A SAFE ROMANTIC VERY HOT LOVE STORY OF A ROCKSTAR THAT IS SOOOO EXTREMELY POSSESSIVE!!! YES COUNT ME IN!!!! YESS!
One of the best thing ever for me when I find a new book from a new author is the characters turns out to be freakin amazing! And the hero is freakin possessive!!! I love it so much 🫶🏽🫶🏽🔥🔥
And it’s been a long time since i read a step sibling love story… And this step sibling is freakin hot and romantic since the first time they see each other 🔥🔥🔥 Which i love it so much!!!!
There are some scenes that I don’t like which i will of course write it down. But this book IS FREAKIN ROMANTIC!!! THE PLOT TWIST IN THIS BOOK IS FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!!

Seriously those type of characters is very rare these days 🙄 So when i read that the hero is like that and many other things, like wow, it made me more want to keep on reading this…
This is not a regular normal rockstar love story…. Nooo… There’s a mystery behind it and a tragic story that made you just keep on reading this…

The story begins with the hero and his band is very new at the music industry. They’re famous already but NOT TOO FAMOUS… They don’t even have a manager and label company. And when the hero is finished with a concert or gig at the time, his little sister called him to inform something about the mother… Their mother is suddenly married to a man that she known since college and they meet again and married. The hero was shocked and tell the little sister that he will be on his way to new house ASAP to see this whole thing…
The heroine is back to australia from her gap year travelling with her best friend in throughout Europe for twelve months and ready to see her dad… When she got to her house, her dad informs her that he is married and introduced her to the woman and one of the woman’s children… by the way The woman is lovely to the heroine, not a evil person fyi.
We also get to see that the heroine’s ex boyfriend was asking about her from her POV in beginning like messaging her. But she decline and from the start she doesn’t want to be with the ex anymore. And the ex is also pretty childish 😆
The heroine’s dad was not informed by the heroine about the ex boyfriend is already an ex, so he invited the ex suddenly to the house. The heroine was shocked then proceed to kick the ex out of the house. When she was talking to the ex to get out, her new step sibling shows up at the house to see his mother and little sister… They looked at each other for the first time and was hooked!

But overall from the beginning till the end it was SAFE… SAFE.

NOOO SEPARATION.
‼️‼️‼️A LITTLE BIT OF A SLOW BURN ~ But even though it’s a bit slow burn, they always touch other 😜

But the hero has been celibate for YEARS!!!!! He only let the groupies suck him off but never more, he didn’t even touch their private parts 😳😳 Which is shocking for me. But good for him!
The heroine was celibate for twelve months when she was travelling which is amazing.
But then she so stupidly slept with ex one time because in her defence she was having emotional feelings with her dad being married all of sudden and not tell her sooner.
Which for me it was a stupid excuse 😬 But thankfully that didn’t get a repeat 😄
Which brings me to down bellow of what I didn’t like about in this book. Some scenes that I don’t like personally.
‼️‼️‼️SCENES AND THINGS THAT I DON’T LIKE IN THIS BOOK :
1. The heroine slept with her ex one last time in the beginning of the book. Why tho? And the most part is that the hero have to see it all… But thankfully when he saw that whole thing he was okay with it and even wants her more…
2. The hero like 5-7 times mentioned in his POV only to himself about the dead ex girlfriend that he only ever loved and care about. That made him celibate for 5-6 years if I’m not mistaken. YEARS!!!! Which is the best thing about the hero 😄 But yeah he always have to compare the heroine with her which is frustrating sometimes to read that scenes. But thankfully not too much… And not too crazy… But it is there tho 😬😬
3. The hero never ask the heroine for a date or like two of them having romantic time like a dinner… Nadaaa ~ None.
4. ONE TIME The heroine stupidly when she was so confused with her own feelings, she wear a sexy outfit to go to the hero’s mini concert. She then decided to dance with a total stranger of a man for 30 minutes in front of the hero! Yes the hero saw it all! And this is after they already touched each other but not have s3x tho. But why??! Why did that stupid thing???! 🙄🙄
‼️‼️‼️Let’s talk about the hero. THE HERO have a lot of baggage with him in the beginning of his POV and I’m actually okay with that because he was being honest with the whole thing of what he’s been through… So we as readers like me can get the full picture of what actually is going on with the hero. Especially me i like to know at first of what is actually going on with the main characters and why they are like that…
The hero sometimes use that baggage AT FIRST for the heroine because the she actually on the outside looks like someone that he hated so much in the past that ruin everything for him. So at first he hated the heroine BUT AT THE SAME TIME he wants her sooo bad. So incredibly bad…
So he is the main pursuer in the beginning of this relationship 🥺
The hero personality is very interesting. He cares deeply for his love ones, he is not closed off tho which is rare for a rockstar or in my experience of reading certain rockstar characters in certain novels. Cause many times the rockstar is very closed off and too childish even. The hero really take his music seriously as well but not too crazy about it. He is the main singer in the band and he mostly takes care of the importance of the band. He is definitely A GENUINE MAN!
What surprises me is that the hero is actually also very gentleman, he is masculine for sure but also have a gentle heart. I love the way he will takes care of the heroine’s body afterwards… And many good things about him.
Now for the safe parts about the hero: THE HERO have been celibate for 5-6 years. FOR YEARS. He only let the groupies suck him off and never ever touch them… And never ever let them touch him! Never ~ The only woman that he ever have s3x with is the dead ex girlfriend. And she was also the first and only p*ssy he ever touch and pleasure with! So the heroine is the second and only woman after the ex that he ever touch… Which is great! I love that he is loyal like that, not overall loyal tho but still loyal like that for YEARS…
So because he never ever touch and kiss someone else, which means he is not a total manwhor3. Right?! He never even let the groupies to touch anything else beside his p3nis when they suck him off…
And i love that he have a great sibling relationship with his sisters 🫶🏽

The heroine is a law student but have great talents on making clothes like dresses of her own and anything about clothes. Her personality is very complex but not too annoying tho. She is rich but not arrogant about it, there’s no snob of her tho which is a great thing 😆 She have a amazing incredible relationship with her dad and her granddad 😍 But sometimes her POV is a bit childish and not mature tho. But not too annoying…
I love that she is so friendly and very thoughtful person! A genuine woman over here.

NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. This book had a strong, gripping start that instantly had me hooked, but was lowkey so unhinged during the first few chapters I was worried about how the story would play out👀 but I really enjoyed it! It’s filled with suspense & shocking plot twists, & is thrilling, short, fast-paced, intriguing, & will keep you on your toes. I don’t usually reach for the step sibling trope but I’m glad I gave this a go because the trope was executed well🙌🏼
Bea takes no bullshit, is feisty, & knows how to stand up for herself, however she also doesn’t like to step out of line so as to not disappoint her family or seem ungrateful, so she’s constantly throwing her happiness & dreams away to please everyone else. Elias is a grumpy, broody, tortured, cold bad boy/asshole. I was sceptical of him at first because he acted so irrationally, however he becomes such a gentleman later on & is the complete opposite to what he once was.
Despite hating one another, these two couldn’t stay away from each other, so the forbidden romance mixed with hot tension was the perfect combo for an explosive connection. Their connection was very surface level/physical at first (though, it was incredibly hot), & even though this book was quite short I was surprised to see how well their relationship developed to a much deeper, more vulnerable & real level throughout the book. The very first book I've read from JL Skye and I'm happy to report that all the great feedback I've heard from her books was indeed true and well deserved.
Tainted Love was quick and easy to read.
The characters - both main and side - were deep and well rounded and took you so far into the story, you felt like you were reading about your own friends.
I will definitely be continuing the Forever Summer series to what the characters get up to next.

Wow! This was such a spell binding read! It had me captured from the beginning, invested in the story through out and wanting more at the end!
The twists in this book were not expected and had me gasping at parts. The sass on the FMC had me giggling and the cockiness of MMC was lovable but you also wanted slap up him up the back of his head lol.

When I say I devoured this book I mean it, I started reading at 6pm and COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN until I finished it at 11pm.
I loved this book! The story had so many elements that all meshed together so well and that reveal! 😱
Eli and Bea were a bit of a toxic, red flag beginning, but as the story went on the red flags began to be removed, and in the end Eli actually encouraged Bea to stop doing what others expected of her and focus on what she wanted. It concluded Eli and Bea's story so well, but left so many burning questions for the Author to be able to bring into the next books in the series that I am excited to read them when they come out!
Bonus points for the MMC being a tall, dark, tortured musician who enjoys a bit of spice.

Broody rising rockstar + rich girl: check!
Tainted love by JL Skye is the first book in the Forever Summer series that follows Elias. Brooding and tortured by a traumatic childhood, making him perfect material for the lead singer of rising Aussie rock band Forever Summer. When his Mum remarries, he finds himself staring back at ghosts of his past when he meets Bea, his new stepsister. Bea is her dad’s pride and joy, and is on the path to study law and become partner in their family law practice, discarding her own dreams to do so. When Elias meets Bea, he decides that she will be the object of punishment to achieve a sense of misguided justice for his lost love. His first goal, get rid of the boyfriend.
Tainted love was such an easy read, there was no over complicated world building, but just enough that you could get a good feel for the world.
I loved seeing Eli’s personal growth, being able to separate his past with relationship with Bea, and how his motives with her change. I am glad Bea didn’t have to feel the cruelty from Eli that he had planned for her. I loved seeing Bea’s growth, and how much Eli supported her to chase her own dreams.
However, avoiding spoilers, considering the sexual assault that occurred and the sexual preferences of one of the characters due to this trauma, I felt this was slightly glossed over. How can this character go from those preferences for many years, to completely disregarding them. I would have liked to see them work through this more or had the other love interest talk them through it. Also, the ex – one minute he was there, the next he wasn’t? I felt like something was brewing with him that didn’t happen. I feel like there was potential for more moments of jealousy from Eli, about both Kingston and Hunter, we love some possessiveness.
In the end, I would have liked to have seen some hesitation or upset from Bes family regarding her career and relationship, it felt a little too easy that everything fell into place. Id have liked to see more of Mum and Dad in the picture, to either watch the relationship between them grow, or to see that conversation with her Dad rather then being skimmed over as an off the page conversation.
Ultimately, I loved that Forever Summer is in the early stages of their career – most rockstar romances we see them as already really well established. If this were the case, I don’t think Eli and the band would have been as down to earth as what they were, and the dynamic would have been different. This is the Eli that Bea needed.
This was the first JL Skye book for me and I really enjoyed her writing style, I liked her characters and how she built intrigue for the next book into this one. What secret is Oli hiding? Is the next going to be an angsty throuple? While there are triggering themes, over all this book was not particularly dark and heavy. I would recommend it to anyone that wants that middle ground read – not dark, not light and is wrapped up with a pretty black bow in the end.

When Elias meets Bea, he decides that she will be the object of punishment to achieve a sense of misguided justice for his lost love. His first goal, get rid of the boyfriend.
Tainted love was such an easy read, there was no over complicated world building, but just enough that you could get a good feel for the world.
I loved seeing Eli’s personal growth, being able to separate his past with relationship with Bea, and how his motives with her change. I am glad Bea didn’t have to feel the cruelty from Eli that he had planned for her. I loved seeing Bea’s growth, and how much Eli supported her to chase her own dreams.
However, avoiding spoilers, considering the sexual assault that occurred and the sexual preferences of one of the characters due to this trauma, I felt this was slightly glossed over. How can this character go from those preferences for many years, to completely disregarding them. I would have liked to see them work through this more or had the other love interest talk them through it. Also, the ex – one minute he was there, the next he wasn’t? I felt like something was brewing with him that didn’t happen. I feel like there was potential for more moments of jealousy from Eli, about both Kingston and Hunter, we love some possessiveness.
In the end, I would have liked to have seen some hesitation or upset from Bes family regarding her career and relationship, it felt a little too easy that everything fell into place. Id have liked to see more of Mum and Dad in the picture, to either watch the relationship between them grow, or to see that conversation with her Dad rather then being skimmed over as an off the page conversation.
Ultimately, I loved that Forever Summer is in the early stages of their career – most rockstar romances we see them as already really well established. If this were the case, I don’t think Eli and the band would have been as down to earth as what they were, and the dynamic would have been different. This is the Eli that Bea needed.
This was the first JL Skye book for me and I really enjoyed her writing style, I liked her characters and how she built intrigue for the next book into this one. What secret is Oli hiding? Is the next going to be an angsty throuple? While there are triggering themes, over all this book was not particularly dark and heavy. I would recommend it to anyone that wants that middle ground read – not dark, not light and is wrapped up with a pretty black bow in the end.

Even worse the parentals are leaving them along for a whole month, what could seriously go wrong?
If you want a book you won’t want to put down filled with secrets,tension, spice and someone who calls you Dutchess. This is certainly for you. It is a little darker than JL previous works but I am here for it!

Oh my damn god… this book just took me for a ride and I did not want to get off!
Elias and Bea:
yes forbidden, yes taboo, yes a little toxic but so freaking hot!
I was kicking my legs and giggling like a little school girl, that kitchen scene with the ice cream made me 🥵
We have Elias who is the lead singer of Forever Summer & Bea who is the daughter of a rich lawyer, who has her life planned out for her by her family.
Bea comes home from her year abroad to find out her dad remarried Elias mum.
So yes, it is step siblings.
Throughout this book see some amazing character development, they both bring out the best in each other and by the end you’re so freaking happy for them!
There is some mystery elements to this book, which had me on the edge of my seat! Then the twists and the conclusion to that… was what I least expected. I think I need to work on my detective skills 😅
I will be holding onto my hat awaiting the next book in this series… and I do hope it’s Killian 🥵🥵🥵

This book was so different than I expected. Yes, we have the rockstar and step sibling romance but it is so much more than that. We have. bit of a mystery and a stalker. This is told in duet style POV's but with a surprise 3rd POV thrown in that bings n the element of suspense. That was a big surprise. I loved the twist and tuns and the growth of the characters. There are some flashbacks that bring another level of tension and mystery to the story. It definitely explains so much of why the characters are, the way that they are. I have to say this one took me by surprise. When I started this book, I was so fraking excited to finally read a J.L. Skye book. And it did not disappoint. I do have to say that at the beginning of the book, it felt a bit similar to a movie I watched a while ago. But the J.L. Skye took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and anxieties. This became a bigger mystery than I anticipated. I obviously tried to figure it out myself, did not work! I really enjoyed the writing, but at times it was a bit confusing or hard to understand because some expressions were in Australian English, and I’m not familiar with all of the sayings. Still, it was enjoyable because I learned some new Australian phrases. I do wish we got a little bit more with Attie in it because that little girl stole my heart. Bea and Elias might seem like two completely different worlds in one house, but for me, it was clear very fast that they are very similar. Great book to finish the year!

Firstly, I love seeing how many romance novels there days are challenging those previously taboo situations!
Tainted love is a playful, mischievous tale of 2 perfectly normal adults, who find themselves as suddenly becoming step siblings, yet totally hot for each other. But it doesn't end there .... in among their own mischief, there's someone else causing trouble, keeping the broody rocker Elias territorial & protective, when really, he is at his best on stage or between the sheets.
There's a consistent line of plot in this, that doesn't get lost among the spice and keeps you guessing to the end. Honestly... I had a slightly more sinister theory as to the appearance of Eli's ghost, but its definitely worth having a read for yourself.
Also, do check trigger warnings on this. It's tactful in the way it is handled, but there is reference to historical SA as well as moments some would see as dubious consent, so do your homework first and take care of your mental health ✌️

I devoured this book.
Step sibling romance, rockstar, possessive.
The twists and turns towards to end had me gobsmacked. Expected but also totally not expected and had jaw on the floor. This was incredibly written. Read triggers before going into this book.
The tension between Eli and Bea starts at the beginning of the book.
3 scenes had me absolutely kicking my feet screaming and giggling.
1: Kitchen scene with Tradie 🥵
2: Entry scene with Hunter, Bea & Eli 😂
3: Shower scene. 🥵
Wish we saw more of the rest of the family, Attie seems like the sweetest kids. I'm hoping the next book is about Oli, Asher & Kill because the epilogue makes me think something might happen between those 3.

I’ll preface this review by stating that it’s not my usual read & I was introduced to it through an online bookclub as our monthly read….HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised.
Elias comes across as your standard rockstar who’s in love with himself & living the rockstar lifestyle to the max & the FMC Bea (don’t you dare get caught full-naming her or else ⚔️) is introduced as a pretty, little rich girl living her best life without a care in the world.
With the help of some interesting side characters & some serious development of the main characters including their tough upbringings, JL Skye has written a great story that I devoured. The twists kept me guessing right up to the big reveal & the story is well-paced & flows well so it’s impossible to put down!

Honestly, I was excited for the spice (I mean it’s a rockstar/step sibling romance, can you blame me lol 🥵) but I had no idea how much this story would draw me in. The twists and turns regarding Elias’s past left me on the edge of my seat til the very end and I loved every second of it. I kept trying to guess what was going on but nothing could have prepared for what actually happened. It was just so good!
I’m honestly so excited to get stuck into book 2 of this series! And I hope book 3 isn’t far away 🫣

The story of Bea and Elias is a ride from start to finish. I had no expectations except to dive into my first dark romance novel and boy, was I sucked in to the plot and journey of these two.

She however arrives to a big surprise, a new stepbrother who also happens to be the sexy as sin lead singer to the band Forever Summer. His off limits for so many reasons but she just can't get him off her mind.
Eli has a past his worked very hard to keep hidden, he uses music and his band as a way to soothe himself. When his new step sister walks though the door though she looks just like a ghost from his past yet he can't help it, his developing feelings for her. Hopefully his past doesn't resurface and hurt them both.
