting for Hale's story and this did not disappoint. Hale had a tough time when we first met him and now he has found his place and maybe even his mate. Yannis is new to town and finding out that not all his neighbors are friendly. He meets Hale and learns about Lair, maybe he has found where he belongs.

I enjoyed this story and getting to learn more about Hale. He has been through so much and most of it hasn't been good. I like seeing how he is doing and that good things are happening for him. Yannis is a fun person to put in Hale's way. I think that he is the expected bit of the unexpected; it that makes sense. He is not the one that you would think would be showing up, but he is everything that Hale wasn't looking for.

This was a very well written story with fantastic characters. We get to see all of the Brotherhood again too.

I can't wait to see who is next in this series. I have enjoyed all of these characters and want to see more of everyone.
