A perfect sunny getaway with no drama. Or so they’d hoped…
BREAKING NEWS Woman Taken in for Questioning in Death of Actress’ Husband Police in Portugal this morning told reporters that a woman is being questioned in connection with the murder of the film producer Jason ‘JT’ Kenda, who was married to award-winning actress Ariella St Gerome. Mr Kenda, who was found dead in the swimming pool of the couple’s villa, was initially thought to have died following an accident, but now police believe the American was killed intentionally. The villa is next door to where Lady Beatrice, the Countess of Rossex, is currently holidaying with family and friends at the villa of TV’s Sir Hewitt and his wife, Lady Grace. Who can say no to Lady Grace? When the daughter of Lady Grace’s housekeeper is suspected of murder, her ladyship requests that Bea and her friends prove the maid’s innocence. But with time running out, can they navigate the tangled web of lies, betrayal, and hidden motives before an innocent woman is imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit? Because even on holiday, the sleuthing never stops!
Another page-turning British cozy whodunnit with a hint of humour that you wouldn’t be able to put down from Helen Golden.
Helen Golden spins crimes that are charmingly British, delightfully deadly, and served with a twist of humour.
With quirky characters, clever red herrings, and plots that keep the pages turning, she’s the author of the much-loved A Right Royal Cozy Investigation series, following Lady Beatrice and her friends—including one clever little dog—as they uncover secrets hidden in country houses and royal palaces. Her new historical mystery series, The Duchess of Stortford Mysteries, is set in Victorian England and introduces an equally curious sleuth from Lady Beatrice’s own family tree—where murders are solved over cups of tea, whispered gossip, and overheard conversations in drawing rooms and grand estates.
Helen lives in a quintessential English village in Lincolnshire with her husband, stepdaughter, and a menagerie of pets—including a dog, several cats, a tortoise, and far too many fish.
If you love clever puzzles, charming settings, and sleuths with spark, her books are waiting for you.
This time Lady Bea, Rich, Sam her son & his good friend Archie, with Perry, Simon & Simon’s daughter, Lisa are in a closed area of 3 homes in Portugal. The other two homes have Hollywood famous people in them. They are invited to a drinks party and at the end of it, there is a scream! Someone is dead in the pool. They have most of the other people as suspects! Fun & games because the local police will not let Rich know anything. They get help when the police in England send over someone from the Royal Family protection unit. A good read.
As always, I have enjoyed reading another gripping story by Helen Golden. I find myself drawn into these stories and find them hard to put down. With this story we are treated to a lovely beachside backdrop! With a limited number of characters all having motives, and the police arresting the wrong person, it soon became clear that Lady Bea and her team had their work cut out deciding who was responsible for the death of a very unpopular man. The result of their investigations led them down two different paths, but with a suitable outcome in many ways, plus, the romance between Bea and Richard moving forward nicely. Brilliant!
Lady Beatrice was at Villa Mer when a film producer is found dead. There was a lot going on with all the celebrities in the nearby Villa's. Lots of suspense and humour to keep you guessing to the true identity of the killer. An intriguing read. I received this ARC copy and recommend this book to other readers .
Another great addition to the series. This was an entertaining variation on the locked room mystery, with the story contained to three villas. An interesting mix of characters and I was left guessing until the end. In fact, there were quite a few surprises at the end!
A fun read with a good dose of suspense. The book is beautifully written, the story is well-developed and twisty, and the characters are delightful. Chapter 57 is my favourite chapter, you’ll understand when you read it.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
Lady Bea, Richard, Perry, Daisy and others are taking a well earned break at a villa in Portugal. There are three villas on the complex which has good security however Bea having been hounded by the press all her life is cautious about who the neighbours are, as she doesn't want her location given away. It turns out they are high profile Hollywood-ites and only a daughter, an influencer, is likely to give anything away. They overhear an argument and when invited to a pool party they hear even more animosity towards the Hollywood director, who later is found dead in the pool. Bea wants to investigate as they have done in other such matters in the past, with Richards help (who was with PaiRs the royal protection service), but a DI is being sent over from the UK, and the team are dreading it will be the man they all can't abide. They have key information which the police don’t appear to be aware of which could save the maid's daughter who has been arrested. Can Bea and her friends save the day?
I adore Helen’s books. They are always such a wonderful easy read, one to relax into with characters who now seem like old friends. This is part of a series and probably would stand alone other than a little background which can be picked up on the way- then again why miss out on a brilliant set of books? I love Perry and his sense of humour and a special mention has to go to Daisy. If you are looking for a great plot in a very comfortable read then this series could be for you. A wonderful, adorable book I highly recommend
Lady Bea, her family and friends are on holiday in Portugal. However it isn't as restful as they'd hoped as they become embroiled in another murder case when their celebrity neighbour dies in the pool... I Kill Always Love You is the latest book in the Right Royal Cozy Investigation series, centred around a fictional royal family in the UK. Lady Bea and Rich Fitzwilliam have finally moved ahead with their relationship now that he is no longer her police protection officer. They head to a private resort in the Algarve with their friends and family to enjoy some peace and quiet, far from the paparazzi. Unfortunately they are sharing the resort with celebrities including an actress and her film producer husband, a supermodel, and an influencer. Tensions, secrets and relationships are exposed and things take a darker turn when the film producer is killed. The police suspect a local but Lady Bea and the others are convinced of Maria's innocence and set about their own investigation. I was absolutely thrilled to be back in the lives of Bea, Rich, Perry and Simon. I love this series and am so happy that Bea and Rich are finally a couple. However, I must admit that I miss the spark of animosity that was between them and Rich seemed much less dynamic. The murder mystery is sustained well and there are lots of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. The style of writing is easy to read and I liked the use of newspaper articles to break up the prose and offer a different angle. I Kill Always Love You is an enjoyable cosy murder mystery.
Bea, Perry and their families are taking a much needed holiday on the beach in Portugal. There are three villas in the complex and the security is good, but the neighbors are famous Hollywood people, which is a little concerning. Bea certainly doesn't want the press showing up. But then the director ends up dead in the pool at a party Perry and Simon are attending and the press becomes the least of Bea's worries.
The man was not universally liked, but the police are focusing on the maid who Bea and her team are sure is innocent. To prove she's innocent, Bea, Perry, Rich, and Simon need to figure out who the real killer is. They definitely have their work cut out for them - turns out almost everyone is lying though and the clues point in different directions.
The characters are fun and I love how well our main group get along and work together. Even the kids are coming into their own. Bea and Rich's romance is sweet, but my one complaint would be Bea's worry in this one over something that could be cleared up quite simply and seemed obvious anyway. It always annoys me when characters choose worry and stress over communication.
I enjoy this series and I thought this installment was put together well. The mystery is good, the characters are quirky without being over the top, it's funny, and there's a cute dog.
I can not say enough good things about this series! I love it. Lady Bea, her son Sam, his friend Archie, her beau Richard Fitzwilliam, her best friend Perry Juke, his husband Simon Lattimore and Simon’s daughter Isla are on vacation in Portugal at an exclusive estate. Unfortunately, staying next door to them are a Hollywood film producer, his actress wife, and another film producer whose daughter is a Social Media Influencer. Lady Bea is appalled as she wanted a nice vacation away from media scrutiny and paparazzi! Despite trying to isolate themselves, they soon find themselves embroiled in the drama of these Hollywood types. As one might expect, a murder occurs and Lady Bea, Richard, Perry, and Simon find themselves right in the thick of it when their housekeeper’s house maid daughter is falsely accused of the murder. They find themselves racing against time to find the real killer before the poor house maid is convicted of the crime. In the course of the investigation, Lady Bea’s relationship with Richard becomes tested by outside influences and she wonders if she can ever really find happiness. This story is just the latest in the Right Royal Cozy Investigation series and it is a delight!
The newest addition to the wonderful Right Royal cozy series by Helen Golden, and it's a good one! This time the whole crew is off to Portugal for a much needed rest after the last case. A beautiful exclusive island with only 3 villas on it. Lady Bea is hoping for a laid back time with her loved ones but things don't go quite as planned when the Hollywood director next door is found dead in the pool. Will they be able to figure it out before the wrong person is charged and the real culprit flees? In the meantime will Bea get the courage to talk to Rich about their relationship.
It's a great story, I absolutely love the main characters, they are written so well you feel like you know them. The author is very good at making sure the books can be read in any order, I especially love she puts in the back of every book a character list with a brief bio, so even if you forget who's who, there's a place to help right there in the book. But seriously, these are truly standalone books.
I have been an avid reader of a variety of fiction, mystery murders being my favourites, for a number of decades and is with great delight that I wholeheartedly can announce Helen Golden as being up there at the top as my favourite authoress. With this book she has indeed excelled herself. Extremely well written, Helen injects so much into her characters, descriptions and her intensely clever plots she had me spell bound from the first page. Her attention to detail allows the reader to visualise the character’s and understand their personalities, also allowing us to build up the surroundings and atmosphere as well. I confess that I didn’t work this one out !! The story includes such an intricate web of deceit and lies, incorporating Helen’s unique style of writing, quite humorous as times, it will grip you and hold your attention with the greatest of ease. Helen Golden has the masterful ability to keep you page-turning with this one !!! A definite must read !!!
The eleventh book in the A Right Royal Cozy Investigation Mystery series that doesn't disappoint but grabs you and brings you in turning page after page until the end. In this book, Bea and crew are taking a much needed vacation in Portugal at a three villa complex. Hoping to just relax wasn't to be in the cards. The husband of an actress next door is found floating in the pool and it wasn't an accident. Although the man wasn't well liked, the police focus on the maid. Bea and her crew are sure is innocent and they feel the need to prove her innocence. So, it is up to Bea, Perry, Rich, and Simon to figure out who the real killer is. Can they find the real killer. With lots of twists and turns and some humor thrown in, we are taken on a roller coaster ride until the very end. I not only recommend this book but also the entire series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Another enjoyable addition to this series! Lady Beatrice is finally enjoying a real vacation, at a gated community at the sea in Portugal. When the owner of a neighboring villa is found dead in the pool at a party, the maid is immediately suspected by the police - but nobody believes it. Charged by several parties to get to the bottom of the death, Bea, Rich, Perry and Simon start digging, despite being stonewalled by the local authorities. It's nice to see the youngsters, Isla and Sam, also growing up (and getting into a bit of hijinks), and the romance between Bea and Rich is still strong. With lots of ideas but no proof, and confusing statements, our friends have their work cut out for them! I certainly didn't guess what the ending would bring. - I received an advance copy and freely leave this honest review.
I Kill Always Love You is a fun addition to Helen Golden's Right Royal Investigation mystery series. I've read all the books in the series so far, including all the short stories. I adore spending time with Lady Bea and Perry, and this time, we also have help from Simon and Richard, not to mention Isla.
I've come to expect well-plotted stories from this series, and I Kill Always Love You doesn't disappoint. Did I work out what had happened? Not quite all of it because there were many red herrings and interesting side stories alongside the mystery of what really happened. I certainly appreciated the careful plotting and piecemeal revelations, even if I do wish Perry would buy himself a decent pair of running shoes.
A firm addition to this charming series. New readers will not be disappointed.
Delightful captivating mystery‼️ Absolutely love this series and these characters that have become so human as they walk into and solve mystery after mystery and never loosing their appeal. The group has enlarged a bit with Simon's daughter and Sam's friend Archie included in the storyline. Perry continues to breathe fresh air into the story with his 'oh my giddy aunt' style and in this adventure his sad tale of footwear! Hilarious! Excellent writing with unexpected twists and just enough romance to keep the reader happy! I can hardly wait till the next mystery in which Perry will have his day on stage! If you've missed any in the series ~ definitely recommend you give yourself a present of them🎁❣️
I’m a recent fan of cozy mysteries and have found my favorites with Helen Golden’s Royal Cozy Mysteries. I just finished reading I Kill Always Love You and, once again, I am captivated by her characters and the way they find the culprit of the current murder. Bea and Perry are charming and I love to watch their teamwork as they capitalize on each other’s strengths. One of the most interesting things about Golden’s royal cozy mystery series is the way she keeps adding new characters. I get to watch their relationships develop into the strong team they have become. This is a 5-star read and I can recommend it highly.
Bea, Perry and their families are taking a much needed holiday in Portugal on the down low when murder invades the exclusive compound they’re staying in with two families from Hollywood. Realizing they’re sharing their little bit of paradise with a murderer spurs Bea, Rich, Perry, Simon and the kids into investigator mode while a pesky reporter is determined to derail Bea and Rich’s private life. This series keeps getting better and better, the characters continue to grow in unexpected and delightful way and there’s always more mayhem right around the corner so we all win!
Even on vacation Lady Bea and her friends and family get roped into a death. This is the next book in a wonderful series (all books can be read stand alone). The characters are so well defined and acting as such a team, while growing on their challenges, there are just amazing to follow along. And the number of suspects and the figuring out of the mystery is done so well that you try guessing what happened from the first to the last page. I can only recommend this book, another wonderful page turner. I received a copy of this book from the author. I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.
If you're a fan of relaxing murder mysteries, this series is perfect. The books are easy to read on their own, or you can enjoy them in order. The author smoothly weaves in background details without overwhelming you. Expect a charming story with romance, surprising twists, and a puzzling murder.
In this story there are tons of suspects, and the tension builds as time runs out for the accused. But don't worry, Lady Bea and her team always crack the case! It's a truly enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
Lady Beatrice is on holiday in Portugal next to a villa where man is murdered. Lady Grace’s housekeeper’s daughter; Maria, is suspected of the murder. The housekeeper begs for them to help to prove her daughter is innocent. Bea and her detective boyfriend Rich try to prove that Maria is innocent. The police think they have an easy suspect and refuse to listen to anyone. This was a very intriguing case. There was a surprise ending, a good read
I received an advance review copy, ARC, for free and I am leaving an honest opinion and voluntary review
Fun in the sun is what Lady B and her entourage wanted, but when one of their exclusive neighbours dies in suspicious circumstances, and the authorities are sure the maid did it, they have to investigate. It's an engaging holiday murder mystery with an increasingly cohesive 'amateur investigative team', the ever-present media intrusion and suspects, all with motives but also a seemingly watertight alibi. I like the dynamic between Lady B and her friends and family, the twisty mystery and the glamorous setting. I received a copy of this book from the author.
Holiday's are supposed to be relaxing right? Not when Bea and Rich and the rest of the gang try for a quiet retreat in Portugal. I enjoyed this latest story in the Right Royal Cozy Investigations series. It was a complicated, twisted plot that took me a while to unravel. Rich and Bea's budding romance nicely offset the murder and Perry was always there to provide a little comic relief. I mean, why can't he just buy shoes that fit?!
All of the Right Royal Cozy Investigation mysteries are well-written and delightfully interesting. At this point in the series, all of the main series characters are familiar, and the children are all teenagers and old enough to get in on the fun. This means that it's time to expand the series, and Ms Golden has done so beautifully in this book. Set at a villa in Portugal, the team is dealing with a new set of laws and not enough information. Can they find the killer? Highly recommended!
Another entertaining cozy murder mystery in this delightful series. A vacation in Portugal turns in to a murder investigation for Bea and her friends. The main characters are very likeable and work well together. The author adds several other quirky individuals in the mix keeping the story interesting with a few plot twists.
I received a free advance copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
So happy! I 🧡 Bea and Rich’s romantic mysteries. This one didn’t disappoint. With the whole gang on holiday a murder just has to happen. Enjoyed that Sam and Isla are a part of the story, with Sam’s friend Archie. Daisy is up to her cutie doggie antics while staying cool. Perry is Perry as usual, and I’m laughing when he has to run 🏃….get designer running shoes Perry! I won’t spoil the ending, but 💍 yeah!!!!!!! I will be on tinder hooks for the next book.
This delightful standalone, while part of a series, is an enjoyable read. An adorable cast of detectives to solve the murder of a bully. Of course we have loads of suspects, clues, and twists. I think at one time or another I was sure each suspect was the killer. I especially liked that although on holiday they decided to clear the housekeeper’s daughter. Another highlight was Perry hurrying to meet his friends. I smile every time I remember it. This book I highly recommend

Another very enjoyable and clever cozy. The characters feel like they have become friends and the plots of the stories continue to amaze and entertain. As is always the case, I was completely lost about who the murderer was. The story was so clever that I had no idea up until the final reveal. If you love a god cozy, you will love this series.
