Maddie knew it was going to be an awful trip. Not only did going to Dallas Texas mean to much time with her father, who thought everything she did was wrong. There was also perfect Brayden, the golden child, to compete with. And of course, there was the reason she was being dragged to this doom. Her mother’s dying wish. Give some secret box to an uncle who’d written them off more than a year ago. All in all it was going to be the worse summer on record until she met JR.
JR is handsome, sweet and looks mouthwatering in his underwear. There’s only one problem, every time she gets close to finding what’s hiding beneath those boxers, he freaks and books it. She doesn’t think she’s reading his signals wrong. Then again she failed all her linguistics and sociology classes.
Maddie soon finds out the problem when JR asks the one question she dreads. The question most people aren’t prepared for her answer to, “Can you really talk to the dead?” If she’s honest with him it’s certain he’ll turn cold-fish permanently.
I've been reading as long as I've been walking, though I never done the two together (I'm rather clumsy). With the birth of my second son I became a stay-at-home mom and found when the little one took a nap I had a WHOLE hour to myself.
I wanted nothing more than to escape for that hour and thus a love for writing was born.
I read this as part of the Southern Seduction Boxed Set and ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would! I haven't read too many books about people with special powers, so I was unsure about what to expect. Wow, is there ever a twist! It totally caught me off guard and literally gave me goose bumps! So awesome! There were some super cute "awww" moments that made me smile, too! The only thing that brought my rating down would be Uncle Ollie's big secret. Being the type of secret that it was, I found it to just put a damper on the romantic aspect of the book. Other than that, I thought the book was great!
I was a bit weary at first because of the whole talks to ghosts thing in a romance but the Author did a really good job with the story and kept me engages the whole time
