This was a excellent issue. From JJ part with Peter's son, to introduction of sinister six in this universe, to a nod to venom. We're in for some good shit, this run has been excellent.

The best Spider-Man comic in decades continues

The people running the regular Spider-Man editorial office should pay close attention to this book. The quality is beyond anything published under the 616 banner for Spider-Man in almost 20 years. The art is fantastic. Peter and Mary Jane look the best they've looked in ages. The new designs for the Sinister Six are fantastic.

Hickman's dialogue and character work is exceptional. Everyone feels alive and three-dimensional not like exposition spouting machines. I love that he feels the freedom to chill and hang out in the moment rather than just beat the plot plot plot drum beat.

This book continues to be filled with heart and humor, even as different threats creep in. I love the little moments too, the mundane ones that connect our world and Peter’s. I know some people aren’t digging the real-time progression, but I really like it. It adds something for those of us following along monthly, as we wait and prepare for the Maker’s return along with the heroes. But now we also get to relate to Peter, starring at the weather report, contemplating global warming and whether there will be a world for his kids to grow up in.

I'm not even a big Spiderman fan, but this Ultimate run has been one of if not THE best thing in comics for eight months running now. The writing is sharp and natural, the art is impeccable, and the plot is fresh despite being a retelling. Extremely enjoyable book, and the most I've enjoyed a Spiderman book in longer than I can remember. The plot threads that Hickman is setting up, the little moments he gives to every character, Checchetto’s masterful art. It's not a masterpiece, but it's one of the most fun time that I have had with Spidey in a long time.

Another solid issue! I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t really touch on Tony being viewed as a terrorist in this universe other than a few off-hand lines from Harry, especially considering how inaccurate the cover ends up being. Still, I love how Ben and Jonah think the other’s lonely, and the birthday party was a sweet moment, especially JJ’s gift to Richard. We also finally get to meet this universe’s Sinister Six, which is full of the usual suspects and one rando being Mole Man! Sick! I love the idea that Subterranea is considered a borough under Kingpin’s control, and I’m glad that the Fantastic Four’s supporting cast isn’t being forgotten about. I wonder how Alicia’s doing… Still, we got some great reveals, like more hints about Venom, and some heartwarming moments with the Parkers, so I’d give this issue a 9/10!

Ultimate Spider-Man #8 by Jonathan Hickman leans into character more than combat, and it largely succeeds. Iron Lad drops in through a portal, revealing Peter’s picotech suit was designed to stop the Maker—putting Peter directly in his sights. There’s also a sweet touch with a double birthday party for Richard and May, where J. Jonah Jameson shares a surprisingly warm moment with Richard.

Meanwhile, Kingpin quietly assembles his own underground Sinister Six—Mr. Negative, Black Cat, Kraven, Mysterio, and Mole Man. No big fights this time, but the tension builds and the character work shines. A slower issue, but loaded with potential.

I don’t know why I didn’t even think of it as a possibility in the beginning, considering it was black at first, but turning this new nanotech suit into a sort of A.I. Venom is a stroke of genius from Hickman! Gotta love Harry and Tony’s pissing contest over who’s the more damaged rich boy. Something about wholesome JJJ moments just hit different. I love this outside-the-box iteration of the Ultimate Sinister Six. It has just the right amount of familiar faces and newcomers to make the team exciting!

I continue to really like this story. The characters are great, everybody is developed well, and the art continues to be strong.

With that being said, the book is very much a slow burn, and I worry its going to fizzle out. There really isn't a clear direction of an end goal here, but I hope one materializes itself soon.

5 estrellas.

HOLY CRAP!!

SINISTER SIX IS HERE!!! A very unique group of villains that I didn’t expect but I’m excited to see how it plays out. The conversation with Iron Lad was interesting as hell and noticing Harry’s reaction to the stuff was kinda scary… and I loved the family stuff in this issue it was very wholesome.

Is it too soon to say this is the best version of JJ Jameson? I've never connected with him before like I have here. He's still the grumpy guy I know and love, but so much more endearing in the best possible ways

ALSO ULTIMATE MYSTERIO IS HIM

A new version of sinister six and rather than just a bunch of villains forming a temporary alliance, they all control a separate area of New York. I really like this idea, very different. Also liked the Tony/Peter/Harry scene, I feel like Harry is not going to enjoy not being taken seriously

So much set up for so many things: Tony warning of the Maker’s return, Harry leaning more into his villainous side, the Sinister Six. All the while we are treated to a fun and comforting bday party for the kids lol

I love the take on the Sinister Six being different borough powers in NYC. I’m glad we got a good chunk of story from Peter before switching to 5 villain intros and not being a full issue of expo dump.

Excellent story progression!! Loved seeing the introductions of the new Sinister Six, and the Parker family interactions, specifically the ones between Richard and JJJ, were beautifully written and drawn!

Oh boy, Peter is starting to slip into known habits (wearing the suit all day everyday)! I liked the second half as well, where we see the origin of the Ultimate Sinister Six, however some of the villains in the group I find to be odd choices.

Not bad, slightly anti-climactic. I was expecting a fight with Iron Man. It sets up the Sinister Six nicely and really dissed the Goblin.
